— Open Blogger Dude found this during testing.
The HTML5 Web Storage standard was developed to allow sites to store larger amounts of data (like 5-10 MB) than was previously allowed by cookies (like 4KB). localStorage is awesome because itÂ’s supported in all modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox 3.5+, Safari 4+, IE 8+, etc.).The standard anticipated that sites might abuse this feature and advised that browsers limit the total amount of storage space that each origin could use...
...However, Chrome, Safari, and IE currently do not implement any such “affiliated site” storage limit. Thus, cleverly coded websites, like FillDisk.com, have effectively unlimited storage space on visitor’s computers.

who here has ever encountered quicksand in real life?
is it like on TV?
Posted by: soothsayer at March 01, 2013 06:56 PM (LVtr+)
Well, I'm here to tell about it, so no. Late December, I was on vacation in Nicaragua, walking on the beach at a place called Casares. A little creek flows into the Pacific there. I wanted to wade across the creek, so I thought I'd sit on a nearby large rock to take off my shoes and socks. Put a foot on seemingly-firm sand next to the rock, and whoaaa! it went in ankle deep. Got out of there real quick. Must have been an upwelling current of water adjacent to the rock. Sand in the streambed itself was solid.
Last Fall, walking down a seismic line here in Alberta, took a step on seemingly-firm, leaf-littered ground, and both legs went into muck up to my hip pockets. I threw my upper body onto a tussock of grass, and managed to haul myself out. That one was scary, but it was a peat bog, not classic quicksand.
