Ezra Klein, NYT Reporter Wife Double-Team Larry Summers
— Ace

Yeah, you live that image.

You have all displeased me in one way or another and now this is what you get.

But give it a read. Johnathan V. Last calls it "Juicebox Kremlinology." It's a little peek into how the New Class operates.

I know my blogging sucks this week but I am seriously run-down and getting sick from it. Not super-sick, just that sort of sick you start getting when your sleep is bad. Like where your body and metabolism just start mounting slow-down protests and start engaging in petty sabotages.

Oh by the way I thought yesterday was Wednesday all day and I kept thinking "Hump day! Two more days! Whoo-hoo!" and then I checked the calendar and got a big fat slap in the face from Tuesday.

So yeah my brain isn't really working.

105 The incestuous nature of the Juicebox Mafia is really something to behold.  Erza Klein works for the Washington Post, from which position he recommended they hire Dave Weigel to cover the "conservative beat."  After he got shitcanned, Weigel got hired by Slate.  How, you might ask?  Well, the person running Slate's "Moneybox" financial reporting/commentary section at that time just happened to be one...Annie Lowrey, girlfriend of Ezra Klein.  Who subsequently departed for the New York Times, leaving the position to be taken over by...Matt Yglesias, juiceboxer extraordinaire.

If you tried to conenct all the dots between these people you'd end up with a chart that looks like something out of Mel Gibson's Conspiracy Theory.

An article on Friday about Janet L. Yellen and Lawrence H. Summers as possible successors to Ben S. Bernanke as chairman of the Federal Reserve omitted context for a quotation from Richard W. Fisher, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. In an interview earlier this year on CNBC, Mr. Fisher said of a potential choice to replace Mr. Bernanke: “It’s a presidential decision, and we’ll see if it is driven by gender or other considerations and so on. Janet is extremely capable. There are other capable people.” He did not say simply that a decision to choose Ms. Yellen would be “driven by gender.”

What strikes me in these kinds of stories is how the media people involved are married  to each other, Klein and Lowery.

Choosing to forego the traditional route and share the same last name, it  then  appears as if two different people are pushing the same message.  As if uncoordinated.  When  it is not.

Unless every story indicates that their  spouse is so-and-so, it gets hard to follow the players without a program.

I was very suprised to see that recent post here listing all the White House connected people with differently-named spouses in the media.  Shocked, even!  Well, only sort of.

Btw, there's plenty not to like about Yellen, too. Her unpleasant Clinton association, her marriage to George Akerloff (apparently neither believes the market is the best determiner of minimum wages, and Akerloff apparently drew the blueprint for what the financial oligarchs want to do before they flee to Shanghai and their luxury high-rise condos there, namely, loot whatever they can and leave the taxpayers of this and subsequent generations holding the bag), her awful haircut, and her views as an inflation "dove".
Let's just abolish the Fed, huh?

Someone needs to make it perfectly clear to Brad Pitt that his true calling is comedy. Especially the "charming rogue who isn't nearly as smart as he thinks he is" character (Aldo Raine, Mr. Smith). Lots of fun to watch.

Damn near every time he does drama, it's fucking BORING.

201 Well, I'm not expecting too much historical accuracy from a show that has George Washington sending a school teacher/British defector on a secret mission to kill Death.

I am worried how they plan to have the deputy fight evil and keep her day job.

Fringe was good in that it had the agency devoted to covering up the crazy stuff. Then they painted themselves in a corner with the aluminum blood things second season; that's when I knew the show was going to be short-lived and not an "X-files."

(Don't get me wrong, the early X-files had a lot of aliens stuff. But someone wised up and steered in more "crazy shit" plots; many of which ended up being the best episodes. Which made it fun to watch. Then the later shows fell into that trap again and there was no where to go.)

Anyway, in the most recent episode (season 2) two of the leading characters got into a debate over NSA spying that could have been lifted from todays papers verbatim.  It's really amazing what liberties we decided to give up to chase the terrorists.

207 They made a point of pointing out witch burnings that obviously didn't happen, and the dead cop's files mentioned hundreds of crimes that were never investigated over the years. I think Sleepy Hollow is going to be a spookier Twin Peaks on some level. Also, Four Horsemen prophecy. Yeah, it's not a historical record.

Either way: Top demon capable of jumping dimensions is always a good foil.

=====================================

Quoting TJ on the dangers of Bankers and Banking means you should at least include a disclaimer that he was a financial illiterate who went through two near-bankrupt experiences in his lifetime, both due to excessive personal debt, and in one instance was saved only by Congress' purchase of most of his personal library (which they did as a favor to keep the former President and Founding Father out of foreclosure and maybe jail).

In other words, lets find some other authority on anti-federal reserve banking.  No Andrew Jackson either.  He was a nut on the subject, but that doesn't make him informed.

Who cares if the flight attendants are kind of crabby, if I get the first checked bag free and a round trip, direct flight from SLC to my east coast family for under $300?
