Fossas!
— Ace

You dummies are really taken with @comradearthur's stupid flying squids.

You're missing the real headline -- Fossas! (They appear as the heroes late in the clip.)

Fossas prove the theory which I, a latecomer to the whole Naturalism game (but out of the gate with very solid work), have developed:

Any animal where you go "what the hell is that?" is some form of weasel.

Always. There are no exceptions.

Fisher? What the hell is that?

Per the Ace Rule of Non-Identifiable Mammals: It's a form of weasel.

Bang, you just impressed your friends.

No exceptions. "Weasel" is the "Other" category of animals. If it's not clearly something else it's a weasel.

Zen and the Flight of Squirrels: Not as cool as fossas, and not a type of weasel, but cooler than those dumb non-flying squids you can't get enough of.

Jane,

There are four types of military docs:

1. Those who need Uncle Sam to pay off their student debt  (pray you get one of these).

2. Those running from malpractice cases and/or their 'high-risk' malpractice insurance is no longer affordable.

3. Those who graduated from the Zimbabwe School of Medicine (a grueling 2-week course)....English-speaking ability optional.

4. Outstanding doctors who just want to serve their country and don't mind taking half pay (or less).  Probably under 2% of total.

No worries Jane-   Just like anything else, there are some very good military docs and some really crappy ones.  My daughter was treated with ultimate disrespect by a supposed expert in his field at a university hospital and told that she should wear long dresses to cover up her crooked legs.

A fine orthopedic surgeon at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver later operated on those legs and gave her a new level of function that she could only imagine prior to that.  And an endocrinologist in the Army took great care of her also.

Plus Mrs. Muldoon was so impressed with army docs that she married one.

108 104 30 plus years of pecker checkers, they come in all flavors. Some good, some bad. Now you mostly see PAs, not actual doctors.

CSMBB-  I like that term- pecker checkers.  My brother was a urologist, we call him a dick doc.

109 hey NJ morons:

The worst of these bills have the effect of banning all rifle-barreled shotguns, numerous rifles and handguns, most rifle ammunition, and magazines that hold over 10 rounds. Ammunition sales would be severely restricted, logged and reported to the State Police, and internet and catalog sales would be banned.

When it comes to weasels diversifying, it's not a case of should or shouldn't. It's a case of MUST

111 Weasel courtship: Male weasel : Hey bebe , wassup . Female weasel : Oh fuck off , asshole . Fight to the death ensues . Four months later , baby weasels are born ,,,, snarling at the world .

112 Just imagine the horror of giant, deep-sea living squids attacking us.

TFG would jet off to Vegas, and Mooch would give us another lecture about eating fatty foods.

In the meanwhile, everyone in the South, Southwest, and flyover country would be shooting those fuckers out of the skies.  And having incredible calamari feasts.

113 Seamus, it comes from the lines you had to stand in long ago, and be checked, cough, cough.

Gah.  So hungry now.

120 A Facebook friend shared his experience swimming in the azure waters off the coast of Moreau and being very afraid of the Rays in the water. I explained that the Charles Ray is blind and mostly docile while the Lewis Ray, when agitated, can be swift, deadly, and lethal. People haven't really caught on to what I've done yet and are discussing the different types of Rays and whether they are dangerous or not. I kill myself sometimes.

Mrs. Muldoon just commented to me that weasels aren't nearly  as funny as squids!

I concur.

124 I always went to the SF medic. Stitches, shots, regular stuff, they were the best. No lines, no paper work. Course, when I retired, I wish I had the paper work.

126 A cuddly flying squid would be a flesh light, No?

Posted by: CSMBigBird at February 11, 2013 04:54 PM (6IKyK)

127 Yeah, but the squids have starring roles in tentacle porn. With hot anime chicks.

Weasels? Maybe a bit part in exploring Richard Gere's alimentary tract.

I saw a pine marten run across the road in front of my vehicle a couple of months ago. Pretty little animals, but reclusive.

133 Fossa:  a lemur's worst nightmare.

Posted by: TOF at February 11, 2013 06:25 PM (2Aw0E)

134 Anatomically speaking, a fossa is a depression or hole in a bone.

Posted by: tired at February 11, 2013 08:16 PM (adOUE)

135 Several decades ago, fossas were classified as cats. They were removed from that family because they walk flat-footed, like bears, rather than on their toes. I think they were put into the bear's family at the time, whatever that's called. They've probably been moved somewhere else since then.
