Let me count the ways (just from the one trailer I've seen) 1: The people in Elysium have infinite energy and resources. Yes, I'm pretty sure it says that. If you have infinite energy and resources, and you don't want that low-life scum on the planet below you to get all upitty, you just kill them all. That the people on Elysium haven't shows they're not the kind of people who do that kind of thing. 2: If the people on Elysium have infinite energy (which, frankly MEANS infinite resources), why on earth would they make trips to and from Earth? 3: If the people on Elysium have infinite energy, why would they waste time with one single uber-soldier, when they could have a frickin' army of them? Or, you know, simply nuke the "hero's" site from orbit, just to be sure? Of course, it's possible that the Elysium doesn't have infinite energy and resources, and needs Earth. In which case there is absolutely no reason for a violent uprising, since the people on Elysium don't know how to do things like mine ore and drill for oil and such. Juries  are not provided information on settlement negotiations.   They only know that one side  has not agreed to the other sides settlement demand thus the trial continues.   They come to their own conclusions.  

 

I do not retain counsel again  that have previously taken the attitude that a case is not defensible contrary our evalution.   Unfortunately a common MO of  more than a few defense attorneys is that a claim is defensible right up to the time a trial date has been set and then its ,  'we should settle this thing' .

The tour of the Arch is rather a disappointment, so be prepared--the strange elevator ride is the highlight.  However, the museum at the base of it is great--it's theme is the opening of the West and the last time I was there, the exhibits were great.

I need to make an exception to my earlier statement.  You CAN use the court system to make a point,  if you have the money.   My boss has  gotten sufficiently hacked  off in the past to push for a trial  to avoid  paying a settlement on a harrassment-type  suit, just to  stick it to whoever is trying to stick us for  a quick buck,  especially when he knows he has enough money to ruin someone foolish enough to pursue a baseless claim.

 

Also, we have a large bank client who  has been the target of harrassing suits by a local dickbag  'consumer's rights' attorney.  They've sent us  explicit directions that if we are sued by  this guy,  THEY will bear the  full cost of  defending  the suit  and will pound this asshole into a grease spot with their Bay St. lawyers.

Yeah, Quayle who is actually quite bright was labeled an idiot, while, Barky who mis-speaks every d@mn time he gives a major screech or appears on Leno or whatever, is always excused because, "He's a genius, a Black genius!  He could be a rocket surgeon with a just half hour's briefing."
