Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- A national farm machine exhibition and meeting of inventors took place at the Institute for Agricultural Mechanization of the Academy of Agricultural Science from Tuesday to Thursday.

Presented there were more than 260 pieces of farm machines of dozens of kinds and their spare parts and jigs invented and manufactured by officials, scientists, technicians and workers in the field of agriculture through scientific research and mass technological innovation movement.

Drew attention of visitors were deep layer plough, well-nourished cold-bed rice seedling transplanter, rice and maize thrashers and various other thrashers and video showing the process of farm machine production.

Wow.  260 farm machines.   That's approaching 300.

99 Small rant here. I'm a software tester. That means I work with a lot of technologies. When I am looking for any new position each requires a set of technologies as required to do the job well. Each position has core technologies that are non-negotiable, and others that can be learned and are a softer barrier if you don't know them well. Human Resources for software companies don't know tech. They just don't. They don't know which things can be picked up along the way and which take years to use and understand well. What ends up happening is they look for keywords in the job description and the candidate's resume. Both sides, hiring and hoping to be hired know this. So both end up throwing everything and the kitchen sink on the requirement or resume. If you've had some exposure to a tech, put it on your resume. If the job might possibly require a tech, throw it on the description. It's an arms race. But it totally breaks down when the core technologies are not listed on the requirement, or the HR person ignores that facet. I just interviewed for a position that requires deep knowledge of C and C++. I have shallow knowledge of those languages and deep knowledge of .NET specifically C#. I didn't apply to this position, I applied to another one and somehow HR put my resume into this bucket. This has happened more than once and with top-tier companies that are known around the world. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

It doesn't make any sense to pay $1857/month and have a $3K deductible.

Look for a plan with a deductible of about $15,000.  Pay the reduced monthly premium and put the difference into a savings account.  If you stay healthy  for a year, you'll be money ahead.

120 Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse at September 27, 2013 01:16 PM (DmNpO) On a Thursday conference call, a group of House conservatives consulted with Senator Ted Cruz of Texas about how to respond to the leadership’s fiscal strategy. Sources who were on the call say Cruz strongly advised them to oppose it, and hours later, Speaker John Boehner’s plan fizzled. It’s the latest example of Cruz leading the House’s right flank. The private call came together after Boehner unveiled his strategy at a Republican conference meeting earlier this week. Boehner’s plan — to focus on a debt-limit package, rather than a drawn-out CR battle — made many conservatives uneasy. As they mulled a response, they reached out to Cruz. On the call, Cruz told them that Boehner was making a mistake, and urged his friends to fight until the end on the CR. The group agreed, and they complained that Boehner’s shift to the debt limit was a diversion. Senator Mike Lee of Utah joined Cruz on the call, and both senators said they’d stand with House conservatives as they opposed the leadership. By the call’s end, there was a consensus: until the CR talks are complete, Republicans should whip “no” on Boehner’s debt-limit plan, as a way of preventing the leadership from directing the strategy. And that’s exactly what happened late Thursday afternoon: GOP whip Kevin McCarthy worked the floor, but couldn’t find the votes for Boehner’s debt-limit plan. After McCarthy reported back about the Cruz-inspired uprising, the leadership shelved it. ht - flopping aces via NRO

Muslim hardliners have threatened to hijack the competition despite major concessions from the government and organizers.

The bikinis that have been a pageant hallmark were replaced with more conservative sarongs three months ago, after a small but vocal group complained that showing too much skin would be offensive to the world's more populous Muslim country. But that only temporarily quieted protests over the event, which holds its internationally televised finale on Saturday.

But it was even missing a lot of Star Trek ships, some really obvious Stargate ships (or they located them oddly, misidentified a few, and frankly if you're going to include Eve or Halo you need Star Trek Online, The X series especially X3, and probably Homeworld, Mass Effect, Starcraft, etc. And I didn't see Andromeda either. Might have been hidden somewhere but well-hidden. Frankly if you say you did a *complete* something it helps to be within light years of complete. Just say "we updated this and added more ships" and don't go all OMG PERFECT and maybe people won't think you're a troll. Maybe. Some people would claim that picking apart the chart is nerdy, but there is no other point to the chart in the first place.

They brought in a couple of .NET programmers to ask me questions and those guys did the situational questions (how would you handle a Dev that didn't have time to work on your bug). Then they brought in two Java guys who proceeded to write a bunch of Java file read code on the board and asked me what was wrong with the implementation and how to fix it. I proceeded to ask them about forty "what does this do" questions, then fixed the code. They rejected me because of that coding portion.

249 ObamCare will likely destroy private insurance, but true "single payer" will destroy our currency.

If you put everybody on MediCare/MediCaid, you're going to see a run on the dollar.  We won't even be able to pay the interest on our debt in a few years, and then health care becomes a universal entitlement?  When does the world figure out that the combined GDP of nearly every nation won't be able to pay back our debt?

I do think the GOP though needs to come up with plans beyond just repealing ObamaCare to make health care affordable, because everything is not going to fall in place after it falls apart.

250 Read up-thread what some of the Horde and/or their families are going to have to pay, just in premiums, thanks to this POS bill. And now, if they say "Huh? That's more than I'm going to spend in a year," they're subject to a penalty for "not paying their fair share."

yes i see how it's going to kill/destroy many of us financially, definitely my family  and my kids  families at the costs that have been indicated by others in here .

so why are we delaying this action?  If we know this will happen  to us,  we KNOW it. why is it delayed?

shouldn't we allow this so America wakes up?

another election?

252 Toomey is one of my Senators I just sent this note via email Senator Toomey, I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for maintaining your principled position with regard to the Senate votes on H.J.RES.59. It was refreshing to see one of my senators voting his conscious and standing his ground on the vote to invoke cloture, and the subsequent votes. I am truly disappointed with your colleagues whom voted to invoke cloture, and then voted to provide themselves political cover by voting against the amendment and the final passage. Regards,

253 Insurance companies make their money by investing the  incoming cash flow.  There is potentially another 30 million new policyholders that will provide that cash flow either through their own purchases or government subsidies.   I think that is what these executives are thinking.   They also wrongly believe that Obamacare will allow them to control costs.   Or maybe they're not and you will see a reduction in approved care.

No kidding. They wrote that.

I understand that the opposite approach (Tom "The Hammer" DeLay) isn't always ideal either, but we saw the same publicly aired clusterfuckery dissension during the last debt limit debacle.

If it's limited to conference calls where they debate and decide what approach to take- fine.  That's how it should work.

You assume correctly, if we were publicly traded, which we are not, we would be the same size as Coca Cola.  For us, it is not about the young people and the individual mandate, we had to build the exchanges to be allowed to sell insurance in the individual space that first year, which would be fatal, because we think that once people get their insurance that first time they will stick with what they got.  With a lot of our group business going to the exchanges, we had to be there.

263 and final passage along party lines... I need the list of R senators that are too dumb to understand the procedural vote to invoke cloture forfeited their only chance to tactically seize the initiative and fully debate the amendment. final vote on cloture means that a large number of R Senators voted to invoke cloture. and all of those assholes will be all over the sunday media claiming they voted against the CR.

Great Moments in SETTLED SCIENCE:

Aristotle
"Fleas are formed from dust, and maggots arise out of dead flesh. Read a book once in a while. But, don't bother reading my books because there's nothing to color."

John Dalton
"All atoms of a given element are exactly the same, and can neither be divided nor destroyed. Quite unlike your trailer park the next time a tornado comes rumbling through."

Empedocles
"Aphrodite lit the fire in the human eye which shone out from the eye making sight possible. Try graduating from high school first, then we can have an intelligent debate about this."

Aristotle
"Vacuums are not possible. The only people who say otherwise are paid shills for Big Oil."

Democritus
"Iron atoms have little hooks, and salt atoms taste pointy. Why are some people so afraid of science?"

Ptolemy
"Thanks to the ground-breaking research being done on "epicycles", we can now say with more certainty than ever that the Earth is the center of the Universe. Only religious nut-jobs refuse to see that."

Aristotle
"A body sinks or floats on water because of it's shape. Try turning off Fox news with all their pro-density propaganda."

Aristarchus of Samos
"Obviously, the Sun is the center of the Universe. And planets are just like giant race cars circling Talledega. Is that simple enough for you?"

Copernicus
"Don't blame them for thinking the Earth was the center of the Universe back then. They were ignorant. They weren't as enlightened as we are today. Thanks to science, we now know that the Sun is the center of the Universe."

Albert Einstein
"I'll put this in a way even you religitards can understand. God does not play dice with the Universe."

Isaac Newton
"While I was discovering Aether, you were doing your cousin."

Ernest Rutherford
"Atoms contain a very tiny impenatrable core. I would make an analogy about "knowledge" and "skulls" , but you mouth-breathers would be too ignorant to get it."

Newton
"I solved Gravity. If I have seen further it is because I am surrounded by dwarfs. Probably the results of cousin-marriage...."

Universal
"Everything is made up of four elements, fire, water, earth, and air. When you learn to count to 4 this will all make sense."

"Bad air causes disease. That's why the overwhelming consensus of scientists have chosen to name the disease "Mal-aria".

"The overwhelming consensus of alchemists are "extremely certain" that it is possible to turn lead into gold. Unfortunately, we need a philosopher's stone. And creating a philospher's stone is going to require ALOT of gold. And ALOT of windmills. Don't ask..."

270 Derak,

I'm so sorry for you. I'm glad you survived, and I'll be praying for you and everyone out there who's like you that you don't get sick again. This is criminal.

My mother's on the phone with the Blue Cross guy right now. She barely even gets a subsidy, and she's retired and on social security (under 65 tho, so no medicare yet). But he did tell her who she's paying for. She pays for people earning less than $20,000, who get all the services she can't, for $50 a month. She pays $700, they pay $50. Wonderful.

I've been through a lot, but I don't think I've ever felt so violated in my life. This is like getting raped. No, scratch that, it's like watching someone you love get raped. For nothing. This is for absolutely nothing.

I hope that our brave Senators who just voted for cloture know that they have the blood of everyone who can't get care now on their hands. I'm gonna call my fucking "representatives" and tell them that. Who cares if I get an audit.

271 polnikes i believe insurance companies were a big part in writing the aca?

Posted by: willow at September 27, 2013 01:47 PM (nqBYe)

No, they were not.  It was in large part written by an Obama crony.  I forget his name, but, he is not a free market guy.  What the insurance companies have been doing is try to keep the regulations implementing ACA from being worse than they would to be otherwise.  Sometimes we win on that, sometimes we don't.

We will offer the rates that we are allowed to offer by the each State's Insurance Commissioner.  Do you even know who yours is or what their platform may be?  You will want to know that from now on...

273 I normally avoid making a big deal over nothing but in this instance, since someone with some talent spent an impressive amount of his time making that spaceship chart, I thought I would point out that at least two somewhat obvious ships are missing from his chart - whatever spaceship humans built and were ziping around in in sg something or other, also sg universe ship is missing. I am embarrassed I know this, however, given how little I know about these things whoever forgot to put them in shlould hide their face in shame.

The Stargate ships are there, from the movie and shows.

275 I have a feeling we will eventually find out obamacare was all about revenge, especially from a racial perspective. If not revenge then about achieving some sort of justice equality, and or parity. If you look at who is getting it the worst it is people that have jobs and insurance. more whites have jobs and insurance than minorities; save probably for asians. whether it is simply a matter of screwing whitey or more of a shake things up introduce some chaos, uncertainty, and dislocation into the system and see if minorities are better off whenever everything settles, I am unsure. heck, it may be that having everyone on a 29.5 hour work week is a frenchish solution to unemployment - 35 hour work week. employed are going to have fewer hours so employers will hire more people to have enough hours and do the job. no amount of stupidity or duplicity, in any combination, is beyond obama and his evil minions.
