51 Posted by: Misanthropic humanitarian at May 05, 2013 07:09 PM (HVff2) Well, it was 3 in the morning in Tucamcari New Mexico; vaseline and tweezers were rather thin on the ground. All my uncle had was a pair of nnp, and nnp were what he used. My cousin, who whined about everything non stop all the time, had been whining about something in her ear ever since we'd left North Carolina. He had finally had enough and pulled over to "give her something to whine about"; being the fair man that he was, he did look in her ear, and much to all our surprise, was a big ol' tick. 54 The state medical examiner ruled that Tsarnaev died from gunshot wounds and blunt trauma to his head and torso, and authorities have said his brother ran him over in a chaotic getaway attempt. Stefan said Sunday that the family won't request that an independent medical examiner perform a second autopsy, but representatives from the family's legal team might photograph Tsarnaev's body before it's washed. So, these douchbags were demanding a free second autopsy. What assholes. Everytime the funeral director & the uncle open their mouths they piss people off. The guy said Cambridge was his "country." Uh, no. Russia is his country. He is not a citizen of the US and his parents are citizens of Russia. Bury him there. He also has the nerve to say we must separate the sin from the sinner. Fuck you. They want the feds to pressure Cambridge into burying him free as an indigent. Someone needs to tell these people that the feds can't pressure the city to do anything in this instance. They have the authority to deny him a burial in their city.

Pliers are a last resort if the barb isn't already showing.   But the needle nose are an essential boat tool.

Posted by: garrett at May 05, 2013 03:27 PM (zRa6K)

62 I like to use a .22 Magnum Rimfire on needle nose pliers. They're harder to kill than they like they should be. Roundnose Long Rifles just don't get 'er done efficiently. They need to be treated like squirrels when cooking. Parboil to tenderize them and then dredge in flour an fry. Or just made Needlenose stew. You won't be diappointed.

You should still learn to us a heavy line to back it out (with a hearty yank).  Does a lot less damage.

Provided you put the proper pressure on the head of the fly/hook/jig to get the barb into the wound channel.

I can't tell you how many extractions I've had to perform.  No way I'll get through this season without doing a half dozen or so.   Lips are the worst.

Posted by: USS Diversity at May 05, 2013 06:46 PM (5wHPS)

Are you talking about table saws or power hand held saws?  My opinion is that cheap table saws are not worth the trouble to unpack, let alone use.

Makita used to make a very small handheld circular saw (about 1" cut depth) but it was handy for some minimal clearance cuts.

Posted by: Hrothgar at May 05, 2013 03:48 PM (Cnqmv)

71  UssDiversity for a smaller circular saw a ryobi is ok

a 5 in blade i believe.

but if you use a power saw very little probably just a simple black and decker is good enough.

Posted by: willow at May 05, 2013 03:50 PM (nqBYe)

72 Hrogather, i don't think he's interested in sawing often.
(could be wrong)

i like makita  but we move a lot and so repair and build stuff often.

but more expensive
but we've had a regular makita and a worm drive for 22 years without a problem

75 Sort of a continuation of some comments on last weeks tool thread:

I invested in a Paslode gas cartridge set of nail guns, one regular and one finish.  They burn through the cartridges faster than I'd like, especially the finish nailer, BUT I think they are one of the best tool investments I have ever made.  I have done lots of oak fencing and repair untethered from an air compressor with about 15 to 20 % of the effort I used when I was hammering in 16d nails by hand.  The finish nailer lets me do very neat professional looking fine work.  All in all a very nice pair of tools to have.

Posted by: Hrothgar at May 05, 2013 03:55 PM (Cnqmv)

76 I'll add this about pliers and hand tools in general.  You get what you pay for.   I like some chinese stuff cause you use it , break it, replace it.  But some tools need to be cherished and polished and last lifetimes.

78 Hrothgar, Re; Paslode...  I have one of each too, and love 'em.  I've been remodeling my house this year and I hated the cost of them, but damn, they make the work so much easier.   And the framer...?  I've gone through a box and a quarter of nails before having to change cartridge.  ( that's like 1200 nails you guys )

79 Yip, I've heard this floated

• Back-channel communications between the White House and the Blind Shiekh's legal representatives confirm that a swap can be achieved with a high-level hostage exchange. The Sheikh's cronies are informed that Ambassador Stevens has no security in Benghazi. So the Sheikh could be secured through a trade after capturing Stevens who has had his security teams completely stripped away

But where did this information originate ?

do you know?

82 Willow, I wound up with a Bosch sabre saw and it is head and shoulders above any other sabre saw I have ever used.  You do need to read the manual because it has features you would not know are available otherwise.  A sabre saw and some clamps and straight edges can do a lot of decent cuts, if you are patient enough to set things up correctly.

Posted by: Hrothgar at May 05, 2013 03:59 PM (Cnqmv)

83 Hrothgar,   Yeah i use clamps often. still i'd prefer a table saw.

my sister and i built her patio by ourselves with one. it was faster,  you could set up mitres once and run through a 100 boards in an hour.

also didn't worry about kinking boards , and grabby saw blade .

loved it, i would have confiscated it if i had the room on the truck.

Re Paslode, Hate the cost, love the capability.  The nails per cartridge on the framing nailer is unbelievable.  The finish nailer uses a smaller cartridge but still seems to run out faster than I would have expected.  I would never again tackle any serious nailing job without these tools in the tool box.

107 Fair enough.

I apologize for having offended anyone. I really didn't mean to.

I just saw the pliers and, well...shit just happened.

108 Plus I see the TB3K zapped that comment to hell.

109 Wrong. It's still there.

112 It's a movie quote, for Christ's sake. Chill out.

You're in Ace's house.  Abide by the house rules.  And the "movie quote" thing is weak sauce.

113 Yesterday the small emergency backup dog dug up a pair of NNP that I lost nearly 3 years ago and retrieved them into the house. Not sure what she intended to do with them . . .

114 Say "movie quote" again! I dare you!

115 I'm not a big movie buff, but I'm not familiar with that line and don't think it belongs here

"Weak sauce???" You seem to be implying that I only claimed to be doing so to mask my racism.

If that's the case, make your case and have me banned. Otherwise, leave me the fuck alone. I was perfectly willing to take Tobacco's advice and make nice, but I've been called a RAA-CIST too many fucking times by progtards since teh iWon's Ascension to have to come here and hear the same shit.

Today's east coast of Florida weather was perfect. Sunny, low 80's, really low humidity with a slight breeze. Best weather in weeks.

Only downside is the May lovebug season is here, and they were thick in the air.

118 You need the heavy gauge SS types for fishing.  Or else you will only use them once before rust out.    Saltwater fishing that is.

I'm sorry you don't think it belongs here, but you're talking to a guy who got shitcanned from the Million Dollar Blog by Ed Morrissey for using the term "schadenboner."

If you're telling me that that same level of overly-sensitive, musn't-harm-the-team's-image shit goes on here, then let Ace tell me that himself.

Or just ban me. Either way, I'll get the message.

121 I've never watched Duck Dynasty.  It's kinda funny.  Uncle Si is a trip.

122 J. Severin on the Blaze network is on from 2 to 5 every afternoon. He's way more entertaining that Rush. Perhaps he's taking part of Rush's audience. Maybe Rush thinks a move will get the audience back. It won't. Rush has lost the fire in his belly that originally got him the audience he had. They aren't stupid, they know when someone on their program is avoiding discussing controversial subjects and after a while don't want to listen to a watered down show from someone who was once great. Savage and Searin have way better and more honest programs these days.
