— Ace At the Conversation, Lisa DePasqual has noted two articles from liberal/feminist-friendly rags which kinda-sorta undermine central pillars of feminist propaganda, here and here.
I wonder if this is a case of some people feeling the general mission of propaganda is largely accomplished and it's now safe to occasionally begin speaking like honest adults. The left likes to call its lies not lies but "countermyths," myths (which are lies) aimed at displacing the already-existing myths of society. But the only justification for such a lie is to, at some point, begin speaking the truth.
Shouldn't we start doing that at some point?
I Did Not Lie When I Promised You That Certain Things Would Not Happen In Your Mouth
It was a "countermyth."

It seems as though the word "countermyth" implies that the original truism is not true.
But in the rarified air of political speech, words don't convey truthful meaning anyway, so what does it matter?

I'm reminded yet again of the discussion between Vorbis and Brutha in Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" novel, "Small Gods," about the nature of truth.
"There are some things which appear to be the truth, which have all the hallmarks of truth, but which are not the real truth. The real truth must sometimes be protected by a labyrinth of lies"
...
"But in the trivial sense of the truth," said Brutha... "in the trivial sense, Brother Murduck died, did he not, in Omnia, because he had not died in Ephebe, had been merely mocked, but it was feared that others in the Church might not understand the, the deeper truth, and thus it was put about that the Ephebians had killed him in, in the trivial sense, thus giving you, and those who saw the truth of the evil of Ephebe, due cause to launch a-a just retaliation."
...
[Brutha] heard himself say, "And with people like the Ephebians, there is no truce. No treaty can be held binding, if it is between people like the Ephebians and those who follow a deeper truth..."
I think of it often, because it is a perfect crystallization of how the left have so convinced themselves of the evilness of those of us on the right that they consider every act, every word, every insult and smear to be justified, because they work in pursuit of a "greater truth."

I think there's a pernicious idea in our society, on both the left and the right, that you don't really love something until you prove your love by encoding it into law.
I'd counter that it's the Left, with their love of control over others (while exempting themselves) who want that love forced down our throats.
We conservatives tend to live our love of freedom and truth in our everyday lives.

It makes the Left seem more and more like a mystery religion, or like Gnosticism (as some book was claiming.)
I don't know that you can really make the connection except to say that the left has absorbed, like other people and institutions and traditions, things that it finds useful from other sources. The 'maze of lies' technique creates an illusion of depth and has the benefit of actually harming the person involved (don't forget the misanthropy on the left.)
It's a way for incompetent elites to feel powerful.

I think Ace's point is that if it's truly Natural Law what do you need to make human law about it for?
My take on this is that Natural law alone is never enough for a society, let alone a fallen human society.
If this were not the case, free will would be illusory and man would have no liberty and thus, would be ontologically incapable of virtue.
Customary law is where it's at. Bring me your weird customs and taboos!

There's more to it than that, though. You can frame the issue in different ways (for instance, some Orthodox frame all western heresies as arising from the filioque clause) which indeed may be a consistent framing, in that it may actually accurately describe what is going on, but also may not be the most useful way to frame it, nor (again) the only valid framing of the issue.
Plus the fact that people tend to rarely have just one motivation for anything, most generalizations are rarely silver bullets; there is more than one thing going on.
It is true, however, that the left has by-in-large won the peace, if you will, in that they have undermined faith (as Nietzsche predicted) and ensured that even their enemies use their framing as 'default' when talking about issues. It's like when you write a sentence about abortion:
The mother wanted got pregnant and wanted and abortion, but the father objected.
Notice the lexicon excludes the third person directly involved.

Why would robot overlords necessarily treat their human subjects harshly? Machines, you would think, would be all about preventive maintenance and ensuring that their organic "units" were operating efficiently. That would include feeding, clothing and sheltering as well as psychological benefits, like allowing entertainment, or like throwing you a robot hand-jay when you needed one? Why would a robot care? It would be just like taking care of any other type of equipment.

One doesn't have to be a Christian, no. But the idea that life is sacred, people are entitled to live freely according to their conscience, and the notion that people are entitled to the fruits of their labor via property rights can be traced back to the beginnings of Judaism. They are not inherent to all cultures. Much of those ideas took hold because of Judaism.
An interesting book to read on that is "The Gift of the Jews: How a Nomadic Tribe Changed the Way Everyone Thinks and Feels" by Thomas Cahill.

Apparently the true Beyonce has been unmasked. For years she tried to paint herself as some humble female, trying to empower women everywhere. Now...straight hood rat central. But as I have been telling everyone for years, she is from Houston, Texas, so her behavior is not surprising.

From the linked article at Drudge
In the song, Beyoncé sings to her female fans: "I know when you were little girls / You dreamed of being in my world / Don't forget it, don't forget it / Respect that, bow down, bitches", with the refrain “bow down, bitches” aggressively and tediously repeated throughout the song. We’ve come a long way since the days of “put a ring on it.” Put a sock in it, more like.

Oh, it's a "thing" alright.
Everyone. I repeat EVERYONE you ever see doing that, KNOWS what they're doing. And they're doing it on purpose.
They do it to make those who are the recipients uncomfortable, angry, embarrassed etc.
They do it to psyche out those they do it to.
They KNOW no one will call them out on it.
It's a game a passive aggressive game and it shows what a small, small person he truly is.
