Amnesty Bill Already Turning the Magnets Back On
— Ace

One "pathway to citizenship" is difficult; the other is easy -- just sneak across the border and wait for the Amnestias to amnesty you.

Politicians are stupid, but people aren't. Illegal immigrants -- I'm sorry, "undocumented criminals" -- are already rushing to take advantage of the much more generous Option B.

I'd say it's more like "moral hazards" are a real thing.
Liberal are a giant contradiction in that on some issues (like this one) they assume people won't act according to their own self interest.
Yet everywhere else they regulate, tax, etc. because "people can't be trusted to make good decisions."

6 Related but technically off topic: Is it important enough to the morons to get polling places out of the housing projects into more neutral sites that you would want to get involved a couple hours a week or help to pay for people to do it? Merovign kind of shot me down yesterday afternoon, but I still think it's a worthy, doable task at the municipal level. It's something I really think I will be doing over the next couple years in one city as a sort of an activist pilot project. What do you think?

I don't understand it TN, to be honest.

Polling places should be spread out according to the populace.  If you start this arms race, then the Dems will just start removing rural poling places into the city and make the red staters in flyover country drive all day to vote.

Moving the polls to "more neutral" places (which are likely to be farther away) won't accomplish anything (unless you're unstated goal is to make it harder for the people living in those areas to vote, which is not going to go over well.)

Something to consider is that even in rich areas (like where I grew up...and I guess where I live now) the polling places are far from "neutral ground."

Consider that I had to vote in a school, next to kids finger paints, while voting on a property tax increase for education funding (had to, my polling place is a church now.)

Maybe it'd be better to focus on neutrality across all the polling places in general.  Have people go out and point out things that may "sway" voters. (This isn't just limited to giant Obama Murals I might add.)  Raise hell and force enforcement that these things be removed/covered up (preferably before polls open.)

They see those moral hazards just fine if means "gov't needs to step in".

What they refuse to see is that the people in gov't can act selfishly and against the greater good.   For some reason, they think if it's "for the people", everything will be done correctly and with perfect accountability.

Correct intentions excuse everything to the left.

How about "alien criminals"? Kind of gets the alien aspect in there.

You know, it occurred to me the other day that while it is impractical to send all of them back, that it would be reasonable to grant them a legal residency status, but - in honor of their long-term violation of our laws - deny them citizenship FOREVER, and revoke their right to stay if they get convicted of a violent crime. We are the new tories, and when Rush Limbaugh dies one day, there will be little left wing children dancing in the streets who had never heard him before, because it will be his fault they cant get jobs, the country has gone to shit, and their future looks as bleak as Eastern Europe circa 1950.

I've only noticed one McD's shut down in SoCal. It was flipped into a handful mini-condos.

McD's have been doing quite well in this economy.

If anything's changed its the battalions of food trucks congregating in nice neighborhoods during lunch and dinner. This is having no small effect on mom-n-pop eateries.

When amnesty happens, and there aren't any jobs for these people, they'll be enrolled on the welfare wagon.

The wheels are coming off the welfare wagon, so it'll be time to raise taxes on the people that do have jobs.

This will get the welfare wagon a little further down the road...  but not much.

Is that so hard to see?

If you wanted to become a Mexican citizen it would be nearly impossible.  In many countries they don't want you as a citizen and they don't want you to own any property either.  A lot of these liberal expats are finding these little picky technical details now, after they've renounced their American citizenship.

On a tangential note, this may not even be a problem that can be exploited if everyone's SS monies went into a LITERAL bank account.  A personal lock box for every taxpayer.

115 Majority minority nothing. Skin color and race have nothing to do with it. What we're doing is throwing away our laws, history, and culture to accommodate a large group that refuses to assimilate and actively hates everything we used to be. We're bringing in millions of low wage workers when there are millions already here who can't find work. This is insanity and national suicide. How are social services going to pay for all this? It doesn't add up. It's insane. And if we do it once, we'll do it again and again until the system breaks down completely.

They sound stupid sometimes, because they are arguing for policies there are no good arguments for.

128 31 Politicians are acting in the best interests of politicians. DERRR. They are importing a new electorate with lower expectations. - The thing is, this is ultimately white genocide, because importing a whole new population plus forced integration means the end of the old population as an identifiable group. There is a new, different population, and the old population is gone. Imposing conditions that make it impossible to preserve a people and its way of life is genocide.
