Change of Pace: Left Confesses Its Psychological Problem
— Ace

Leftism is not a politics; it is a psychology. A psychology of resentment, which is then transitioned (like your insurance plan) into a vague politics of opposition against society, which, being sufficiently large, powerful, and vague, can stand in for one's personal anger against God.

So here they're pretty much admitting that they are driven by feelings of inadequacy and anger about their inadequacies.

anderson-flyer.jpg

Yes, Success is the Evil that must be be overcome, for the Success of one man makes another man feel poorer about himself.

It seems like whenever a minority identifying individual “succeeds”, he or she is identified as a “success story.” We will be featuring successful members of different minorities speaking of their own story and success, with a focus on how this idea of “success story” shouldn’t exist. The idea that minority success is “outstanding” means it’s not the norm–we don’t want “success stories.” We just want stories.

Now that we're talking about what the problem really is and always has been, now maybe we can actually discuss it fruitfully.

Thanks to @benk84.

Because the end game I see is that we give the media an easy way to improve ObamaÂ’s favorability ratings with no chance of the Senate voting to convict.

Leftism is all about feelings.   Mostly it is about feelings of personal inadequacy.    Feelings of resentment toward people who are adequate and self-sufficient.

Leftists have to join hands and sing Kum-bayah.   Leftists need help building their self-esteem, go figure.

They hate tradition because they know deep down that they are not worthy of the traditions they were gifted.  They hate the skin they were born with.  They often hate the genitalia they were born with.  They hate their parents.

They rage against their impotence.  They hold hands and spread the blame for their incompetence onto the community.  When they say, "you didn't build that." what they really mean is "you can't blame me for not building any  damn  thing."

Deep down they know that they didn't earn the trophy they received for showing up at soccer, so they throw it away and say they didn't want the trophy in the first place.     When the truth is pointed out to them, they cover their ears and yell, "Lalalalalala, I'm NOT listening" in order to avoid the headache caused by their own cognitive dissonance.

Leftists are not right in the head.

68 No, sorry, this is indefensible as anything other than naked equality-of-outcome leveling.

They state quite clearly they want to eliminate the very concept of the "success story".

This comes from an ideology which has no concept of any interpersonal exchange which can benefit both sides of the exchange--every interaction between two people must always have A Winner and A Loser, and therefore to celebrate success is in this ideology automatically to also celebrate failure.

Truly wretched and indefensible nihilism.

The text book offered that if you use real world signs, newspapers or magazines as reading instruction in understanding English, that you not use those items that portray people in the articles/stories as too affluent or 'lucky in life' or to that effect. 91 I have always considered myself a liberal. I have liberal values. I believe that we should help the poor and take care of those who can't take care of themselves. I used to think that the right way to help the needy was to tax the rich and give that to the poor. The poor, I thought, can't help themselves; they need someone to help them. And so I thought that government could help them.

I still want to help the poor; my values haven't changed. What has changed are my methods. A friend of mine, who is a democrat, told me once that only rich people vote republican. Suppose we grant the premise. How then can the republicans get more votes? Seems to me have they need more rich people. So why would republicans want fewer rich people if those are the very people they need for voters? I didn't like Reagan when he was elected. But as his message was always positive I listened to it. He said "a rising tide lifts all boats". If this is true, then the way to help the poor person is to help the economy as a whole. It's not, rich getting richer and poor getting poorer, but rather everyone gets rich...or at least richer. Then, if we can pass our wealth on to our children, the cycle can continue.

What's wrong with charities taking care of the poor? The democrats would say "oh they won't do enough". But we know that is false. The problem for democrats is that charitable donations don't pass through their hands. The primary value of democratic government is more power for democratic government. How does that help the poor? They have had power for most of the twentieth century and their programs don't help the poor at all if the research can be believed. What helps a poor man is a job. Lets teach the men and women to fish. Then they can be successful.

This ain't 1938 Nazi Germany.  We have a semblance of balance.  Natural selection and the inherent human desire to be free and wild is going to win the day.

If this is true, then the way to help the poor person is to help the economy as a whole. It's not, rich getting richer and poor getting poorer, but rather everyone gets rich...or at least richer. Then, if we can pass our wealth on to our children, the cycle can continue. Imagine that. A happy, positive message wins more hearts and minds than constant anger. Who knew?

109 I suppose if obama declared himself president for life tomorrow, we couldn't do anything about it because of the media and our lack of majority in the senate? If Obama declared himself president for life, then the result of impeachment would be a successful conviction. However, Obama has not yet declared himself president for life. And the media is aching for the opportunity to portray him as the underdog beset by something other than his own incompetence. Impeachment will give them that opportunity, and it will be successful. What good do you see coming as the result of an impeachment trial now?

110 I recall a sci fi story (alas, but not the author or name of the piece) about a normalized society. Stronger and faster individuals had to wear weights that slowed them down, smarter people had sonic blasts delivered to their ears to break their concentration, and so on.

A similar system exists already in horse racing. Weights are added to the horse to normalize the jockey weights and the horse's previous performances.

The same way a bunch of men many years ago dared to stand against  a tyrant and put their names on a document declaring that enough was enough.   I'm sure there were many others then who also thought of their stand as being an excerise in futility.  For  anyone who can't admit that we have a tyrant in office right now, no argument is good enough for them.

181 163 True Not Success Stories (brought to you by SGA)
So, I slept in math class a lot because fuck it, who needs math? After I graduated high school with a 1.8 GPA, I got married and promptly put on 50lbs. Why stay in shape for the same old piece of ass every night? That's what I say.
Besides, she'll only do it missionary anymore. I don't even bother taking off my shirt or socks anymore when we do it.
Anyway, my dad got me a city job. I'm supposed to clear brush and stuff from the county roads. Mostly we play cards back in the garage, though. It's good pay and my pension is pretty sweet. I also have two kids. I don't like them all that much.
Anyway, that's my story.

Posted by: Warden at October 29, 2013 08:17 PM (HzhBE)

Well, shit, since we're sharing:

My family was so poor we ate ox tail soup with cabbage 5 nights a week (no, not kidding).  We had 0.  Nada.  Nothing.  Dad had his first heart attack at 43, neither parent graduated from HS.  Completely unemployable.  Both vets, though, but only 4 years each.

When I hit 18 I wasn't thrown out, my parents left town.  No shit.  I came home and the house was empty with a note that said (paraphrasing)  "good luck, fucker!"  I'm not making this up.

3 Associates degrees 1 BS in Physics, 1 MS in engineering, 13 years in the military as an NCO later, I get a job making $105K/yr.

No silver spoon here.  I earned and paid for everything every step of the way.  As an E-3, married with a kid I qualified for food stamps but refused to take them.  When the wife bought shit through WIC I'd wear her out.  We hold our ground and we don't need any goddam help doing it.

I'm going to give this one really fucking big rant at the end - and then I'll let it be.

So yeah - I had a tooth blow up today - and several other teeth with cavities of various degrees.

Does the Gub'Mint owe me Tooth Care ?  FUCK NO !!!

But here's what happens when you give a shit where your money goes.  They gave me my initial exam - and told me it would cost "X" for the initial set of X-RAYS.  I agreed.  Then they showed me the damage.  Then - and I shit you not - they ran my insurance card against the estimate AND GAVE ME AN OUT OF POCKET QUOTE DOWN TO THE PENNY.  IN WRITING.  They ran it twice - because I spotted an error in the first estimate.  And they did it nicely.

And I actually thought to myself - as I was listening to that damned drill sending my tooth dust into the sky - what the fuck will I do if ToothCare is ever deemed a human right.

Now I need to leave.  I don't want to get so worked up that my blood pressure launches this crown through my crown.

I went to college, fucked off a bit, got arrested once, picked up a case of the crabs, then settled down then got a degree in social work.

Couldn't find much out there. The pay sucks. Fucking Republicans don't want to help the poor or pay the people who are trying to help.

So, yeah, I've been at this coffee shop for 6 years, part time. I play in a band, too. We've cut three albums but can't get signed because of assholes like Simon Cowell marketing stupid music to all the stupid people out there.

The pay at this Starbucks is shit. Free coffee, though. I drink a fuck-ton of it. I also get to spit in the drink of anyone who looks like a Rethuglicon, so that's cool. Once I blew a booger into a scone when a cop ordered one. Life can be pretty awesome sometimes.

Oh, and I bought a new skateboard.

That's kind of the way I was brought up and how I am. I was 13 in 1970.

This attitude is hard to find today among the millenials, gen Y's

Food stamps are 'OK' and you can collect unemployment then lay about and play with your top of the line iPhone.

The young people that don't subscribe to this attitude that I've been in contact with seem to be the kids raised on a farm or ranch, who had to WORK growing up.

I have come to accept that it is better to have a smaller, harder GOP to fight this mess, because the "Moderate GOP" had a bobseld course(in theory) from 2001-2007 and we allowed the left to dominate the schools, we also did not attack their ethical lapses in any organized manner WRT the media.

You cannot be 82.75% for free markets at this juncture with the "tactics" the left is using with EPA and the NLRB and not in fact be in favor of finishing off the golden goose.

Too kind.  I didn't do anything special.  Just didn't like where I was at so made it a point to improve things.  I'm not very smart (shhh, don't tell the dept chair).  I just relate the story because we (me and the wife--she came from similar circumstances... and has a PhD! the bitch!) came from dirt poor.

We're not the 1%.  At one point we were raking in over $350K/yr (and holy crab snot did we squirrel away all of that like we were living under a bridge!).

We came from abject poverty.  Didn't like it.  Changed it.  Was it tough?  damn right it was.  But when my MS was handed to me I teared up.  Never thought I'd get a BS let alone an MS.

When I was in London, I could spot a fellow Yank in a crowded pub before I ever heard them speak - just going by their choppers. Straight teeth and Ultrabright smile? Definitely an American. Even slightly crooked, not-so-white but clearly well cared for teeth - American. Handsome man or pretty woman with a mouthful of mess- almost surely a Brit, or maybe a visitor from the Continent.

Well, it's unfair that our teeth are so much better than everyone else's. We make the Brits feel bad everytime they stand next to us and say "cheese" at the camera.

When Tooth Care is deemed a human right, the government will take care of our unfair advantage in the dental department.

a vague politics of opposition against society, which, being sufficiently large, powerful, and vague, can stand in for one's personal anger against God.

Not against God. Against Dad. Modern leftists are much too childish to truly understand a deep, existential anger against God, and the profound evil that often results.
