DHHS claims there are legends of myths of people who have been able to sign up successfully. And yet no one seems to be able to locate such persons.
Three and a half years.
The Party of Government and Bureaucracy also fails at Government and Bureaucracy.
Noah C. Rothman wonders if the disastrous roll-out of ObamaCare will wind up saving the GOP from backlash for the shutdown.
Republicans have done a rather spectacular job of mismanaging the communications effort over this shutdown. The GOP appeared to hope that by refusing to prosecute the conflict they started, it would simply resolve itself. Indeed, reports indicate that the GOP in Congress has spent more time attempting to position their particular faction as bearing the least responsibility for the shutdown than seeking an advantageous position in negotiations with Congressional Democrats and the president. But events might just be conspiring to redeem the GOP in the eyes of voters. This shutdown will be inextricably linked to the roll-out of the ACA. And, if ObamcareÂ’s public debut does not improve, voters may look back on the shutdown as being partially justified.
Which might be while Peter King, the laughable leader of the Clean CR Caucus, now says he actually won't support Nancy Pelosi in her attempt to file a discharge petition to end the shutdown.
Oh My God: I see commenters talking about "waiting rooms." I don't know what they mean, and they're all so cryptic. So I look it up.
Oh dear Lord, even the website is going to have long lines for waiting.
This is a cosmic joke. This is a cosmic joke.

I work in the SW Quality Assurance and one of the most basic system tests is for volume. I'd love to read the SW implementers test plan... Err.... max volume = 2 users? Test for 3 end users?
And, testing outside of limits is sorta important too. You know, so the end user doesnt experience sys crashes?

Ignoring the political flaw of an authoritarian government dictating to us.....The only way this could possibly work is if the feds broke down all interstate barriers and allowed a free flow of insurance money.
But that embraces capitalism, and we can't have that.

They still haven't told the LIVs about the deductibles. Wait until that shit hits the fan.
Once these healthcare systems actually start working, (The feds are taking theirs down again tonight for some more fixing), they'll get an idea just how fucked they are. 12+ k per year deductibles, with coverage that only pays sixty percent, and at only three times the price of their dropped/cancelled policies.
We're going to need a bigger popcorn popper.

Further, although I am not a tech guy, I would imagine that the problem lies in the entire infrastructure of the program, i.e., there is not a simple, single roadblock in the intertubes process. There are so many such that it essentially must be started over from scratch. Otherwise, it would have been fixed by now. Just guessing.

I think it is funny they were blaming volume. Think about, as someone mentioned, Ebay. They have zillions of interactions everyday withlisting and buying and selling and paying and shipping and yet it works with that volume.
Let this be a reminder that the healthcare website will reflect exactly the kind of health care you will get.

Heather Howard, director of the State Health Reform Assistance Network, which is providing technical assistance to 11 state exchanges. "This was a massive undertaking."
Comparisons to the error-ridden launch of the Medicare Part D website launch in January 2006 can only go so far, says Howard, who was New Jersey's commissioner of health at the time. Back then, consumers had already enrolled in the plan and website issues sometimes kept them from getting their medications.
That's a far bigger deal than causing people to delay signing up for something they have three to six months to complete, depending on when they want coverage to start. After all, she says, it's not like shoe shopping: "They're not going to go somewhere else."

Does anyone know how the government calculates the
Price isn't exactly the correct word because you are not buying a product from the government. You are paying a fee (tax) to the government to get a service the government requires a third party to provide. The government gives a portion of that fee to yet another party to administer something something payment to the party providing the service as directed by the government. That is, the service provided and how it will be provided is regulated by the government, and the party paying the provider for the service something something does so under strict government regulations
hhmmm, I think I see a problem here.
but the question is does everyone pay the same 'premium' for the same level of coverage, or is that 'premium' determined by ones ability to pay a higher 'premium'? .

Among the technical problems thwarting consumers, according to some of those people, is the system to confirm the identities of enrollees. Troubles in the system are causing crashes as users try to create accounts, the first step before they can apply for coverage.
Experian PLC, an information-services firm, holds a federal subcontract to support that system. The company declined to comment.

Not to mention that anyone working has to try during the evening hours, before they shut down the system overnight for maintenance.
Also there's this, "About 30 million uninsured people live in the states the federal marketplace will serve." So that's the number of peas trying to fit through that narrow straw. And that doesn't count the millions of people with insurance looking to see if the exchange can offer a better deal.

He may not have dirtied his hands with the details, but I recall a year plus campaign led by Obama, crisscrossing the country holding rallies and spewing random lies, such as "If you like your healthcare, you can keep it!" and stuff about greedy doctors overcharging for tonsillectomies. Seems he made a lot of TV appearancies - speeches and interviews - pitching for this colossal failure. Oh, and OFA was shilling "I [heart] Obamacare" swag, too.

-------------
What I think would be awesome - and what I'm convinced they'd never allow - is to have Olberman and Rush do a game together. It'd probably do wonders for the ratings as well. Even if both of them managed to avoid doing anything outrageous on the air, tons of people would tune in to watch just in case something did happen.

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — Worries about injuries at a Long Island school have led to a surprising ban.
As CBS 2Â’s Jennifer McLogan reported Monday, officials at Weber Middle School in Port Washington are worried that students are getting hurt during recess. Thus, they have instituted a ban on footballs, baseballs, lacrosse balls, or anything that might hurt someone on school grounds.

-----------------
I played. But it was *NOT* bug free. Lag in particular was so bad that I could kill a mob, open its corpse to loot it, and get stuck there (what I referred to as "loot lag") unable to leave. The mob would then respawn several minutes later while I was *still* stuck attempting to loot the corpse, and kill me (since I was unable to fight back).

Nope. I got it all the time. The difference is that you probably ended up on one of the servers where it wasn't a serious issue. Different servers got hit by it to varying degrees, and by whatever mischance, I ended up on one of the servers where it was literally crippling.
I also used to start dancing whenever lag hit while casting a spell. I'd get 30 seconds to a minute of dancing with glowing hands before the effect finally went off (or cancelled - can't remember which).

They need to do 2,500,000 a week. Or, as you say 357,000+ per day.

Those here thinking these current technical problems will be a lasting wound to the abomination of the ACA, I think, are not being very serious. There are footprints on the moon. This sort of system can - and will - be made to work. At least to some level. And is there is no real press in the country, even a significant level of enduring suckage will be hidden, pooh-poohed, or distorted.
In any case, the significance of "taking back the Senate" relies - almostentirely - on what, exactly the then-GOP Senate would actually DO. And the broader dumbing-down of the populace, and the public square, the systematic distortion of facts and frameworks, will have to be attacked with result, or any gains made in legislation will be short-lived.
For this disaster to be a learning experience, in the end, there needs to be a public that knows why it was a disaster, not just that it WAS a disaster.
