— Ace For some definitions of "work."
Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) led the way with four bills introduced....
But McCarthy wasnÂ’t alone. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL), apparently ignoring the fact that his heavily gun-controlled home city of Chicago is the nationÂ’s leader in murder with guns, introduced legislation that would create more stringent licensing for gunowners. So did Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ).
And Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) proposed a bill that would prevent anyone under age 21 from carrying a handgun – even though people of 18 can vote and serve in the military.
But wait – there’s more! Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) pushed forward a bill requiring background checks on all gun sales, which would essentially prevent non-gun-shop transfers of weapons.

Moran's bill probably specifically disallows women owning guns. That would give them an unfair advantage, when, you know, you want to plow their heads into a garbage can or something.

People who believe in this type of gun control always tell us that our government is benelovent and would never hurt us, so we don't need the guns.
Many of these same people believe the government conceived, planned, or executed 9/11/2001. Go figure.

A private sale is NOT an exemption from due diligence.
An easy "fix" would be to simply have private sales require a signed 4473 the seller would retain. It forces the buyer to answer all the questions and protects the seller if the buyer lies.

I cannot imagine even trying to bag dinner with the Mossberg.
The 870 has provided me with excellent meals for 35 years, though.
And I can hip-shoot it if I need to, but mostly I like to stay on target.

I'm serious about boxing gloves btw. while I'm no lawyer, CA penal code definitions look so sloppy that pretty much anything would be "composite knuckles". I don't know how to find all the references or exemptions, but I expect lawmakers to be as lazy as possible.
16405.
As used in this part, “composite knuckles” means any device or instrument made wholly or partially of composite materials, other than a medically prescribed prosthetic, that is not metal knuckles, that is worn for purposes of offense or defense in or on the hand, and that either protects the wearer’s hand while striking a blow or increases the force of impact from the blow or injury to the individual receiving the blow.

You'd think that folks who like to describe themselves as "liberals" wouldn't want to ban so much stuff and curtail so many liberties. It makes me think that either they don't understand the meaning of the word or they're a bunch of fucking liars. Maybe both!
Yeah, I know. That's some pretty heavy stuff for a site like this, but i think you guys can handle it.

I'm glad to hear O'Dell is on our side. I've always been leery of her, seems like a bit of an eco-nut. She first ran for the job in 2010 and lost the primary to Vinnie Liebel, who was being prosecuted for corruption charges at the time. Went Liebel was convicted and went to prison shortly after becoming County Exec, O'Dell won the special election to replace him. For the record, I voted for Liebel over her, but I'm glad to see her stand up to the gun grabbers, maybe I'll vote for her in the primary next year.

To close "the gun show loophole" in CO you can get a background check and then buy a gun from a private seller. But I agree that the bill is yet one more hobble on our freedoms. Its already illegal to make a strawman gun purchase and re-sell to someone who can't pass a background check. Didn't stop that creep in NY from getting a gun.

They really should take these proposals send them thru the committes where they are amended to be the exact opposite of what the dems want them to be and make the dems vote against their own gun control bills.
But that would take cunning and wile.

For instance, why not amend the Sandy bills requiring shall issue to all states and municipalities tied to government grants and other largesse they receive? Just about all the major states which have a stake in the Hurricane Sandy relief appear to be only May Issue. Make relief dependent on state law being Shall Issue, which is sensible preparation as a precaution in emergency planning for such catastrophes as Hurricanes and their aftermath. Are Democrats support ensuring the safety of the public during catastrophes, or not?
Maybe some portion of the Sandy funding should be dedicated to municipality funding education programs in firearm education, training and responsible possession and use in, um, cities. Are the Dems against education for those hardest hit by disasters, the urban poor and people of color?
IOW, start stealing their catch phrases, make them vote against their cherished expansion of government, and make them out to be the ones always saying no and holding up legislation or the ones who won't 'do something!'

IÂ’d like to know why we canÂ’t get a clear answer to the simple question of whether the Bushmaster was in the trunk of the car or was used in the shootings? Seems to me that this is a salient question, particularly if the answer is that it was in the trunk. If it was in the trunk then it is ludicrous to even be discussing an assault rifle ban.
A good side issue here is that with the media politicizing everything, getting answers to basic questions like the one above are next to impossible. And if thatÂ’s the case then what the hell is the point of discussing anything whatsoever. Just implement tyranny and be done with it.

Someone should let most of the gun stores know - the chains like Turner's do a brisk business in pistol grip shotguns with no stocks.

Maybe this is common knowledge here, maybe not, but you might want to see if you can find the book, Unintended Consequences by John Ross. It's sorta a gun-nut cult book, but well worth the read. Ross weaves a historical novel about the history of our gun laws, and where these laws will take us. It is not a pretty picture, but unfortunately, quite accurate.
I bought my copy at a gun show years ago and I think I spent $30 or so. Today, Amazon has copies for $350 new/$138 used and I've seen them go for as much as $500 new. Yes: Many are panic-buying anything and everything related to guns (Cheaper-than-Dirt is selling AR magazines for $100 a pop. Used.) and some are even panic-buying books about guns.
