Like I said, the public has seen these movies before, and they're tired of them.
The conventional wisdom is that when you poll "all adults" as opposed to a tighter screening for "registered voters," Democrats generally do better. If that is the case, the latest poll from The Economist/YouGov is the worse news yet for a president obviously in over his head with the Russians and Syria. Obama currently sits at 38% approve/56% disapprove with all adults....
With registered voters, Obama is doing a little better with 43% approving, 55% disapproving.

Probably, they can't afford to move them. The people who we bought a house from used the money to pay off the mortgage and that was it. They did take the washer and dryer, but I think it was to the dump (the guy had a big truck) because they 'did not convey'.

If they work and ain't all trashed looking, you can sell'em on craigs list for a couple hundred bucks.
A washer is OK if you run a couple of empty "full" loads through with a lot of bleach to sterilize everything. A dryer you can wipe out with disinfectant, clean the lint traps and vents and be good to go.
Of course the shit may be busted and they didn't want to pay to have it carted away. Junkyards pay about $9/100lb for scrap appliances.

To make that character work, you often have to make her so flat that she is utterly non-compelling and the audience can't really identify with her even if they are raging feminazis.

On a more serious issue, the dryer isn't hooked to an exhaust exit, the unit is a sealed condo, so instead it just directs into a plastic container with some water. But when the home inspector ran it on a test the space started smelling like a laundromat. I know they make dryers with internal lint/exhaust receptacles to collect the lint (and the semen).

Our house has some great looking hardwood, including Peg and board in the fireplace room (which is a huge room BTW)
It shows the signs of having had carpet over it at one point though (especially upstairs where someone did a real shitty tacking job).
Thankfully it's in relatively good shape other than that. So there's not a lick of carpet in the house anymore (excluding area rugs of course, which are a different thing).
And only one patch of vinyl that makes up the foyer and kitchen (but it's decent looking so we'll deal with later.)

I've been sucked into listening to orchestral soundtracks. It started when I heard Clint Mansell's 'Lux Aeterna' in the movie 'Requiem For A Dream'--which is, by the way, one of the most beautifully made and unendurably tragic film I've ever seen. After that, I got hooked on John Murphy's work, whose 'Adagio in D Minor' that plays in the films 'Kick-Ass' and 'Sunshine' gets played over and over again. It's an earworm, but in a good way.

Is there any reason you'd have to vent an electric dryer other than the heat and humidity? (Gas is obviously a different story).
Heck, I've got a cousin who did some HVAC work, and said that during the winter you can unhook your dryer vent to keep the house humidity up.
(The problem with that aforementioned hardwood, we actually got down to 19% relative humidity last winter in the house.)

And 2 of the binds are faux wood (2 are real, and the 3 shades are cellular).
We also took the curtains we had from the townhome and hung those up in 2 rooms. (Standard curtains from Kohls' on an adjustable rod.)
We have 1 curtain from Kohl's we bought for the sliding glass door, again with an adjustable rod, cost about $35. It doesn't look great but it gets the job done.
(We didn't have much of a choice, we're an east/west facing house and have some nosy neighbors behind us. So between the beating sun, and the stares in the kitchen, we accelerated our plans on that.)
Only 2 rooms don't have something, my office (well it has a tension rod and some cheap curtains on it that came with the house)
and the empty room (Which has nothing at all).

What you're shooting for with humidity is an even 35% or better. Not venting a dryer will give you 100% for a few hours and then down to less than 20%.
Your wood cabinets, trim and floors will turn into pretzels.

Eh, All I got is two things:
1) We put less money down so we could dump more cash into the house itself
and
2) The townhome we had prior had relatively low rent, and so we were stockpiling money for the home purchase.
As I said, we assembled 2 rooms out of curtains we had from the townhome (Prefabs aren't all that expensive).
I'd have to add up everything else again, but IIRC it was less than $900 for the other windows (2 in the kitchen, 2 in the family room, 1 huge bay in the dining room, 1 in the bedroom and 1 in the master bath.)
It sounds like a lot, but we did it in chunks over 8 months or so. (Installs were all ourselves with the help of my parents.)
On the flip side though, we've done 0 landscaping beyond annuals and the driveway still needs to be resurfaced. Priorities.

Most old buildings like that have very tall windows. Frame one's opening down a bit and fit an insulated plywood filler box on top you can route the vent through. If it was rehab'd that framing down to smaller window openings may have already been done for thermal efficiency reasons.
