The buzz is that he'll step down from the post.
Counter-Buzz: I just checked Hot Air -- someone from Boehner's office says he's not stepping down, and that that story is just made up.
If I had to reconcile the two, and find a way they both could be a little bit true, I'd guess that Boehner still wants to argue for the job, and doesn't want to undermine himself by declaring it a fait accompli. But that he has discussed stepping down as his own personal Plan B.
I don't know that. Just speculatin'.

Although, it will be nice to see a TruCon get in power, just so the usual suspects will finally shut the fuck up about how those nasty centrists are engaging in a conspiracy against the red-state House members, and finally accept responsibility that our country is full of shitwits, we are ruled by shitwits, and the best one can possibly aspire to be is King of the Shitwits.

ItÂ’ll be all party hats and flowers until someone else steps up, takes the job and then realizes that while they may negotiate differently, the outcomes will still be relatively the same.
I donÂ’t like Boehner because he is a terrible negotiator and his PR skills are horrible. But the man has moved many bills through the House on a majority basis.
We need someone to improve the optics and clearly articulate the GOP message at this point. It needs to be someone who can not only cobble together votes but vastly improve the communication.
If you get someone who squeaks through but then further divides the caucus, you will long for Boehner.

That Speaker position.
Ya' know, the one for House of Representatives.
There's a funny thing about that position.
You have to be a member of the House of Representatives.
Ya' know, an actual Congressman/Congresswoman.
Elected by the people of your Congressional District.
Thereby Sarah Palin and Allen West are currently excluded.
I spaced the sentences apart so you won't get confused too quickly.

Or just one that tells the truth.
Spending cuts? Not with baseline budgeting.
Taxes on the 1%? That 1% is a lie, and it will hit the middle class.
Sandy relief? No, you mean funding for corrupt pols, lobbyists, and companies that donate money. It's legal but it's still corruption.
Grow jobs? No, the Federal government grows dependency.
Etc, ad infinitum.

Neither the Democrats nor the media are going to vanish if Boehner goes, my friend. Which means that whoever replaces him is going to have to thread the exact same needles Boehner had to thread. If you think the media's not going to jump for joy at the prospect of reviving the Gingrich vs. Clinton dynamic and grinding our party into a fine powder, you're detached from reality.

Did I not mention a willingness to fall on ones sword being necessary. For instance. The House need do nothing. The whole country would fly apart. (Sulu FLY HER APART THEN!) But it is flying apart anyway. If you got a speaker with some nads (Quite ironically Bachmann would be on that list) who was willing to play that gambit. A true willingness to do nothing and watch it burn. That speaker could do the things that the great orange weepy cannot. Because he won't call an all in bet.

Anyone smart enough to become Speaker of the House is smart enough to know that the Speaker represents his or her party on the national level. If they fail, the party fails. The media figured that out in 1995 and have used that playbook ever since. and do you know what happens when a Speaker "falls on his sword?" He/she gets replaced. And then same shit, different day.

Since when was it impossible to just go over the cliff if we couldn't get a decent deal? Oh that's right weepy would NEVER let that happen. Obama knew Boehner would NEVER let that happen. So there was NEVER any reason to negotiate with Boehner because when it came down to it, he would take any deal put in front of him.
In the end it was Obama negotiating with us. Trying to give Boehner just enough of a deal that he didn't get ousted and replaced with someone who was actually willing to call his bluff.

Ted Nugent for Speaker of the House?
He'd strut up to the podium in a loincloth with his Gibson 335 slung over one shoulder and a quiver of arrows over the other, holding a couple of rifles, one of which he'd fire over his head to get everybody's attention: "Now listen up, you motherfuckers, I run this show now. We work according to the Constitution the way it was written and nothing else. You don't like it? Hold real still for just a second..."

I'm most angry at Boehner for:
-- not making a big thing over rapist David Wu
-- clearing Maxine Waters of her crimes
-- allowing that Fluke fiasco to take place
-- not going after Jon Corzine
-- not helping more with Fast and Furious
-- not helping more to get to the truth about Benghazi
The Democrats, if the situations were reversed, would've used the power of the House and screwed the Republicans into the wall.

OK so now we've gone from. "The speaker CAN'T do it" to "anyone elected WON'T do it" which is a quite different argument than originally made.
I argue there are some that would. You may be correct in that they would never get elected. In the above example I tend to think Bachmann would cowboy up. I think she would either shape it up or burn it down and smile the whole way while doing it. Not that I think she is teh greatest. I just think she isn't risk averse when tackling her core issues.

Well, Boehner did tell the pederast to go fuck himself after everything was done and over with. I just wish he'd have said that DURING the process.

What is this?! Are you trying to suggest someone who is sober, conservative and might actually get some positive stuff done??? Insanity, I say to you, sir. Insanity.

Know who got 100% of the credit for those things?
Hint: It wasn't a member of the party who lost House seats in the '98 mid-term election, and lost both House and Senate seats in 2000.

Actually, the technical definition of a double post is where one posts the IDENTICAL post twice. Your posts are different. Example, your first one begins with "Mo, no. We need a black, gay, Muslim..." and your second begins with "No, no. We need a black, gay, Muslim...", so no prize of 1 year free subscription to ace.mu.nu for you.
Sorry!

...and thus begins the Zombie Apocalypse...
Man, with the Zombie Apocalypse closing following the Leech Apocalypse, do you think we could find a way to make them to feast off each other and thereby save humanity?

Agreed, but we need the tough, mean guy a-hole rather than Newty, the sleazy, compromising, smarmy kind. There's at least 537 of the latter already in Washington DC.

If you look back you'll notice he specified *conservative* not republican. In fact, your examples go to prove his point.

How about Republicans try representing the people that put them in office, ya know, just for a change !
Being a Reagan was a slam dunk win, let's go back to winning politics the demorats couldn't prevail against. Let's give winning a chance AGAIN !
