Breitbart Was Right About Pigford
— Ace

Andrew Klavan explains the background, and why Andrew Breitbart became interested in the case.

Barack Obama and his administration facilitated a multi-billion dollar fraud to funnel taxpayer money to any African-American willing to rip off the public till. The complex scandal known as Pigford began with a reasonable claim by a few black farmers that they’d been treated wrongly by a racist government — but exploded, with Obama’s help, into a shameless dole out to any minority huckster who happened along. It took them a while to get there, but kudos to the Times for doing the job.

The reason the Pigford scandal touched Andrew so deeply was that he believed it was behind the Shirley Sherrod firing — for which he was wrongly blamed.....

Andrew showed that a company formed by Sherrod and her husband received a huge Pigford pay-off of some $13-million. He believed that that’s why she was fired so fast — and why he was vilified so cruelly: to keep journalists from asking too many questions and uncovering the Pigford scandal, the iceberg beneath the Sherrod tip.

Well, he's been vindicated. Breitbart.com is doing a victory lap about the New York Times reporting on A1 what Breitbart.com's been reporting for two years.*

The cost of the settlements, which could exceed $4.4 billion, is the result of a process that "became a runaway train, driven by racial politics, pressure from influential members of Congress and law firms that stand to gain more than $130 million in fees," the Times notes.

Among those influential members of Congress was then-Senator Barack Obama, who made Pigford payouts a priority in exchange for political support for his 2008 presidential campaign among a coveted group of black voters in the rural South, the Times reports.

As president, Obama continued to support payouts for new groups of claimants while abandoning a review process that had been used to fight fraud. The aim was "buying the support" of minorities, according to the Times, while middlemen created a "cottage industry" in defrauding the government.

* I put off reporting this because I didn't know how to write it-- Andrew's vindicated because the New York Times confesses the story is true? Why should I give the NYT that power to arbitrate what is true or not?

It was just as true yesterday, before the NYT finally reported it.

So I don't want to feed this lunatic idea that the NYT decides what the truth is.

But in this case, it's a leftist outlet making an admission against its interest, as they'd say in court, and therefore having an indicator of credibility.

7 Anyone who didn't know Pigford was a fraud was either completely stupid or a liar and a crook.  And the CBC got the Democrats with the aid of two traitor Republicans to push Pigford II through in the infamous Christmas lame duck session.

We should be prosecuting them now but the person who made the "deal" that allowed Pigford through the courts is the AG.

27 "So I don't want to feed this lunatic idea that the NYT decides what the truth is."

The problem is that the NYT decides what "truth" is in this way, which was clearly evident in the Gosnell case:

If the NYT or the AP doesn't cover it, other journalists (even decent ones on the networks of CNN) don't both to find out if something exists.

Think Gosnell - it wasn't until the Twitter people started bugging ACoop and Tapper about the case that they stopped relying on the sanitized AP reporters and read the actual grand jury report and went, "Holy shit, we need to cover this."

The NYT and WaPo decide truth because other journalists are lazy and only get THEIR news from them.

Journalists covered non news and only now, when it's of minimal political impact, are they reporting the truth about this. The NYT's article is actually pretty solid, but it's amazingly late.

Obama and Holder saw Pigford as a quiet, backdoor reparations. $50k check to any black person willing to lie on a form that, once upon a time in the evil, racist Bill Clinton era, they "intended to farm".

If Ms. Other-name is watching you fold your own tshirts then you can just turn in your fucking man cards, all of them, right the fuck now. Just one of my own hangups I guess, but there it is. Posted by: Prescient11 at April 26, 2013 03:52 PM (tVTLU)" Interesting, but I disagree. There's nothing wrong with a man doing some of the household chores. My wife can't roll t-shirts and socks properly as she didn't have my drill sergeant, so I just do it myself. They stay wrinkle free and take up a lot less space, and can be moved easily. Hyphenated names annoy me a bit, as it's as though someone is trying to make a statement in an inconvenient way that imposes on everyone else (and how do you name your kids?), but if a woman wants to keep her family name, I don't have a problem with that. It's not really any of my business.

The NYT admitting this is like a confession from a killer.  You saw him pull the trigger, you saw the victim fall down.  His DNA is all over the crime scene, and  his fingerprints are on the gun.

Well and good, but when he confesses and says "yeah, I did it," you're not giving him any credit for doing the right thing, you're just... vindicated.

If you believe in collective guilt then there is nothing wrong with punishing one white person for the sins of another -- all that matters is they are white.

108 Forget the naked woman (I know, I know)  WTF!?

A woman living at the home told police that her husband heard a noise, got up and found the doggy door damaged.

Because they donÂ’t have a dog, the couple assumed an animal had gotten in the house, according to the probable cause affidavit. However, they then observed an unknown woman in the bathroom.

And if she fit through a doggy door, there's a slight chance you and another normal-sized woman could use this chick as a...uh "marital aid."

MESA, Ariz. -They were suspected of breaking into homes in Mesa. But it wasn't security cameras or even police officers that led to their capture. It was Mormon missionaries on their way home from their missionary work who stopped the crime.

Fighting crime isn't something most young members of the LDS church ever expect to do while on their mission. But a pair of Mormon missionaries came to the rescue, busting a pair of suspected would-be burglars.

Biggest problem I can see is that she already knows where the guy lives. Thats the first and biggest mistake rookies make with Teh Crazee

183 This is how the Left keeps winning. They either use illegal cash from overseas (Clinton in 96 buried Dole with tons of illegal foreign donations), 'stimulus bills' which are basically payoffs to Dem. constituencies using taxpayer cash, some of which is funneled right back to the Dem politicians behind it..... Or what we have here, a huge vote-buying scheme using taxpayer case right out of the Treasury. For me the biggest reveal in that story is that Attorney Gen. ERIC HOLDER has had 'broad discretion' to settle Pigford cases all by his lonesome and we are just now finding this out after 5 years. Eric Holder: your one-man Treasury cash dispenser at the DOJ! No messy Court or Congress involved, just file a claim and Eric will settle it with little or no paper trail. What an AWESOME idea. If you don't have any ethics or anything to get in the way of actually doing it.

186 OK here is something here where King did an amendment to kill it

Rep. King’s amendment failed – here’s the roll call vote. Every Democrat voted against it – but it lost because 78 Republicans also went against stopping over a billion dollars in money being paid out for fraud. Two votes jumped out at me.

Tea Party favorite Allen West (R-FL) voted with the Congressional Black Caucus to keep Pigford funding flowing to fraudsters.

188 I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a resident of a state where fireworks are legal to use fireworks in that state. So what the fuck does the vendor care where you're from? I'd like to admit I was paying attention to the intricacies of the case. But I can't. Cleavage. And Fox anchor of a highly stimulating nature. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm cutting a 'doggy door' into my back door and estimating the 'rackage' requirement. What's my formula again, rack to waist ratio .8? Yeah, I'm a pig Radish.

Posted by: Prescient11 at April 26, 2013 03:52 PM (tVTLU)

I'm on the other side of this fence. I LOVE my last name: it's short, it has gravitas, it has nice alliteration with my first name. My dad was an only son who had daughters, so the two of us are the last of our family line to have it. I always planned to change my last name when I got married, since that is what ladies do, but the older I get the more I really want to keep it. I hate long hyphenated names tho, so not sure what I will do; depends on the guy I guess. The day where I need to make such a decision is a long ways off.

Not sure if the rules have changed, but the last time I bought fireworks next door in Wisconsin (The Good Stuff is illegal here in MN), vendors would check ID... but only to make sure you're NOT from Wisconsin.

If you were from out of state, they'd sell you pretty much whatever you want, cash and carry.  If you actually lived in Wisconsin you needed a permit to buy The Good Stuff.

Needless to say, there were a LOT of MN plates in the parking lot.

Oddly, that makes sense to me.  Because I expect WI to put things in the law penalizing the vendor.

This whole concept of shopkeepers as LEO perplexes me, but here we are, Kroger needs my driver's license before they'll sell me liqueur for baking cookies.  No, really officer, I'm baking cookies.

@121 Depends why you kept it. *shrug* It's not always some man-hating thing; some women have all their credentials (diplomas, licenses, yadda yadda) are under their original name, and it's a pain in the ass to go back and have them all redone or denoted.

------------------------------

I had a female friend who told me that because she was the oldest child and had no brothers, there was at least a little hoping for by dear old Dad that her first male child would continue the family name.

I'd drifted out of contact with her by the time she got married, though, so I don't know how that worked out.
