— Ace Today is the anniversary of Andrew's death.
Two days ago, his mother died.
Arlene was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was also a pioneer, having been the first female trust officer made vice president at Bank of America.

A year of loss for the Breitbart family. I'm not a praying man but I'll make an exception.
Andrew was fond of telling me he "only read the comments" here. He liked me, but he loved you guys.

The largest compliment Breitbart could give someone was, "He's a warrior." All men respect guts, and Breitbart more than most men.
I think on this anniversary of his death we should honor him -- and ourselves -- by seeking to be Warriors. And not just in politics, though certainly that was where Breitbart encouraged it the most frequently.
Breitbart himself lived a brave life, confident in himself, always questioning and always questing. He made himself bigger than life by living as outrageously as he could.
He always had big plans -- Breitbart notoriously had five other plans cooking on his stove when he was talking to you about one -- and I think he had an idea, intuitively perhaps, but perhaps arrived at by conscious probing, that there's more to life that what we're given.
Politically he revolted openly at the media-Democratic prison -- he wasn't here to meekly take the scraps the media-Democratic complex had seen fit to offer, he was here to demand his right to a proper meal.
And I think that sense informed every part of him. He wasn't on this earth to take what little the material world was offering him; he was here to insist upon more.
He was a big man, but his spirit was gigantic.
There aren't many like him. The world couldn't hold too many like him.
He would have made an outstanding Pirate.
I like to imagine that somewhere in the next world, Andrew's causing someone some amount of trouble.
"I Can't Stand To Say Goodbye:" John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting wrote a song for Andrew's funeral (in three days). He performed it there. He's posted the demo track at Breitbart.com.

The loss of Breitbart wasn't just a loss for his family, it was a loss for America. He never wavered, he never backed down. He was truly a warrior.
RIP Andrew Breitbart.

Buying up "our" TV shows, channels, an our guns/ammos magazines?
Good luck with that! We'll just shift to a newer resource.
The AARP learned a costly lesson during Obamacare for its unwavering support...hell gun manufacturers that sided with Clinton on the original AWB learned a costly lesson.
We might have to suffer under their government, but in the private free market we're still in charge of our own path.
We adapt as needed.
The left can buy up everything they want...sooner or later their time is going to come and having "our" TV channels and magazines isn't going to protect them when the SHTF.

I met Breitbart here in the Motor City last year when he spoke at a fundraiser a few weeks before he passed on. We spoke about a few things, including the AOS commenting crew. When he took the floor, he hinted at some of the plans he had, and covered an upcoming bombshell he planned on dropping.
It was a pretty good night overall.

I still think it's not inappropriate to point out that IF the left wanted to destroy the right, and wanted to start killing off their biggest threats prior to the '12 elections, it's hard to think of anyone higher on the list than Andrew Breitbart.
Maybe that's just coincidence. There certainly hasn't been any evidence otherwise, but good spies and assassins don't leave evidence behind, so...

There aren't many like him. The world couldn't hold too many like him.
He was a unique combination of brains, street smarts, impeccable instincts, humor, self-confidence, and most of all, he had BALLS
Very few if any of us can fill those shoes, we're not wired for it nor do we have his unique blend of skills and creative mind
But his words and lessons can be learned by all of us. We can know from his life that you can fight City Hall, it can be done. It won't be done all at once, Andrew knew that as we lost by increments, we would have to regain our freedoms by increments, one small victory and many defeats at a time

It does, actually. But god that version is so intolerably awful. Costello thought so too: he immediately remade it as an acoustic version (which you can find as a bonus track on the 2-CD reissues of one of the later albums). Shoulda posted that one instead.
Nevertheless, I'm just busting your balls. I know why you posted it, and I was pretty sure that was the lyric you were referring to.

Ironically, in a pop-culture dominated society, this could be his most damaging gaffe to date. When TFG makes a "57 states" comment, it's attributed to fatigue, etc. because basic geography doesn't matter to LIVs. But when he says "Jedi mind meld", he's offended the LIV's pop-culture sensibilities, and the "smartest preznit evah!" meme begins to lose some of its sheen.

I don't watch but think you get the point...the illusion of Reagan was that the job was that easy...the illusion of Obama is that the job is that hard...

152The Capitol should have been moved to middle of the Country a long time ago.

That just shifts the power. We don't need to move the balance of power, we need to decentralize it. There is a model that we can look to if we only try. Its called federalism.
I've been thinking that maybe we need to stop using limited government (which isn't selling IMO) to decentralized government (which may not do any better).
Instead of cutting spending, focus on block grants.

Instead of cutting spending, focus on block grants.
Worth a try, but I'm not sure how well it will work. Block grants (despite how well they work) are apparently inventions of the Devil (to hear Democrats describe them). And "Decentralized" sounds just close enough to "deregulated" that I'm virtually certain we'd hear about how Conservatives are advocating a return to the Wild West.
Not that the Media's opposition is a reason not to pursue the policy, but it's something to think about while in the planning stages.

When he died many of us mourned and were as shocked as if we knew him, even though most of us never did. I think it was because we knew he was fighting on our behalf, doing things that itÂ’d never occurred to us to do. Hopefully it made us a little more courageous about taking on the leftists in our circles too. I know I got more mouthy as a result.
Had never truly grieved someone before that I never knew; a bizarre experience. Still miss him so much.

I feel dejected a lot recently when I see and hear the attacks upon our country. I believe that Andrew would say something like "Get off of your damn ass and fight back!".
If we allow the statists to lower our morale and continue to attack that which made this country great then we have already lost.
Bayonets!

My new name for Barky: ВОЖДЬ Барак Обама.
"Vozhd" means "supreme leader". It was the informal title given to Iosef Zhugashvilli (Stalin).

The thing I most wish he were here for, because I did value his ability to sense where the lines with the public were was whether or not there was still a salvageable Republic or if we needed to shift focus.
I have been doing serious soul searching for going now on 1/2 year to try to reason through where we are.

is our loyalty to the soil or the parchment?
If the soil we're doomed they'll keep importing enough aliens to win, if the parchment we may need a tactical retreat...
and a harder new nation to defend it.

The best part about him is that he would retweet some of the troll comments here just to show how inhuman they are because they are the losers in life who try to make themselves feel better by being slime.

I kind of looked at Breitbart as an everyday Joe, loving what should be loved and hating what should be hated. Passionately honest. He wasn't afraind of using the actual word "liar" or "hypocrite" in response to utter bullshit. In your face responses - no pussy-footing around. A voice for everyman's righteous anger. Miss him.

I was volunteering that election. I "turned" when I went from relative affluence to poverty as a youth going from my grandfather to mother's I knew the people who ran the subsidized apartments i lived in were carter fans and I knew grandpa liked Reagan and then the teachers favored Carter with homilies such as "Reagan will close the schools."
Sheer idiocy, it made me analyze their pap harder starting at ~7-9 years old by the time I was 12 I was a hard charger.
