POLL: VA gov race, McAuliffe 45, Cuccinelli 41, Sarvis 9. OK, Libertarians you proved your point, you're the kingmakers here. Now suck it up and prevent disaster. Hold your nose and break for Cuccinelli and finish it.
And it looks like Krispy Kreme is gonna be a walkover in NJ. 60/70-something'ish. The Dem is getting blown out.

Christie loosened his belt.
If Quinnipiac is to be believed, Sarvis, the 3rd wheel, is going to give VA to McCauliffe. And if McCauliffe is as bad as I've read, I feel bad for any sane person left in that state. And to think it was once a pretty reliable red.

I also hate "self-promoter" (Cuccinelli) so maybe it's a wash.
I DO know this though...McAuliffe will be an epic disaster with multiple scandals. Can't wait to rub the nose of my Dem neighbors in that in about a year. They bitch about "Republican scandals" and never seem to look at how McAuliffe got where is is today.

"Actually, ANY insurance that you currently have would be grandfathered in so you could keep it. You could decide not to get in the exchange the better plan. I could keep my Acme Insurance, just a high-deductible catastrophic plan. I would not be required to get the better one."

Police will limit crowds near the park. After the seventh inning, people won't be allowed into Fenway or the surrounding streets, and if people already there decide to leave, they can't come back.
Parking restrictions aim to thin out of the number of cars on streets around Fenway starting at 4 p.m., and officials warned people parking in local lots that they'll be stuck there for a while after the game.
The mayor said he'll be asking businesses in downtown Boston to relieve congestion by letting workers go home by 4 p.m. City staff has asked local bar owners to pull outside displays by the fifth inning and cover windows so crowds don't gather outside to watch their TVs.
Enjoy your Series, Beantown!

For the record, I don't believe asking for the libertarian vote is the same as acting entitled to it. This is a common thread amongst libertarians (including myself).
This is one of the things about American politics that fascinates me from a strictly academic standpoint. There are factions who are happy to suffer under a candidate they despise and who doesn't share their view on any issues rather than vote for a candidate who only shares their vews on 70% of issues.

Yes yes, let's rip on libertarians for not "doing the grown-up thing", meaning voting for a party that takes them for granted when they aren't disdainfully looking down their noses at them. It should be pointed out that most people who call themselves libertarians aren't party members of ANY party, they just can't call themselves republicans anymore.

-- I'm not a socon, but the problem is that Libertarians are not even engaging to try and change voter behavior. They're not trying to win primary fights like tea party candidates did and have done (and like successful and failed social conservatives have.) An outside party strategy, being a third-wheel, so to speak, is one strategy. The other is the strategy that social and fiscal conservatives took, infiltrate the party and change it from the inside.
Libertarians could see a lot more success that way, I think, than giving us Gov. McAuliffe.

I've seen poll after poll for years now, including some for this VA guv race, that shows L's go for the D candidate if there's no third choice. Why? Because of teh gheys of course, and the undocumented immigrants of course, and the usual 'them repukes are stupid jeebus freaks who don't believe in teh science" , no concern about the size of govt, just the mindless social issue crap. So yeah, they get my vote this time around because the small govt types still outweigh the idiot social issue types, but it doesn't look like that'll be the case for much longer.

Democrats are obviously coordinated, each attacking republicans and defending certain portions of Obamacare, with Sebelius well briefed on what her response should be.
Republicans are all over the place. Totally uncoordinated, never hammering a point home, no response to outright lies about costs, pretty much the clusterfuck we've come to expect.
Apparently, it was far to complex for our side to have a 30 minute conference call to outline who should cover what topic.

The point is, all of us have only known this two party coke/pepsi game, and we're mostly forced to choose sides, at least on election day. Most of the conservatives I know have quit the republican party more than once.
The rest hold their noses and vote for the lessor of two evils, over and over, and here we are. How's that working out for the country?
Hence the bump in percentage of people self-identifying as libertarians, but whom I suspect would gladly vote for a true small government constitutionally correct conservative/republican.

No, you've got it exactly wrong, and are putting words into your opponent's mouth as well. Didn't you read that study that showed libertarians scored the most of all parties on rationality tests?
See, if democrats keep winning, then it's sweet meteor of death in only a few years, and we can start rebuilding. If Republicans win, then it's going to stabilize for a long time at the current shit level (no, I don't believe that unless the R party gets taken over by Cruzes and Pauls that Obamacare will ever be repeased, even if R's get a majority).
Give me worthwhile R's and I will vote for them, but they have to be comparable to the libertarian candidate. There's no urge in me to vote R and keep the system, a little more and more left every year, chugging along.

The problem is actually that things keep moving too far to the Left? So the solution is to help a guy into office who is going to move things WAY WAY too far to the Left in four years.

Libertarians can not be Kingmakers unless they make a King.
Unless they throw their weight behind the candidate they prefer, they will elect the candidate they do not prefer. This makes them Anti-Kingmakers, because their only effect is to hasten that which they despise.
The way to build a movement is to take that power and use it to achieve something. What they can achieve this year is to elect Cucinnelli and defeat McAuliffe. Until they actually use their votes for some useful purpose, they will remain stuck in the spoiler zone.
Elect Cucinnelli now, and use that power next time 'round to force a more Libertarian candidate out of the Republicans. If you force the Republicans to try to win without your votes, they will have no choice but to run as almost-Democrats.

Yes. It's time for collapse. I'd rather ride out the balkanization/whatever that will happen to the USA than chain myself and my children, for the rest of their lives, to the system we have right now. If democrats collapse things, that's better for me than if R's have me paying Obamacare rates for the rest of my life.
I notice nobody is trying to convince me that R's really, really, will, pinky swear, repeal Obamacare. Because you know they won't. Enough status quo. You R's have made your point, now get with the program and stop voting for people who are "conservative" in the sense that they just want to roll things back to 2010 or 2002.

This makes sense.
That's why capital-L-Libertarians will never do it. They'd rather spark up in their mom's basement and prattle on about their superiority on the internet.
This, from what I gather, is about Cooch's unease about blowjobs or something. LLibertarians would rather focus on that - something that will never amount to anything in real life - and hand the election to McAwful who absolutely will without a goddamn doubt visit all kinds of all kinds of legislative mayhem on VA.
Idiocy. Pure idiocy.

You don't need me to defend you.
I was, and for the most part, still go for the light, but quick response.
It doesn't require deep thinking, and doesn't make my brain hurt.
But I remember that although you and I did not always agree on a topic or view, I never regretted taking the time to read your words.
And in every case, I was smarter on the topic for taking the time to read your words.
In some cases, I had to read them two or three times to fully understand what you were trying to get across.
Anyhow.....glad to see you.

You know, I've never "sparked up" in my life. As long as we're throwing around shit like that, how much of my money have you flushed down TARP lately?

obviously you have no idea what TARP is or its status. Did you mean to refer to the Stimulus package?

I'm just stating facts. Do with them as you please or ignore them all together. And paying out settlements doesn't prove squat except that Penn state wanted this to go away as soon as possible as it was and is a no win situation.

No, I'm voting for Sarvis because I'm not going to be a foot soldier helping out the GOP power wing
------------
Um, but it's Cuccinelli who is actually taking on the "GOP power wing." There was a backroom deal whereby Bill Bolling was "supposed" to run for the Gov seat this term, but he got outmaneuvered by Cuccinelli. This is why you don't see many VA GOPer in the "power wing" actually doing anything to help Cuccinelli win this race.
Hell, Bolling gave an interview a couple of months ago where he tried to torpedo Cuccinelli by questioning his qualifications.
If you are truly tired of warmed over Democrats like Bolling continually getting access to the levers of power, the best message you can send them is electing the guy who evicted him from his "turn in line." Cuccinelli took a chance by bucking the VA GOP Establishment, hoping that conservatives would support him, after all.

more Libertarian candidate out of the Republicans.
And just how will voting for the R make them scared of people voting for libertarian? It's always just an excuse to say vote for us this time and we'll get to the real issues next time, well, my first election was in '92 and after 20 + years i'm ready to move on to the next time now, so i'm not wasting any more time on trying to make the R's live up to their small govt ideals. Like i said earlier, i think L's are going in the mindless social issues direction, but for now they're still a small govt party so i'll be voting for them instead of waiting yet again for R's to fight "next time".

All you get is a crash and error message every time you load/refresh a page that has video embedded.

Of course, since they bundle all kinds of adware/malware with the Reader, it doesn't surprise me that they're vulnerable.
This is one reason I'll never move to the Adobe CC stuff. Thanks but no thanks.

So.....child rape that occurs on campus during officially sanctioned events run by the employees or those with official relationships to the university aren't the fault of the university?
Gotcha!

Must disagree. The Dem is winning in NJ too. You can dress up a pig in many ways; it is still a pig.
