— Ace Knockin' off.
I did this quickie post on Breitbart about which Nerds outrank each other.
You may find it supple and seductive.
No not really. Just thought that would be funny to say.

Linux/Unix - all things are possible, nothing is easy.
Windows - most things are easy, some things are impossible.
OS/2 - security through obscurity

I think a better order would be to rank the pecking order by usefulness / social acceptability. Maybe a graph with usefulness/acceptability on the X axis and real-life achievements on the Y axis. For example, I'd place a science fiction nerd higher than a comic book nerd, except if the comic book nerd has a job and a wife and kids and the science fiction nerd still lives with his parents.

Okay I don't even know what cosplay is--but I am pretty sure I don't want to know.
All you need to know is that the cuter the girl and the skimpier the costume, the more likely that she's underage.

(in fact, if you dress up in cardboard armor and hit other SGA fags with a foam sword, you should probably be sterilized. If you apply fake blood, you should be killed).
Actually, the SCA folks put on real armor and hit each other with wooden sticks. Hard. Then they drink excessively and go wild. There's a reason its jokingly called the Society of Consenting Adults and the Sword Carrying Alcoholics.

Nerds act like Star Wars invented the modern movie experience as we know it, but they're wrong.

The Beatles were certainly the most popular thing among teenagers when they first came out, drawing the ire of most people.

I was never into that, but one roommate I had was. I mean deeeeeep into it, like a professional poker player. Once, for shits and giggles, he created a forged card of his own design that had all sorts of incredible powers and abilities. Playing it basically meant he won the game at that instant. It was undefeatable. He spent serious money to craft this card and it looked identical to a real card issued by the game company.
He took it to a gaming event and played it against some Simpsons comic-book guy looking character. The guy looked at it for several seconds, then suddenly explodes and flips the entire gaming table up in a fit of rage, yelling "fucking bullshit motherfucker sonabitch blahblahblah". He completely lost his shit. My friend was on the floor laughing his ass off. After the other guy calmed down, he offered my friend money to buy the card from him. My friend said no, but the other guy kept pressing him offering more and more money until the sum reached a mortgage payment.
It was the funniest/shocking/depressing thing I've seen.

It was my good fortune that a friend was occupying a position as scientist with another school. He hired me in to ride herd on some sophisticated research equipment. Thus, I mixed with chemists mostly, but physicists off-and-on. They were truly maladjusted folk. Nice, harmless..., but just awkward.

I played 1.0 right before it shut down, and I've been playing the beta. It's probably a good thing that there's an NDA in place, or I'd spend entirely too much time gushing about how much better the game looks and plays now, and go into excruciating detail about all of the improvements.

You can't be serious with that.
The stuff they were doing on "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver" was so far advanced from every other piece of music at the time, from the songwriting to the production, that it broke all the rules.
Before that, they were (incredibly gifted) teenyboppers, just like the Dave Clark 5 and Gerry and the Pacemakers. After that, there was no one in the same stratosphere except the Beach Boys (who also started out as a boy band).
"Sgt. Pepper" broke all the rules of recording after that.

There was only one way in, and the only defensible position they had was beyond the sight of the minefield. They had to do it that way.
The minefield was moved by the defenders from the base to a canyon the Jem'Hadar had to come through. It could easily have been placed outside the base perimeter but still within range of Starfleet weapons. Of course, if the canyon was such a choke point, why the hell didn't Sisko assume a defensive position there?

Years ago, a computer game company called Red Storm Entertainment made a game called Rainbow Six that was based on the book by Tom Clancy. RSE was in fact, Tom Clancy's company. It was the first game to simulate a real-world counter-terrorist environment where getting hit only once would kill you. None of this power-up and auto healing bullshit. You get hit in the head or torso, you are dead.
When their next game was released (Rogue Spear), I read on their game forum that the developers would be present at a nearby mall to see their work on the shelves. I made it a point to go there and meet them, buy the game, and have them autograph it. I still have it. I wonder if it's worth anything.

Granted, after rewatching the show on TV these days I don't find it to be anywhere near as funny as I did 20 years ago, but that's the only series (aside from the Pinky and the Brain spinoff) that I ever cataloged in detail. Watched a bunch of Star Trek: TNG and MST3K, knew enough trivia to get every question right on the preshow slideshow at last night's Best of Both Worlds theatrical event, but never got around to recording them systematically.

To be fair, I think a lot of people remember McCartney in that way, with the older fans remembering The Beatles, the middle fans remembering Wings, and the youngest fans tweeting during the Grammys, "Who the f is this old honky closing out the Grammys instead of Rihanna?"
Sadly, yes, I did see tweets of that nature last year.
Anyway, George and Ringo had one album people liked before they went into the obscurity they so richly deserved, and John was made a saint, and then a martyr, by the babykillers despite the fact that all of his post-Beatle music sucked as much as he did as person.

What? Wasn't that clever of them to save money by putting grunts into cockpits? Why, they could fly around in dogfights, then land and start shooting them up on the ground!
Full of Win!!!

I hated what Ron Moore did to that show. I could sum up the entire run of the series into one sentence:
It was a four and a half year long sermon.

They fucked themselves when they made the "final five". All that bullshit about finding earth was cast aside and everything became finding out who they were.

My only rationalization for that is that the Earth military was so badly mauled early in the war that they were running on skeleton crews for much of the first season.

No, they had plenty of troops (all those carriers). I just thought it was incredibly wasteful to train pilots and then have them spend most of their time as infantry.
Besides, they had the in-vitros too, though they were semi-reliable. Col McQueen did not have that issue. He was a badassmotherfucker.

They were innocent. Aerotech, the company behind the off-world colonizations, knew the planet was inside Chig territory and one of their worlds but they didn't warn the colonists or anyone else of this fact. They pretty much started the war.

George's first one and Cloud Nine were popular. I prefer Ringo's mediocre (at best) solo work over Lennon's which was as shitty as Yoko's face.
