For Your Bidding Pleasure (Niedermeyer's Dead Horse)
— Open Blogger

If you happen to be in the Jacksonville area , and are in the mood for a luxury car or some bling, the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office would like to speak to you.

For a real giggle, check out photos 19-21 and tell me that drug dealers aren't the sensitive type.

Note: Does anyone else think these prices might be a TAD bit high?

Oh, and Open Thread.

11 The Lambo doesn't seem like a bad price, with only 12K miles on it.  But the 2006 truck thing with 111,000 for 15,000 bucks?  Hullo!!!  Why is the far lower mileage Beemer only 10,000?

And the jewelry is absolutely cringeworthy!  Most of it 10 karat, which is cheap junk.

12 Maybe they are hoping that the high prices will attract more drug dealers. I can't imagine any other person those items would bring in.

23 In regards to the Gang of Eight and their desire not to have hearings--if Congress is not to be a deliberative body, but simply one where prepackaged bills are put up for votes, then why not do away with Senators and Congressmen entirely--and their supposed superior powers of discernment, which can't apparently be trusted enough to have hearings--- and just go to a pure demos as in Ancient Athens: decisions made by direct votes of the people themselves? The technology now exists for this, and would reduce the effect of party--a supposed evil of our time. If Congress cannot have hearings to delve deeper into issues, but simply defers thinking and framing to a handful of "elects", why have a Congress at all? Can not the people do these final up or down votes also, just as easily, and cheaper? So it would seem.

53 Our god-king should make all crime legal, that way the former criminal element is paying its fair share in taxes.

Once everything is illegal, nothing will actually be a crime, and thus it can be taxed.

This will provide emergency funding for in-vitro sexual re-assignment and drones coded for each citizen's personal brain implant.

Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse at April 06, 2013 06:14 PM (piMMO) Like the cops themselves. It's a common bit of corruption for cops to quietly buy seized cars at auction. Example: back in the 90s in Adelanto, CA, the PD used to confiscate cars for any reason they could come up with; expired registration, drugs, DUI, anyone with out of state plates, driving while looking like a sucker etc. The common scam was to quickly load up on storage fees so that the original owner wrote off the car, then the high ranking cops would buy the cars at auction (with just a few hours public notice) for pennies in order to resell, often over the border in Mexico to get around the CA DMV.

72 I been waiting on an open thread! This last week in DC, I finally saw a cop on a Segue! A pudgy cop. He was trying to navigate himself across a street, and pedestrians were just streaming around him, as he inched left...paused...inched right....paused....eased forward a foot or two...paused. It looked silly. To complete the comedic effect, they really need to outfit those bad boys with lights and sirens. Maybe equip the riders with flashing yellow strobe light special helmets. The Washington Monument is encased in scaffolding about half way up now. Still impressive as hell. DC is apparently booming. From the same high school where I found several spent 9mm shells, I counted 23 of those massive high rise cranes in the area. There are also lots of those Obama Stimulus signs plastered everywhere. The live fire demo was pretty damned cool. Sensors detected the gun shots, cameras in the area immediately zoomed in on the spot. Pretty impressive. This is a fun, interesting job, but heights are not something I've ever been really comfortable with. It's a challenge to access, and work at some of the properties, and the pucker factor when stepping across an open void, with nothing but air for six stories beneath you, pegged the 'what the fuck am I doing?' scale more than a few times.

My own personal opinion, which isn't worth much, is that Jong-Un will come down with a serious case of poisoning very soon. China doesn't need this shit. I was happy to hear, however, that both Great Britain and Russia told NK to go pound sand, that they aren't pulling their diplomats from SK. That, I believe, is a smart move. This one is marked "early Ghia" and appears to be the same size as the one pictured in the link you gave me a few days ago. It's down in the truck right now. I don't think there is a large enough space in the dash of a Beetle to accommodate this clock?

87 My son lost a 93 Mustang GT that way. Sad thing is...he wasn't the one that ran from the cops (which is why the car got seized). He learned not to loan cars out the hard way. Posted by: GGE of the Moron Horde, NC Chapter at April 06, 2013 06:45 PM (yh0zB) The less intentional lesson the police teach in situations like that is "police steal from people." The person in my anecdote above went from pro-cop to mildly anti-cop over that one incident. It affected his trust for people he worked with and associated with. The legend is that Things Were Different Here, we weren't a place where capricious bureaucrats destroy lives over technicalities. Maybe that was never true, but it's less true now than, say, when my Dad was a kid.

90 At everyone else's expense. No doubt. Everything in this area is coming up roses.....everywhere else in this country...not so much. The first, and so far only time I actually saw any of those Obama Stimulus signs was in DC. Lots of Obama bumper stickers, and almost exclusively plastered on very high end, or new vehicles. I'm going back home tomorrow. Where things are normal. A week or two off to do laundry, get my car into the shop for some badly needed maintenance, unwind, enjoy home and family, then I'm coming back. Interesting DC Landmarks I've Peed On: U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters RFK Stadium DHS Building I plan on adding to this list.

Yeah..., I spent some time out the AG School, so there were all branches there, I'm pretty sure that I just arbitrarily saluted some Navy EM, just because I could figure WTF they were, and wasn't taking chances. BTW, some of the hottest female officers (whatever their proclivities might be) were the WAVES and Marines. Pretty much Off-Limits to a doggie EM, but having a salute returned was more acknowledgement than I have received from some much less desirable and more accessible women. 433 People tend to forget that power companies sell electricity to each other.  So they are interconnected and the circuits balanced.  If good chunks of that grid go down the rest of the grid might go also.  So a whole country in the dark until they can replace what is fried or cut off the damaged areas.

For example to how tricky this might be.  There is, as of the late 1990s, a custom made transformer for NYC that if it failed would take six months to replace of course that is assuming no other outages.

517 Here's a fun little piece at Powerline about the "journalists" who take it upon themselves to lecture us about guns, a topic on which their knowledge costs of buzz words like "semiautomatic." It seems that some actually went to a gun range to hold and fire one of those talismans of reichwing evil.

Hilarity ensued.

Then someone handed me a Glock.

There suddenly was only one overriding truth and it was exploding in my hands, like a tiny cannon. I held on as my kindly gun-range instructor urged me to breathe deeply and squeeze gently.

“Good, good,” he kept saying, but I felt like I was holding on for dear life.

But I felt no sense of “gun control” — not much better than the member of our party who screamed and dropped the weapon on a table after it fired.

Nice picture, that.  The intrepid journalista fires a dreaded handgun, drops it and shrieks like a 5 year-old girl. I'll put money on the proposition that this was a grownup metrosexual male who considers himself open-minded and progressive, and only wants to teach us. For the children and stuff.

Well..., anything meaningful.
In some jurisdictions, notably CA and IL, allowable lead content for manufactured products is at or below naturally occurring ambient levels. A friend in the CD manufacturing business has done the calculation, and in order for their CD's to sell into those markets, the level must extremely low. To give you a sense of it, a child would have to EAT 24 CD's a day for a month before they had consumed enough lead to reach Child Protection Act levels of lead ingested

"NO, I'm in fucking dupont! major rat problem ever since we've been here."

When I lived there, I remember sitting at some outside at some restaurant on Conn. Ave, near the Zoo, and this rodent came out behind a bush a few feet away from where we were sitting. At first I thought it was a squirrel - then I saw the tail. We ended up taking our plates and wine inside the restaurant even though it was a beautiful spring evening because all I could think about was damn rats in the bushes, which made it hard to relax.

So they were around back in the '80's, even in chi-chi NW DC, but it wasn't as bad as it sounds like it is right now.

Of course, there are more human rats around there now too....

Imagine a world with no cell phones, cars newer than the 70's that could not start, no cable TV, no internet, the 'gummit" shut down (thank you God) and millions of gun owners out here defending the back 40 as it should have been from the beginning. I have many Russian Guns and 25K rounds of ammo for them. I have the tools to fix them (hammer and duct tape). I would miss AoSHg, and all of you special, lovely people. Other than that, I'm good. Bring it on.
