— Ace Obama had a scripted response to Mitt Romney in the second debate in which he turned to him and recited a pre-written, rehearsed speech in which he insisted "How dare you, sir" to any suggestion that anyone in his Administration had lied over this silly Benghazi matter, and really, wasn't the most important thing the deaths of four Americans?
It apparently worked. It's stupid rhetoric, but that's about the American public's comfort speed these days, stupid. Yes, the most important thing is that four Americans are dead; that doesn't mean that other things aren't also important. And the other things naturally draw more attentions, for two reasons:
1, There's not a great many ways to ask if someone is dead? Once you get to "Are you sure he's dead, and not, say, just hiding?" you're pretty much all out of questions about his alleged state of death.
2, There is nothing that can be done to improve the situation of the dead. There are, however, things that can be done to improve the functioning and candor of the government which made them dead.
Looking at Hillary's now-infamous "What does it matter?" screech, I believe two things:
1, this is a pre-scripted response. She's attempting to do what Obama did in Denver, play the How Dare You card, by noting that four dead Americans is a more important fact than anything else. (But not explaining why "most important" is suddenly synonymous with "solely important.")
2, I think this was poll-tested. I think most Democrats do not understand Benghazi because they don't want to dig deeply into a major Administrative failure and would like to just assume that everything went okay (except for the murders). And because the media doesn't cover it much, they're permitted to easily self-select out of the group who knows anything about this. Thus, I would imagine the most frequently offered response about Benghazi, in focus groups, by Democrats, is exactly this: "What does it matter?"
Thus, Hillary is attempting to not only play the How Dare You card (with How Can You Ask Such Trivial Questions When Their Are Four Dead Americans power-up card), but is also attempting an emotional catharsis on behalf of the bewildered Democrats who don't understand all the fuss. By channeling that precise emotional response -- "What's all the fuss?" -- she connects herself emotionally to Democrats.
They're thinking just that, and feeling rather bad about being ignorant of a major foreign policy failure that sure sounds important and sounds like the sort of thing an Enlightened Liberal Bien Pensant should know about; but in comes Hillary to reassure them that their ignorance is in fact a sort of Enlightenment. "What does it matter?!" Indeed, I imagine a lot of ignorant Democrats' heads were nodding at that-- in excusing herself, Hillary also excuses those Democrats from the responsibility of taking an interest in important affairs.
Thus, they have a big incentive to believe her lie -- in thinking well of Hillary, they also get to think well of themselves. And thus they'll latch on to it.
People love hearing things that make them feel well about themselves. Politicians tend to talk about the "basic wisdom and goodness of the American voter" an awful, awful lot just as the American voters are deciding who to give jobs to.

What matters is the MFM's treatment of the pronouncements of our supposed betters and their tendencies to step in it if their weak rationales are too often exposed.
Hillary's rhetorical question may have been poll tested among mouth breathing sheeple, but the symbolic question now reverberates in the Congressional Record whether the commies in the MFM ignore it or not.
Doesn't it imply "I'll tell you when it matters", or "move along, nothing to see here", or even better "of course you know this is a charade senator, don't overplay your hand".

Speculation on 2016?
---
Here's mine, some was posted in last post. We could (don't know for sure, but could) see a GOP field of Rubio, Ryan, Paul, Jindal and/or Christie. HOw much better than the previous two fields.
For the Dems, we could see Cuomo, Biden (yikes), and Clinton. I think Clinton would win hands down, but I thought that in 2008 too, so who knows.
My guess is Hillary will assess where things are. She is not a shoe-in by any means. But if it looks like the Dems will retain the WH, she runs. If not she passes. I don't think she wants her last legacy to be a failed WH run.

"What does it matter?" she said, using a carefully pre-rehearsed response, intonations just right, her phrasing exhaustively focus-grouped and response tested beforehand.
I suppose we are all victims of applied psychometrics now: focus groups, semantic response studies, nearly subliminal evocation of desired emotional response to keyword/keyphrase stimuli, all executed with the most advanced technology and methodologies by the most ruthless, conniving, manipulative, and Machiavellian bastards the world has ever seen.
We can't beat them at this, you know. We simply aren't good at the cynical stuff, the agitprop and media manipulation. We can only hit the public with truth and reason. Unfortunately, truth and reason only work when citizens have been taught to recognize one and use the other.

Play it over and over and over. Ask the LiVs if it would have mattered had it been their sons or daughters or siblings or spouses? Maybe, just maybe, THAT will get a reaction.
They might be painfully stupid. They might be morally double- and triple-jointed, but most people at least give a fuck for their own blood. Personalize it, ask them to picture Cankles saying that about THEIR loved ones ...
At this point, what do we have to lose?
Posted by: acethepug at January 23, 2013 09:20 AM (OQhDd)
Maybe the liberals have the right idea.
The vast majority of people are far to stupid to govern themselves. Why not lie to them, give them a few trinkets and seize power? Once the population is placated, the radicals disarmed and the press singing the praises of a new day, everything else is easy.
No opponents will be viewed as legitimate and power can held into perpetuity.
What's wrong with a plan like this?

1. It is either incompetence or malevolence at the bottom of Benghazi. I tend to think the latter because of the arms shipments, the repetitive demands from one group or another about the release of the Blind Sheik, and the expansion of jihadists suddenly into Mali and Algeria.
2. NO executive of the United States should deliberately lie to the American people, and we have Obama, Clinton, and Rice all doing just that.
3. Who decided on the video explanation. Hillary just testified that she had nothing to do with the talking points and that the info came from "intelligence agencies." CIA has denied this. My bet is on that Donihilo guy who is a plitical hack and is working on national security in the White House. Second choice or a co-conspirator is Valerie Jarrett.
4. Was Obama even involved in ANY of the decision-making? Or was he in bed (with or without Reggie) and Jarrett and Donihilo took it upon themselves to make these decisions, which should be grounds for firing since they do not have authority?
5. How well is State Department money managed? If State is whining about needing more money for security, then let them open their books and show us why they cannot possibly cut all these things like clowns and electric cars. Or clown cars, for all I know.

Realistically, they are dead. But in ordered emotion it becomes;
- They are dead. I need to deal with that death. I am sad, angry, confused.
- Next, why are they dead? Was in natural or unnatural? If unnatural- why?
- Is there someone I can target my anger at because they caused that death?
That's all (the emotional logic) on a very personal basis. But I would argue it is not unlike a collective national emotion. Up until now that is.
I believe one effect of the Obama Presidency is that lack of a collective, national emotion. We are divided more than ever. In the process we've lost some of that national collective emotion. The "we". We've become rich, poor, takers, etc., etc.
So I think much of the national consciousness has been lost. This type of emotional strawman argument plays to that despicable theme.

The Rs should drop the "no tax party" thing and become the Responsible Party. Make the shitheads pay the taxes required to support a european welfare state. That might fix some of this shit, but they won't. They are just in it for the short term gain.

6. Why don't they take the money that is being spent on the things they are doing wrong and spend it on doing things the right way? That would eliminate the need for more money.
Never mind. I just answered my own question.

What she is really saying is "What does it matter POLITICALLY when my party controls nearly all of the media, hollywood, and television programming and have successfully convinced the majority of Americans that this is a non-issue?" Ask someone other than a right-winger about Benghazi, and you either get "Ben who?" or an eye-roll with head-shaking and muttering about "Right wing nutjobs." The simple fact of the matter is that the country has been lost because (1) the Democrats have put together a majority coalition of the corrupt, the stupid, and the blindly partisan and (2) too many Social Conservative idiots refused to vote for McCain or Romney because, even though the SoCons emphatically state that Obama is the Worst President Ever (correct) and may even be the Anti-Christ, they couldn't bring themselves to vote for a so-called RINO out of "principle." Liberals and SoCons are simply mirror images of each other, and they can all go to hell.

People have been growing in selfishness. They've made themselves a priority- even at the cost of their kids in many instances.
It's the generation of "me". My needs come first. It's all about self-gratification and indulgence. The age of no remorse or guilt. The attempt to "kill" God, etc.
Obama just took that emotion and played to it. "I will help you indulge more." I will help those utopian visions be realized. I will cure your social yearnings. Remorseless sex, etc.
Now people are distracted by themselves and amenable to the emotional pleas people like Obama and Clinton make. They are vulnerable and as a result get played like a harp.
Sorry, I probably went on too long...

It just doesn't matter, and it's just good enough. That is our future. So long as there are EBT cards and Section 8 housing for enough people, mediocrity will win. As bad money drives out good, bad and lazy voters will drive out good policy and liberty.
Our industrial society can produce enough to provide a parasite class of 47% with a minimum ration of bread and circuses for a very, very long time. Yes, the American Experiment is over and the patient died.

The fiendish brilliance if Hilary's statement comes only seconds after her outburst, in which she turns Johnson's argument back on him.
"It's our job to figure out what happened and to prevent this from ever happening again." - Hillary, several seconds after her outburst.
Well, yeah...that's exactly what Johnson is trying to pin her down on; exactly what happened and why it happened. And here she is taking his interrogatory and declaring it as some sort of mission statement, rather than actually answering his question; "What happened, and why did it happen."
In essence:
"We have questions."
"It doesn't matter! There are four dead people! It's my job to find out the answer to those questions!"
Johnson should have followed with,
"Why don't you have those answers this many months after the incident?"
It's bizarro-world...the whole point of the hearings is to find what people knew and when, and here's Hillary defiantly declaring that it's her job to find out what people knew and when.

This needs to be tackled on the front page of something relevant, but seriously, you cannot say you 'take full responsibility', and not resign, commit suicide on live tv, etc.. You cannot just go back to life as normal because you 'took responsibility'. It means nothing.
We've got half the population who believes that line makes her 'sooo dreammyyyy' which i'll never understand. She was/is an alcoholic. The media has been covering it up for a long time now, and her fall when she was "sick" actually happened when she was on a bender. People who are alcoholics tend to go on benders when a stress event happens, and if you see pictures of her in the last couple of years, she looks haggard and hammered. Plus she hasn't been on any of the talk shows in a looooong time, another way for the media to cover it up.
When the 3am phone call came to the White House it was call forwarded to State because Obama was entertaining Reggie. When the call got over to State, Hilary knocked over all the scotch bottles by her nightstand trying to turn the phone off.

That they dithered during the attack is another scandal.
Yet another scandal is their placing blame for the attacks on a video.
But the bigger scandal is right in front of us: Benghazi is the Libyan hotbed of Islam. Benghazi was the source of al Qaeda foreign fighters which showed up in Iraq. Why did we have a consulate there? WTF was our CIA doing there?
As Qaddafi was being deposed, his military lost control of 20,000 MANPADs, among other weapons. In my non-moron life, I am an airline pilot, and I'll tell you: That gets my attention.
It is my theory that the CIA was there to search the Libyan black markets to buy as many of these weapons as they could, and if that were all that they were doing, then I'd give them credit for doing this.
However, what many in the West miss is that not only does the Islamic world hate the West, but they hate each other. An Islamic civil war is still raging. A decade ago, it was fought in Iraq, with al Qaeda (Sunni) engaging in sectarian violence with the Shia, who got their support from Iran. Today, that war is being fought in Syria.
Assad is an Alawite...a sect of Shia. The Russians are supporting him because they have had problems of their own with their Muslim Chechens, who are Sunni. The Sunni Arab League and al Qaeda are supporting the rebels against Assad.
My theory continues: What would our CIA do with all these weapons acquired in Libya? I believe they're sending or brokering these weapons to Syria. This would mean that we're indirectly sending weapons from one al Qaeda group to another.
This whole thing is Iran-Contra to the next power.
