Captain Bullshit: A Retrospective
— andy

The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account, to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day, because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

45 so at noon today carney would not even admit the IRS did anything wrong and now at 8:30 PM obama releases this: I have now had the opportunity to review the Treasury Department watchdogÂ’s report on its investigation of IRS personnel who improperly targeted conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status. And the reportÂ’s findings are intolerable and inexcusable. The federal government must conduct itself in a way thatÂ’s worthy of the publicÂ’s trust, and thatÂ’s especially true for the IRS. The IRS must apply the law in a fair and impartial way, and its employees must act with utmost integrity. This report shows that some of its employees failed that test. IÂ’ve directed Secretary Lew to hold those responsible for these failures accountable, and to make sure that each of the Inspector GeneralÂ’s recommendations are implemented quickly, so that such conduct never happens again. But regardless of how this conduct was allowed to take place, the bottom line is, it was wrong. Public service is a solemn privilege. I expect everyone who serves in the federal government to hold themselves to the highest ethical and moral standards. So do the American people. And as President, I intend to make sure our public servants live up to those standards every day. I smell panic or maybe I just farted. One of the 2

74 O/T but a metaphor for the current administration and their Chicago thug behavior. From CBS Chicago affiliate: "Being a police officer just got more dangerous in Chicago. According to information gathered by the Cook County Sheriff’s office, a street gang wants to ambush and kill police officers near 19th and Oakley west of the Loop. According to some of the information gathered, gang members intend to coax police officers into chasing them into alleys or gangways. Once inside, other gang members would shoot the officers. People living in the area say police have been cracking down on gangs, and that might have prompted the directive. “It doesn’t really surprise me because I think it would be anybody that threatened to take their lifestyle away,” Elizabeth Jimenez says. A police source also tells CBS 2 the gang has reportedly conducted surveillance of police officers after they get off work, in an attempt to find out where they live. It’s not known if the gang members have been successful." While we are enjoying watching Obama and the left squirm under the recent scrutiny, we mustn't forget how dangerous they are and how they will retaliate when threatened.

I do not joke.

The whole thing is a farce. The People are just The Audience to The Show.

Ratings are down!! What do we do?

Move to another time slot?

Make adjustments to the script?

Bring in friggin Cousin Oliver?

We have to do something to keep The People's eyeballs glued to the TV set.

That being said, back when people were remarking about how much a certain actor resembled Obama, I thought it was ridiculous, but at the same time I did notice a striking similarity in how Satan is portrayed as a liar who is always sweet-talking andtempting people to do the wrong thing, and this President.

114 What's saddening to me is that the purpose of the government is nothing like what Barack describes. Government isn't there to provide you a job, or to clothe you or feed you, or plan for your retirement, or arrange your health care. Government is NOT a vehicle for personal service. It is NOT a positive engine designed to advance you and fill your life full of chocolate and butterflies. Rather, it's core business is this: Defend the borders; Arbitrate disputes fairly; Deal with other governments; Maintain a solid monetary system.

Our current government flunks all of those core missions. Instead it's trying to mug a cover for People magazine.

So here's my prediction: Leftwinger, highly political groups that have become accustomed to getting exempt status outside the law are preparing themselves for the 2016 change of power. We are likely to have a Republican prez in 2016-2020; that administration will not be able to easily prosecute leftwing tax-exempt groups no matter how badly it is deserved due to changes that will be implemented today due to this IRS scandal. Today's top lefties such as holder are throwing today's IRS lefties to the dogs in order to pass new laws allowing tomorrow's lefties to remain unscrutinized.

Then I got re-audited again on the same year's return (2009) for something else they found questionable, have misplaced my explanation packet, then I just got a back tax bill for eight grand I don't have.

That year was the year I got out of the Army with a separation check equal to about a full year's pay, so I made double. I guess that made me middle-class.

I've been under thirty thousand a year take-home for the last three tax years. With the two months a year we always seem to be furloughed at the end of each fiscal year, sometimes way under.

Republican outrage is predictable, maybe even manageable. Democratic outrage is not.

The dam of solid Democratic solidarity has collapsed, starting with New York Times columnist Maureen DowdÂ’s weekend scolding of the White House over Benghazi, then gushing with the news the Justice Department had sucked-up an absurdly broad swath of Associated Press phone records.

Democrats are privately befuddled by the White HouseÂ’s flat-footed handling of this P.R. and legal mess, blaming a combination of bad timing, hubris and communications ineptitude. The most charitable defense offered up on background is that Obama staffers are scandal virgins, unaccustomed to dealing with a rabid press

One of the checkers at my local Kroger is a senior citizen with a visible disability.  I like to stand in her line when I have booze, because she's old enough to ring it up without calling for a manager but one of these days when I see her ring up a junk food purchase for a young person with no visible disability who is paying for it with a Hoosier Works[sic] card I will have an apopletic fit.

One Democrat who likes Obama and has been around town for many years said elected officials in his own party are no different than Republicans: they think the president is distant and unapproachable.

“He has never taken the Democratic chairs up to Camp David to have a drink or to have a discussion,” the longtime Washingtonian said. “You gotta stroke people, and talk to them. It’s like courting: you have to send flowers and candy and have surprises.

188 #70, 83, 86: >>The news of this IRS scandal broke, what - 3 days ago? And there's already a finished written investigative report? And Obama just heard about it over the weekend? Something smells. Via The Corner: It struck me as odd that IRS official Lori Lerner would suddenly offer a mea culpa ex nihilo — on the sensitive subject of the agency’s targeting of political enemies — off the cuff while she was speaking at a tax conference organized by the American Bar Association. When she was asked about that during a telephone call on Friday, she said only that she was asked a question and answered it. But there is a bit more to it than that. The question at the ABA conference came from Washington-based tax lawyer Celia Roady, a lobbyist in the firm of Morgan Lewis. Roady is certainly well-versed in the issue at hand: She was named to the influential Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Government Entities in 2010 by Douglas Shulman, at that time commissioner of the IRS. Lerner is the director for tax-exempt organizations at the IRS. Roady was serving on the Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Government Entities while tea-party groups and other conservative organizations were being targeted by the IRS. Not exactly a question out of the blue — Capitol Hill sources described the question as “planted” and say the IRS has informally admitted as much. Neither Roady nor the IRS responded to requests for comment on this issue. http://tinyurl.com/axmfsnt

192 Funny how audits are triggered. During the last recession, 10-12 years ago, I had a terrible year in my business.

193 You know,  they keep emphasizing that this didn't come from the White House and Obama didn't order it (referring to the IRS stuff).

Well,

So,  let's say OFA has a list of members who wowrk for the IRS.

And let's say that someone from the Chicago HQ of OFA plays golf with Obama one Sunday.  Said OFA guy  gets a request or suggestion from Obama that perhaps some of these groups are a pain in the neck.

SO,  said OFA person sends out an email or makes phone calls (probably the latter since it would leave no paper trail) and asks IRS-employed OFA members to "help out however they can."  Rewards are promised. (Check payments from OFA to people in DC.)

So they do their assigned task,  and the cannon fodder will probably get fired.  But where is the information?  Probably in OFA's super-giant computer.

Arrest them all,  I say.

I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating [President-elect Obama], but offering our next president our good will and earnest effort to find ways to come together, to find the necessary compromises, to bridge our differences, and help restore our prosperity, defend our security in a dangerous world, and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger, better country than we inherited.

John Mccain Nov 5th, 2008

Make up your mind, John. Are we going to support Barack the Magnificent, or are we going to restore our prosperity, defend our security, and leave our progeny a stronger, better country? You can't have it both ways.

273 CNN Atlanta - "Today on Friday May 17th, 2013 an undocumented guest worker Ewok announced through his lawyer, Cousin It, that he has claimed the Powerball jackpot from Wednesday.  He says he will take the lump sum of $230 million and plans to buy the Los Angeles Times with his winnings.  When asked why he wants to buy a newspaper, the Ewok replied, 'Yub! Yub!' and Cousin It translated it, 'Because I want to fap.'  The price of Los Angeles Times stock plummeted even as the stock price of pudding shot up."

What a rancid piece of self-serving, cocksucking, wife-cheating, backstabbing piece of shit John McCain has turned out to be.

45 years ago he did one selfless thing. The rest of his life has been one selfish act after another.

He is a bad man.

Even beyond Benghazi. TheLeft's most productive
sales pitch is opposition to the Wealthy and Powerful. The U.S. government is the most wealthy and powerful entity in the history of man. And the Left works day in and day out to make it more wealthy and powerful. We should probably mention that as often as possible, no?  Posted by: CJ at May 14, 2013 09:43

Yes but the leftists will never listen to anything coming close to reason., They rail against Wall Street and big business - who were some of Obama's biggest supporters ?

We're not  tryig to convince the leftists. We need to  use this obvious talking point  to  undercut the left's appeal to the public.  To put  a finer point  on it: The Left implores voters  to fear the  influence of the Wealthy and Powerful in Washington, while working day in and day out  to make Washington more...wealthy and powerful.  The Willie Sutton  analogy.  And it just so happens that  the Washington  DC  area is the  most wealthy  in the country.

Really, we can't  make this a staple of our talking  points?

Was just over at Puffho. They are going batshit with the tu quoque BS over the IRS and Bengazhi. I will address the IRS stuff.

They claim that under Bush the IRS went after the NAACP, Greenpeace, and a progressive church in an abusive or discriminatory manner. They conflate this to excuse what their side did.

The church: Preached against the Iraq war. Preaching politics + tax exempt status means you can lose it. So they were right to "threaten" revocation.

NAACP: Passed around an anti George Bush flyer at their convention. Again- possible violation.

Greenpeace: Guilty of "nine deficiencies in the management and practices of Greenpeace USA and warned that "Failure to ensure appropriateness of grant and gift funds could jeopardize the exempt status of {Greenpeace} fund."

In fact Greenpeace USA's two arms, it's 501 c3 Greenpeace Fund and it's 501 c 4 advocacy wing Greenpeace Inc., were told to change their practices "due to the illegal nature" of their activities. "

300 165 I got audited last year. They then admitted the mistake was theirs.

Then
I got re-audited again on the same year's return (2009) for something
else they found questionable, have misplaced my explanation packet, then
I just got a back tax bill for eight grand I don't have.

That
year was the year I got out of the Army with a separation check equal to
about a full year's pay, so I made double. I guess that made me
middle-class.

I've been under thirty thousand a year take-home
for the last three tax years. With the two months a year we always seem
to be furloughed at the end of each fiscal year, sometimes way under.

With
this bullshit, I cannot help but wonder if my anti-Obama paper trail on
the Internet- here, Facebook, the old Free State Wyoming forum when I
thought I might move, Arfcom, and so on- might have gotten me on an
enemies list I cannot financially afford to be on.

Looks like I have to cash out my one IRA to pay the IRS off.

In 91, I got a disabled discharge. I was lump summed {base pay x 2 x # of years - E-% with 11 years = over $30 grand} They took a 1/3d off the top. YEARS later, the IRS letter reached me {too late} to inform me that the were NOT supposed to tax that lump sum. Over 10 grand, poof. FUCK the IRS!!!
