of course protection of property is part of the firefighter mission...it's not supposed to cost lives but the forces in play on fires like these or major metro fires are unpredictable.

Yes.  But it must stipulate that the controlled burns not be done by the Forestry Service.  They've caused a lot of damage with their  "controlled" burns.

we moved the office from Century City to downtown LA last weekend.  it's like being in hell without all the hassle of dying.  on the bright side, though, i was there for 3 days and didn't get mugged.  that was a happy surprise!

28 It will be the 19th anniversary on Saturday of the Storm King Fire in CO that burned outside of Glenwood Springs and killed 14 firefighters.

They were Hotshot firefighters from Prineville OR.  There are memorials both in Glenwood Springs and in Prineville in their honor.

I read a story about a prairie fire back in the  1800's.  Gobbled up absolutely everything in it's path,  prairie, buffalo, cows, farms, moving trains, people........   Wildfires are scary shit.

Mark took off a few decades to do gospel music! and yes, they still sounded good.
