Elizabeth Warren, Socialist Hero, Threatens Her Critics
— Ace

Elizabeth Warren sits on the Senate banking committee. This supplies her with the power to harass and harm banks.

A group called Third Way published a paper critical of Warren's views on banking.

Elizabeth Warren responded by demanding that banks -- which she has legislative and investigatory power over -- divulge any donations they may have made to Third Way.

Which is not about answering criticism -- it's about silencing it, scaring it off.

Timothy P. Carney notes the thuggery of Warren.

Warren sits on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. She's basically telling the entities whose livelihood her committee controls to stop criticizing her. This is bullying — and it's the best argument for allowing companies and individuals to anonymously criticize politicians.

Government big enough to menace and harass its critics is bad enough.

But what makes it worse is that government is increasingly controlled by people convinced with absolute metaphysical certainty of their own intellect and righteousness -- which means that any criticism or opposition is, definitionally, contrary to the public good, and that, in turn, justifies any and all means used to squelch such malevolence.

You know what the criticism leveled at Warren was, by the way? Worries by more moderate leaning Democrats that Warren and the crusading socialists might be leading the Party into dire straits.

So of course you'd implicitly threaten people for arguing this. How dare they.

In a sign of the left’s new aggressiveness, a coalition of liberals is trying to marginalize a centrist Democratic policy group that was responsible for a Wall Street Journal op-ed article this week that said economic populism was “disastrous” for the party.

The coalition, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, and three other liberal advocacy organizations have urged their members to contact a group of congressional Democrats who are honorary leaders of the centrist group, Third Way. It published the op-ed article on Monday contending that the liberalism of Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio of New York City and Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts would lead Democrats “over the populist cliff.”

The article — written by Jon Cowan, president of Third Way, and Jim Kessler, its senior vice president for policy — criticizes progressives like Ms. Warren and Mr. de Blasio for opposing measures to cut costs to Social Security and Medicare.

The liberal groupsÂ’ campaign has already gotten results, the latest indication that the liberal wing of the Democratic Party is ascendant.

While this story is noted in the media (as in this NYT article), I don't hear quite the frothy, drooley mad barking over a "coming Democratic crack-up" that I heard when the media thought the Republican Party might fracture.

Thanks to DrewM for that.

It's important to remember that in most nations ruled by leftists, the standard method for dealing with opposition has been to haul it out behind the chemical sheds and shoot it.  In some nations that's impractical, and then they have to settle for any means short of that.

They never debate opposition, just try to destroy it.

There's an even bigger "meta" reason why Warren is doing this.  The banks will not respond to this sort of thuggishness.

She is doing this because she is trying to create a narrative that the big banks fear her.  Why, of course, they must be funding this Third Way group that just attacked her!  They are so afraid of her they are co-opting liberal think tanks to go after her.  It doesn't matter what the banks answer, Warren's fanbois will see her as the Hero and the banks as the Villains who are trying to Shut Her Up.

This is her shtick and she is going to play it no matter what.

118 The movement to suppress counter-revolutionaries now going on throughout the country is a great, intense and complex struggle. The line for this work that has proved effective everywhere is the Party's mass line. This means leadership by Party committees, mobilization of the entire Party membership, mobilization of the masses, participation by the democratic parties and by personages from all circles, unified planning, unified action, strict examination of the lists of persons to be arrested or executed, attention to tactics in different phases of the struggle, widespread propaganda and education (holding various kinds of conferences, cadre meetings, forums and mass rallies, at all of which victims can bring their accusations and evidence of crimes can be displayed, and making propaganda through films, lantern-slides, stage performances, newspapers, pamphlets and leaflets, in order to make the movement known to every household and individual), a break with the practice of working behind closed doors and being secretive, and determined opposition to the deviation of rashness. Wherever this line is completely adhered to, the work is completely correct. Wherever this line is not adhered to, the work is wrong. Wherever this line is adhered to generally but not completely, the work is generally but not completely correct. We believe this line for the work is a guarantee for deepening the struggle to suppress counter-revolutionaries and for achieving full success. In the days ahead it is essential to adhere completely to this line in suppressing counter-revolutionaries. What is most important here is strictly to examine the lists of persons to be arrested or executed and to do a good job of widespread propaganda and education. Do both well and mistakes will be avoided. http://tinyurl.com/nzjwnw

Sorry, but there is and will be no civil war among Democratic Party leaders; that is, the various factions composing the coalition holding the Party together. They all agree upon ends, although some of those differ on means. Those few remaining moderates in positions of power, those we called Blue Dog Democrats, have all been purged.

There is probably some disquiet about Warren in those leadership circles since she, like DeBlasio, the newly elected mayor of New York, are very up-front about their Marxist sympathies and beliefs. That's it, that's all. No war here.

198 It's a Intraparty squabble between "extreme Communists" and "moderate Communists." The "moderate Communists" are concerned that the "extreme Communists" are undermining the Cause and have therefore become a liability to the Party. The "extreme Communists"/Communist is reacting in a thuggish manner, as Leftists often do when confronted with dissent. But that's just Leftists being Leftists. Stalin was the same way. Whenever another Leftist pissed him off, he just had them killed ("liquidated," in the langue du bois of the nomenklatura).

Warren is not "stupid" stupid but she is demonstrably not Harvard Law School material.  She is literally the only graduate of Rutgers Law School that has ever served on the faculty at HLS.  It exclusively hires graduates of the top 5 law schools.

Warren was hired at the peak of a frenzy of activism by the professional victim classes demanding more "diversity" on the HLS faculty.  She fit two slots, women and Native American (so she told them) so it was a no-brainer to hire her as an adjunct.  Then the feminists immediately began clamoring for her to get tenure.  And so she did, despite a dearth of scholarship.

She is not book-smart but she was clever enough to fake a Native American background and parlay it into jobs at Penn and then Harvard, and on to a Senate seat.  I would never understimate her on that basis.  But I don't think she wants to be President.

The Voting Rights Act limited the ability of Baton Rouge to annex portions of the city which were predominately white because the feds would consider it to be "diluting the black vote". 3. The city-parish merger of 1980 meant that everywhere within the parish was considered to be part of Baton Rouge but only areas within the city proper actually received city services. The last major annexation within the city of a residential area was in 1983 though some commercial areas have been annexed since. 4. Because Baton Rouge started on the riverfront and moved eastward, all of the new development in the past 30 years has moved further to the east and south. This puts most of the prime commercial areas in the Parish (L'auberge Du Lac casino, Mall Of Louisiana, Perkins Rowe, Town Centre) squarely in what would become the city of St. George. 5. The way that city-parish merger was drawn up made it so that all unincorporated areas had to cover 100% of all parish services and then kick what was left into the city of Baton Rouge's budget. As of last year, that ended up being $52 million in revenue where only a small fraction of that ended up being used for improvements or services within St. George. A number of people involved with the petition to form the city have been using the term "colony" with regard to St. George, as the city of Baton Rouge has been benefitting from it for years and intentionally keeping it from receiving equitable treatment with regards to funding and services.

Not  that I am aware .   I was always taught there was one tartan color scheme  with one deviation of a white stripe worn  by the Argyle clan leaders but  have  since  learned that there have been other colors claimed as official tartans based on the occasion.     Some Campbells dispute it.

Posted by: rockmom at December 06, 2013 05:56 PM (aBlZ1)

Oh yes she does, but I think she's been warned off or bought off by the Clinton people. She would be a threat from the Left, the hardcore base of the Democratic Party, which would force Hillary to tack Left in the primaries in much the same way moderate Republican candidates take a more conservative turn in the primaries. The very, very last thing Hillary Clinton wants to do is tack too far to the left in the Democratic primaries, which she would have to do in order to capture the liberal base. Doing so would be a burden in the general campaign.

You know: politics.

A single city dominating everyone else, for better or for worse. So it was with the Athenians and pretty much everyone else too. Perhaps the Mongols and others had a slightly different take on things, but that was hardly any better. Later, all. God bless. :-)

290 You may be correct about people in the political hiearachy (sp) I just know a lot of Democrats (I used to be one) who are intelligent and good people. They are just fixed watchers of CNN and don't really know how completely left their party has gone. I Know it's heard to believe, but it's true.

292 Some good gun news from last month.  In Bassfield, MS.  A thief gets impatient and shoots the clerk in the leg for not handing the money over fast enough.  Leaves store and then that green-eyes monster called greed gets the better of him.  So he goes back into the store to get the rest of the money.

Meanwhile the injured clerk has retrieved his 9mm and opened fire.  They estimate the thug was hit 11 to 13 times.  Pronounced dead at the scene was the thug.

298 So, WHILE Obama continues his war on the rich/evil capitalism, and funnels billions into the pockets of Goldman Sachs, Solyndra and such and they in return funnel money into demorat coffers.  The village idjits are confused as to why common boy Obama is so common, and yet lives beyond the wealthy, and big business wallows in wealth.  See how evil big oil 'suffers' at the gas pump prices too.  Can a fool be convinced/educated to get over being a manipulated fool ?  If not, our fates are written in stone.

301 Elizabeth Warren is the greatest new star in the progressive movement since our wise President, Barack Obama. Both embody the finest educations with America's diverse ethnic heritage. I am a big fan.

An easy way to find racists is look among their enemies. And Senator Warren SHOULD be looking for the enemies of the people hiding among the "international banking community."  The same dark forces that fund false-flag corporate shill groups like Third Way also fund the illegal wars against the Palestinians and other brown people. Justice for Palestine!
