Egypt Aflame [OregonMuse]
— Open Blogger

I keep hearing from the liberal commentariat about how everyone outside the U.S. really loves Obama, and think he's just wonderful, and how much good-will he has to accomplish great things for the U.S. internationally.

But maybe not so much.

Funny how none of these photos show up in the NY Times. Maybe a few giant puppet heads would help.

Below the fold, some geezers show you how it's done, old school:

13 Hey, did you know that HALF of the Republican precincts in America are vacant?

That's right -- we can walk in and take them, fill them with patriotic constitutionalists, and then we'd have control of 75% of the party apparatus! The pinkos did it with the Democratic Party; let's get a move on and Fight the Power.

Happy Fourth of July Weekend, folks.

I was flipping channels last night and I watched this weird looking girl with big white fake teeth on Jimmy Kimmel. She's raving on and on about nothing. Turns out it was Miley Cyrus.

She's a very stupid person yet she comes across as confident and interesting. Just like every other celebrity. And Obama. They sound good. They have a talent for making the mundane and unoriginal sound fresh.

Anyway, this girl is a dope. And I learned she's friends with Snoop Lion. Yes, Snoop Dog now goes by the name of Snoop Lion. It's no wonder why this country is falling fast. This is our culture.

75 Hey Anna: Here's the English translation of the statement that is being spread around Egypt: "The decision by the American military to take state authority out of the hands of the ruling Liberal government marks another sharp turning point in AmericaÂ’s incomplete revolution. What the Liberals neglected to understand is that democracy means more than simply holding elections. Real democracy requires inclusiveness, compromise, respect for human and minority rights, and a commitment to the rule of law. Captain Zero and his inner circle did not embrace any of these principles and instead chose to consolidate power and rule by fiat. As a result the American people and their economy suffered greatly. "It is now up to the American military to demonstrate that the new transitional government can and will govern in a transparent manner and work to return the country to democratic rule. We are encouraged that a broad cross-section of Americans will gather to rewrite the constitution. All parties in America must show restraint, prevent violence, and prepare to be productive players in the future democratic America. We encourage the military to exercise extreme caution moving forward and support sound democratic institutions through which the people and future governments can flourish."

81 About two months ago, I briefly got on Hannity; told him I wasn't that worried about Egypt, Islamic terror etc, etc.
The greatest threat to the US is democrats.  Period.  I told him that my 22 years of USAF service, and especially my last tour in Iraq had taught me that the more folks are exposed to the US Military, the more stable they will attempt to be.  Of course, it takes different amounts of time, depending on how divergent the culture is from ours.  Note I didn't say "state department" or "US government".  I specifically said the military.  And thats why I was counting on the Egyptian military to assist with this.  It seems they are doing the best they can with the population they've got.
Of course, we are the most advanced culture in the world, and look what we've done.
I'm not worried about the Muslims because say what you will, they behave themselves when the opponent has a big, fat stick, and isn't afraid to deliver an ass-whupping.  When the US is strong, the world is better behaved.
And democrats work tirelessly to weaken and sicken the US.
Hannity argued a bit, and I tried to explain how the Iraqis whom we had bombed, shot, and blown up referred to us for the year that I was there.
They called us "the friendly side".
I wrote a fabulous book about it.
A Flowershop in Baghdad.
Go read it.  It might change your mind.

If you have any complaints, or suggestions, that gooey blob at the bottom of your not sanitized toilet/vase/sink may or may not be a phone, and you should probably not try and dial '0' for assistance.

I am the First Lady of the Secretary of State who did not even get invited like Hillary to the photo-op. John is fuming mad. For him that means his eyebrows start twitching uncontrollably in spite of the Botox. It is frightful to watch. I have sent him to the guest suite of The Isobel as it makes me queasy (my poodle, Oprahpoo has not helped with her laying out her issues on John's antique desk). It is tres odd to google John and "eyebrow" as many linkies appear. Where was I? Oh, yes, the US insistence on bringing females (well, if you can call the former Sec of State!) to teach those hairy men a lesson! It is working! Times are changing in islam. One schlep at a time!

230 206 From Breitbart, only 47% of adults have a full-time job. What is considered normal? Normal? Normal is men having a job out of duty to family and a need to be self-sustaining and a love of doing things. Normal is women having a job if they want to, or if the family needs it. Normal is an employer deciding whether and when to hire and fire, without the cursed Government breathing down its neck. Normal is not getting paid if you do not put n the work. Normal is banding together voluntarily, to help each other when our feet stumble. Normal is not mandates and borrowing money to hand out goodies to the feckless and punishing the productive. Not really about your post, I know, but that word "normal" set me off. We are a long way from "normal."

They don't need them for emotional arguments. The characteristic that makes someone a good actor (Ability to Emote) is the same characteristic which makes them persuasive on an emotional level. The fact that they are generally fools, doesn't register with people who are moved mostly by emotion. Emotion always wins over reason. It's the sort of creatures we are.

Hickory is too bitter for a long smoke. It's great if you're in a hurry...but if you're going to have meat on the grill for hours....go with something mild, like cherry, apple, pecan, or walnut. If you want to give it a kick near the end, add some mesquite or hickory a few minutes before you empty the grill.

301 284 Hickory is too bitter for a long smoke. It's great if you're in a hurry...but if you're going to have meat on the grill for hours....go with something mild, like cherry, apple, pecan, or walnut. If you want to give it a kick near the end, add some mesquite or hickory a few minutes before you empty the grill. This. I made that mistake by smoking a 5lb chunk of bacon over hickory for 90 min. Too bitter, too strong. 45 min over hickory and 45 min in the oven worked out well, but I'm going to try apple the next time.

After Levon Helm died I just immersed myself in everything I could about the Band (keep in mind that I'm old enough to have seen them perform multiple times).  Even when they were still performing, it was obvious Manuel would be an early casualty.  Danko would've been the next if I had been in a dead pool.  Those two coped with success less well than the rest.  Helm was strong enough that he could get out of the trouble he got himself into.  Robertson knew, I think, that the road would kill him and needed to get out.  Hudson was the smartest of the bunch in terms of sheer musical knowledge and avoiding self destructive behavior.

Oak is fine, as are most deciduous hard woods. Just make sure the wood is stripped of bark, and thoroughly dry. Oak should be soaked in two changes of water first though.

First Sergeant- "Tell you what Hammer, go see the Chaplain and get your TS card punched."

Heh.......

"You did such a good job, Private, I'm going to stamp a gold star on your meal card."

Overheard conversation between my First Sergeant, and a new guy to the company that was fishing a bit too hard for recognition.

Only at the HQ     would the regular commenters equate    a particular caloric intake to a specific serving size and brand of beer.

I love this place.

373 Yeah, Garth is 75 now. Robertson, I think, still lives up in the Palisades, I've run into him from time to time. Levon was kinda the heart and soul, though. Sad. I think he would have been pleased to rock on for a couple more decades, he was such a good soul.

Posted by: Peach at July 05, 2013 09:54 PM (8lmkt)

Levon loved to play.  Every time I'd see him play with The Band where other musicians participated, he'd always stand up from his drums and shake their hands to show what a pleasure it was for him to play with them.  I think his desire to never stop playing on the road was what led to the rift with Robertson, who btw has never released anything any good under his own name and some of that latter stuff is embarrassing.

Somebody who Robertson was a prick to was John Simon, who was very responsible for the sound of their second album.  Apparently he wanted to join the group and Robbie told him they already had two keyboard players even though he was obviously very sympatico to them.  After the second album, the songs started to become more about the group's experiences rather than these tall tales like Jawbone and Rocking Chair.  The later songs that had the most staying power, like Acadian Driftwood, were about timeless themes rather than just life on the road.

Blink it out in code on your web cam.....in cursive if you can swing it. We all have to do our part in keeping the NSA just a little off balance.

378 Posted by: Billy Bob, pseudo intellectal at July 05, 2013 09:44 PM (wR+pz) Yup, and cobblers, too. Several years ago one of the patrols spent food $$ sparingly for seven months, pooled the savings and then made a kickass seafood paella. And it goes without saying that the adults on camping trips have prepared and eaten some fantastic Dutch oven meals. It's a real learning experience.

381 The war was over and the spirit was broken The hills were smokin' as the men withdrew We stood on the cliffs Oh, and watched the ships Slowly sinking to their rendezvous They signed a treaty and our homes were taken Loved ones forsaken They didn't give a damn Try'n' to raise a family End up the enemy Over what went down on the plains of Abraham Acadian driftwood Gypsy tail wind They call my home the land of snow Canadian cold front movin' in What a way to ride Oh, what a way to go Then some returned to the motherland The high command had them cast away And some stayed on to finish what they started They never parted They're just built that way We had kin livin' south of the border They're a little older and they've been around They wrote a letter life is a whole lot better So pull up your stakes, children and come on down Fifteen under zero when the day became a threat My clothes were wet and I was drenched to the bone Been out ice fishing, too much repetition Make a man wanna leave the only home he's known Sailed out of the gulf headin' for Saint Pierre Nothin' to declare All we had was gone Broke down along the coast But what hurt the most When the people there said "You better keep movin' on" Everlasting summer filled with ill-content This government had us walkin' in chains This isn't my turf This ain't my season Can't think of one good reason to remain We worked in the sugar fields up from New Orleans It was ever green up until the floods You could call it an omen Points ya where you're goin' Set my compass north I got winter in my blood Acadian driftwood Gypsy tail wind They call my home the land of snow Canadian cold front movin' in What a way to ride Ah, what a way to go Next to The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Acadian Drift Wood stood above all their other great recordings.

383 I like charcoal but it is, per usage, more expensive and it takes longer to get the coals to the right stage for cooking.

But well worth it, unless you are not a good cook, in which case, it doesn't matter what you use to make heat.

386 I'm really going to find something worth eating. Two weeks ago I cursed myself when I told someone that I had the first microwave that my parents bought in the mid 1980s when they first came out. Of course it promptly died. I got a new one Tuesday but I haven't used it yet. I have to eat now. I'm sure the ONT will be up by the time I'm done.

388 The rest of the world is plainly a group of racists who cannot handle having a wise and multiracial black man as President of the United States. I wonder how much of this in Egypt is caused by radical Coptic Christianity or Zionist influence. This is probably being done in an effort to delay justice for the Palestinians.
