As Predicted, A New Obama Adminstration Scandal Before Noon
— andy

Me, 6:55am: "New Obama administration scandal by noon? I'll take the under."

A mere 24 minutes later, this story was published: EPA waives fee requests for friendly groups, denies conservative groups

Conservative groups seeking information from the Environmental Protection Agency have been routinely hindered by fees normally waived for media and watchdog groups, while fees for more than 90 percent of requests from green groups were waived, according to requests reviewed by the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

I have no idea where these low-level employees could have gotten the idea that it's okay to treat people differently based on their political leanings.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a president in the White House who referred to Americans who disagree with him as 'our enemies.' Think about that. He actually used that word. When Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush used the word 'enemy,' they reserved it for global terrorists and foreign dictators -- enemies of the United States. Enemies of freedom. Enemies of our country. Today, sadly, we have president who uses the word 'enemy' for fellow Americans -- fellow citizens. He uses it for people who disagree with his agenda of bigger government -- people speaking out for a smaller, more accountable government that respects freedom and allows small businesses to create jobs. Mr. President, there's a word for people who have the audacity to speak up in defense of freedom, the Constitution, and the values of limited government that made our country great. We don't call them 'enemies.' We call them 'patriots.'

John Boehner didn't know how right he was there.

Update: As a reminder, there's another scandal involving EPA and their use of private email accounts (e.g., former administrator Lisa 'Richard Windsor' Jackson) that CEI's Chris Horner was already pursuing.

Well the problem stems from the fact that that congress has ceased legislating and instead empowers regulators, which as really thrown off the whole "checks and balances" thing.

Of course this is an artifact of the size of federal government as well.

54 People used to ask the (late, lamented) BFF and I how we could be such good friends when our political views were polar opposites. Okay, to be fair, it was more people staring gape mouthed at the BFF and pointing at me mid-rant and saying "how the hell do you put up with her" but I digress. The reason we were able to do so is because neither of us viewed the other as the enemy. We each thought the other was completely and utterly wrong but we did not consider the other the enemy. That was the key point. Plus she lived in a whole other country so I didn't give a crap about what she thought about how her country should be run and vice versa. There's that too. But mainly the enemy thing. There was a piece up on NRO yesterday or the day before about some activists at Swarthmore who disrupted what was an ostensible public debate by means of clapping down any conservative speaker. My first response was how utterly boring as that was a tactic back when Polly wasn't yet an egg and I was in college. My second response was that i was glad to see those on the Left point blank admitting that they do not believe that those on the other side should be granted any space in which to present their views. After all, that is what nearly of the Left truly believes. Say it with me, Horde. Unpeople of Jesusland.

The best we can   hope for is that  Democrats will  lose a bunch  of seats in the midterm elections because they will suddenly discover a sense of shame over what a morass of shitbaggery their party has become.

I'm  certain  that they will stay home from the polls as a  protest that  they will not stand for the rampant criminality of Obama and  his underlings.  Because winning elections isn't  worth abandoning their principles.  NOT  IN MY NAME,  right?  Hell, we may even see some giant papier-mache puppets hit the street if we just play it cool and   let the Democrats implode.

No, actually I'm not a lawyer (but I play on when it comes to research regulations I guess.  "Quasi-lawyer at a cheaper rate" is how one person once described my field.)

But I googled, and would say "yeah we're past the looking glass on that one."  I know technically congress empowers the various departments (via funding and oversight) but in all reality they're executive branch offices, and they behave as such.

The announcement came at an awkward time, just days after a visit by US Secretary of State John Kerry during which Washington and Moscow agreed to try to bring the warring sides in Syria together for an international peace conference. Another image showed two wigs, apparently found on him, as well as three pairs of glasses, a torch, a mobile phone and a compass. another question, if i drill out the dowels on the bed, table and chair legs and use toothpicks (because i can think of nothing else that small) would regular Wood glue work?and would it suck to paint (which i'm actually good at, even to adding floral etc although i've done nothing that small) does that detract a Lot from its original thing as it does with normal antique furniture?

Posted by: willow at May 14, 2013 09:57 AM (nqBYe)

The easiest way to get into the wood ceilings may be to disassemble then reassemble.  I'd need to see it to be sure.  Re-wiring can be a nightmare.

As to the dowels, toothpicks MAY work, but they'd be made of a different wood and would look different when painted.  (Do you have the original paints or will you need to match what's already there/repaint everything?)  I'd recommend using an airbrush just for even application.  Whether or not it would detract... I'm not sure, I think that's an opinion thing.

171 Really, Boehner, McConnel, and the others might as well kneel and swear fealty now. At least then we'd be sure of whose side they're really on.

President Obama thanks you for your support in furthering his clearly outlined "get people to blame the GOP for his own failures" agenda.

Continue to play your cards right and maybe Morning Joe will let you guest host.

183 Those who think this sort of stuff is a top down policy coming from somewhere in or near the WH, think plausible deniability.

The thugish politicization of federal burrocracies has been initiated and guided via low level infiltration by left wing union thugs and other left wing special interest groups (aka greens) into the inner workings of the federal burrocracies...

Or put into low info lingo, the federal burrocracies have been taken over by werewolves and vampires of one sort or another.  They've either converted, eliminated, or neutralized any non-infected...   Your choice -- convert or die...

187 I heard a jouno comment that when Watergate started heating up, it unleashed a desire in every reporter to become an "investigative journalist". Said it got to where the town dogcatcher was no longer able to use his official vehicle to run personal errands without some crazed muckraking reporter trying to make his bones on the "scandal". This commentator (sorry didn't catch the name) says he is now seeing that same impulse unleashed--even in Obama's pet media. There's also a pretty strong chance that O and his Flying Monkeys in the media are airing all this now in the hopes the LIVs will have moved on by Nov. of 2014.

==========
How many stories have there been about people from the WH calling up and cursing at reporters?

I've lost count of the "reporters locked out of sight" stories--closets, rope barricades, etc.

What was that deal about the reporter for some minor service getting drummed out of the WH Press Corps by a leftie campaign "right wing extremist!"?

190 The media's goal is to get another Dem president after Obama, Obama reputation is now disposable (they know the GOP would never impeach, and even if they did it would still be a Dem (Biden) as Prez.) None of the scandals the MSM is suddenly interested in covering affect Hillary. The other scandals serve to push Benghazi, which could affect her run for President, off the front page. Sorry to be so cynical, but I really think that's what's going on here. I can't believe the MSM has suddenly developed a concern about their reputation for fairness.

214 Hey, lets not miss the point here and put all the blame for all of this on 3 people, Obama, Hillary and Eric.   They needed help from a government.  Hitler didn't kill 8 million jews.  He need help from a government.  Asad is not killing Syrians.  He needed help from his government.  The State Department helped Hillary rewrite the talking points, someone in the IRS went after conservative groups and someone in the DOJ went after the AP.  So we can impeach and convict but that will not fix the whole problem.  The problem is Big Government and the people who know how to use the Big Government power.  It is a 2 headed beast.  Cut off one head and it will grow another.  It is not a one time fix.  Both heads need to be periodically cut off.

217 This is along the line of what I was wondering about. If the IRS has an enemies list and a program to deal with them there must be a friends list with associated benefit to be provided. The friends program will be a little harder to discover, the recipient groups will not be self reporting. Someone inside would be required to reveal the program to someone who would not bury it.
