AOSHQDD U.S. Senate 2014
— CAC

A very lazy piece, but since everybody's already writing about the races, it is long overdue. So here's where the Senate races stand right now:

BattleForTheSenate2014preview.png

Republicans have a 50/50 shot at flipping the Senate, with the usual caveat that this is the GOP we are talking about. McConnell is the only truly vulnerable Republican, while Democrats are defending a plethora of seats. Open seats in swing states either outright favor the GOP or are at worst leaning Democratic, giving the Democrats even less room to wiggle and protect their majority.

Again, until the GOP screws that up.

I don't know who Jason Lewis is, but it sure appears as though he is trying to create a centrally planned infrastructure within which people can do things with individual liberty. Seems strange to me, but he raised $450 large and I didn't, so grain of salt. I can't quite tell what he thinks success would look like, but given how scarce individual liberty is these days, I hope he finds it.

They have already given us an endless supply of lie,   after lie,   after lie.   We should be extolling what makes us a better choice.    Lower taxes and smaller Government.   We should be repeating that over and over and pair each one with one of their easy to document lies.

It is also time for us to come up with some good clearly defined alternatives to the madness that has been crammed down our throats the last 5 years.

I don't see how the birth rate in the US has any correlation to the labor market at the time. You own chart shows the vast majority of those born after 1990 would just now be in the labor market. Broken out by state? 2/3's would be in TX and CA, NOT NC.

Posted by: Tattoo De Plane at December 05, 2013 09:06 PM (Y92Nd) That is simply not the case in ag workers. Most of the work is piece work, with a minimum wage guaranteed. A Black sued a farmer in Lumberton because he wasn't making as much as the Hispanics. He wasn't working and picking as much as the Hispanics and didn't want to.

197 What's the difference between Geo-synchronous and Geo-stationary orbit? Both have 1436 minute periods (one sidereal day), plus or minus a couple of seconds (equivalent to 22,300 statute mile altitude, more or less) A geostationary orbit has essentially zero inclination (angle between the orbital path and the equator) and zero eccentricity (essentially, the difference between the long and short axis of the orbital ellipse, as in a circle). It appears to always be in the same place in the sky. A geostationary orbit is a special case of a geosynchronous orbit. The inclination and eccentricity of a geosynch orbit don't have to be zero. An object in geosynch orbit returns to the same point at the same time each day, but have a figure-8 ground trace. Former 2025A, Space Systems Analyst/Orbital Analyst. 208 @ 179:

I think the key to success is finding some kind of delicate balance between the moderate squishes and those who are much more hard core.   I do not care much for Rove or McConnell myself,   but both are much preferable to Harry Reid or Chucky the schmuck Schumer.   We have to find a way for everybody to fit inside the same tent;   otherwise we end up with the disaster we currently have in DC.

Look at the bright side.   That is what we have to overcome,   but the libs will start to tear each other apart over obarkycare.   Especially if we can gain some solid ground in the 2014 mid terms.

He only needs 3 to do that.  A +3 Rats would give them 51 without seating any of the regularly-scheduled Senators elected in 2016.  Do remember the Senate is the final arbiter of the qualifications of its members, 51 is a quorum, and the majorities/supermajorities required are based on the number of sworn Senators.

228 Hagen's done.  She got in on Obama's coattails because Dole was seen as all talk and no performance.  Hagen has been even worse in that regards.

In Colorado the Democrat governor may be in trouble and Obama is not popular. As the state reverts to its more libertarian bent after the flirtation with Obama, Udall is in trouble.

Minnesota is a wild card.  Keep in mind that even on Obama's coattails and with all the recount hanky panky involving intermixing the provisional ballots with those to be recounted Franken still got less than 42% of the total vote.  In 2008 and in the last governor's race some of the slimier Republicans played footsie with the Independence Party.   Minnesota badly needs a Hubert Humphrey of the right who can unite common interests among the GOP and the Independence party while purging the later of the truther kooks the way HHH united the Democrats and a Farmer Labor party purged of commies in the 1940s.
