I don't know about you, but I always figured that the way Satan would appear to others would be not in accordance with his actual nature. He would appear to them to be kindly, self-effacing, avuncular, modest and trustworthy.

OK, I'll bite.
The point is- liberals love to screech about "diversity" and accuse any entity they dislike of being racist if they're deemed "too white".
See: attacks on the Tea Party, Fox News, and Republicans in general.
Yet, they themselves don't feel obligated to live up to their own standards. See: The MSNBC primetime lineup.

In other news: Madonna is still in search of relevancy. Too bad she's starting to dress like my old Aunt Mable off her meds.
Her three reasons why the BSA should allow her (and flaming gay men like Anderson Cooper) to be troop leaders:
1 - She knows how to "start a fire."
2. - She knows how to "pitch a tent." (Oh oh clever. . . clever. Sniff)
3. - She knows how to "scout" for boys.
Just the qualifications we should look for in a leader of impressionable young men.

Yeah, our son said the first two weeks sucked (and he was in good physical shape) and then it was "fun." Except for the 17° temps during the Crucible.
I have to admit, my heart literally stopped this morning when I heard "Marines killed during training excercise." Our son is doing jungle warfare training the next couple of weeks. I feel guilty about the relief I felt when I heard "Nevada." I'm so brokenhearted for the families.

Then again, Weekends working fast food, it was far more cost effective for me to put in a few hours at work and cut the "buy out" check than it was for me to run all over trying to sell the stuff. You're kidding, right? You did notice the official statement from the Boy Scouts of America regarding gays in scout troops a few weeks ago, right? That statement in and of itself should put the kibosh on claims that the LDS church runs the Boy Scouts.
Now the Latter-Day Saints probably do have a strong amount of influence. But that's because of the number of troops that the LDS church maintains, and the problems that others have in putting troops together for one reason or another (for instance, last I'd heard no school troops in the area I live in due to all of the liability issues).

The vast majority of that was funded by selling Hostess snacks outside the lunchroom every day (the 4 of us took rotations) and selling Soda at the Beginning of the year mixer.
There were a few donations, but the vast majority of those went to funding the center where we worked. That was the deal, if you want to go, you work the Hostess stand. (The professor bought stuff from the day old store and we sold it.)

I don't know of any Catholic official action to dissociate from BSA. When I was a scout, the RC church-based troops were huge -- and unruly. I suspect that the semi-urban congregations that sponsored and staffed those hollowed out, and that the new suburban ones are not as enthusiastic about chartering.
A younger friend of mine studied for the priesthood at Sacred Heart Major in Detroit. They had a beautiful museum room of Scouting memorabilia from the former head of the school, who had been the one to put his the imprimatur on BSA for that diocese when he was bishop. They also had along hall of class pictures -- 50 or more new priests every year for decades, usually five or so now, many of those exchange students from you-know-where.
I saw Penn's Bullshit on scouting. It was, indeed, bullshit. I don't watch anymore.

Leaving aside "annoying the shit out of each other" is the culture around here, no, they don't reciprocate. All the "demanding money so Special Snowflake can win prizes without having to do any work herself" goes one way: from the guys with kids at home to the single/childless people (who are the only people here every weekend when there's a deadline, I might add).

The Girl Scouts do take a hefty percentage. Here I believe the troop only gets 20% of their cookie sales. So, they are all quite glad when you just hand them a cash donation because that goes right to their troop.
The various local troops around here love cash donations....but they're still on the hook for however many cases of cookies they committed too. I don't think they can send them back...they have to sell them. I end up buying a lot....and forwarding them to my son's units....also, I end up eating way too many fucking cookies.

And honestly? the lesbians were tough as nails and I'd be just fine fighting alongside many of the great NCOs I served with.
I recall one afternoon I was on the drill pad "motivating" my troops through BMT, and a runner came out and said "Sir, SSgt xxxx wants you. She won't talk to anyone else."
She'd had a tough day, to put it mildly: she'd been outed. I respected her and considered her as a friend. I'd drop on a grenade for her as much as any of my other guys.
