5 I posted the LATimes Obamacare story to my facebook, and only quoted the line in the dump link.

The comments are mind-blowing.  I'm a racist bigot for pointing out that Californians (who overwhelmingly support this fuck-up festival) are stunned to find out that the money has to come from somewhere, and that they're 'somewhere.'

Who did they EXPECT was going to pay for it?

Drudge has a link to a Weekly Standard story with this title:

Florida Woman's Insurance Rate Increases 10X Under Obamacare - From $54/month to $591/month

The woman is quoted as saying: "What I have right now is what I'm happy with, and I just want to know why I can't keep what I have... Why do I have to be forced into something else?"

Two things:

1) According to Amanda Marcotte's litmus test, this woman is lying. Everyone who says their premiumsare going up is lying. Everyone's lying and it's all the fault of Faux News.

And

2) The dark, nihilistic part of my soul wants to know who this woman voted for in 2008 and 2012. Let's say my sympathy will only apply if the answer is "NOT Barack Obama."

17 I posted earlier about a good article by John Fund (link in my nic), but the comments at that article is what was most impressive. People are becoming aware, and just as a broken dyke begins with a small hole, I think Obamacare will be the proverbial straw. how is that for a mixed metaphor? People are wondering about what they have been lied to about, and how unaware Obama is.

Funny thing is, depending on how you define these things, most of us are "rich."

Think about it, how long has history defined wealth by the ability to NEVER worry about where one's next meal is coming from?  Where one will lay their head each night?  We have cell phones, cars, cable tv and all the rest.  We have, many of us, land we purchased.

We're rich.

Defining it by the amount of annual income is a silly way to  do it, really.

So who is going  to pay for poor people getting their healthcare?  We are, the rich.  We  always have.  Only now, the doctors and hospitals will have  the full force  of the federal government on our behinds to make sure  we pay.

Posted by: Brandon In Baton Rouge at October 28, 2013 10:17 AM (/Crba) I think you may need to read that particular section again. Prior to the angels going to that city, G*d sat down with Abraham and told him that the sins of that city cried out to him and he was going to destroy it. At that point, Abraham began bargaining with G*d, asking him to save the city if first 50, then 45, on down to 10. In the end, not even 10 righteous people could be found, and G*d's decision was final. He sent the angels to Lot, Abraham's cousin, to spare him and his family, and even then, only Lot and his daughters were spared, and they still turned out to be pretty sinful creatures. (Like all of us, though.) Genesis 18:16-19:36.

Did anyone watch the 60 Minutes story on Benghazi?   I didn't, because fuck them.   But I'd be interested to know if they in any way, shape or form laid any of the blame at the feet of Madame Cankles.   I suspect the answer is no.

88 So, not only is she clueless about the consequences of something she supported, she also makes the usual assumption that 'health insurance', and 'health care' are the same thing. They do that shit on purpose. They started doing that during the Hillarycare debacle in '93-'94 because the planned steppingstone at the time was HMOs where the provider and insurer is the same entity.

My understaning was that the sin of Sodom was not so much sodomy as inhospitality; the men of Sodom, asking to "know" the angels visiting Lot, were ordering him to turn over guests who were under his protection, which is why Lot offered his daughters instead.  Still, nobody comes off well in the event.

It would be interesting to know if they plan to go any farther with this, or was this just an obligatory story run to silence the rightwing nutcases like us that think it was all swept under the rug? I think it's more a case of CBS wanting to "thoroughly    cover"     the story    now,  two years out from any meaningful    Presidential campaign    coverage,    so that      when they invariably go easy on Cankles they can point to this story and say,  "See?  We covered Benghazi.  You can't say we didn't,   because we did.  And we did it two/three years ago, so you can't say we did it deliberately to help Hillary!"

132 I shouldn't be surprised anymore, but the latest debacle with this data center outage did surprise me. So, apparently, both the federal Healthcare.gov site itself and the privacy-shredding "data hub" backend (upon which all the state sites depend) are hosted in the same Verizon data center? And, compounding the stupidity, there is no independent failover setup to cover the possibility of downtime? Good Lord.
