Fox: Eric Holder Recuses Himself from AP Wiretap Scandal Investigation
— Ace

I say "wiretap" but I don't mean recording conversations, but registering phone calls made and received.

Just saw it breaking, via @allahpundit. Townhall has a brief.

Attorney General Eric Holder has recused himself from the Associated Press leak investigation. He will officially announce his recusal at a press conference Tuesday afternoon. Fox News is reporting his recusal comes partially because Holder has testified about potential national security leaks surrounding a May 7, 2012 Associated Press story.

I'm curious why he even has to recuse himself in the first place not that he should be involved, but isn't this the reason we have Inspector Generals and the like, to ensure that investigations of this nature are looked at by someone not possibly involved?

Of course, Benghazi (all the events leading up to, and the actions specifically not taken the night of 9/11) required the direct approval of the Secretary of State and Commander-in-Chief.  So that probably doesn't mean anything as far as being held responsible goes.

61 This adminstration came into office sure they had at least six years ahead of them with no oversight.  They expected to have the bureaucracy (which the left mostly does even under GOP administrations), all of Congress, a chance to take the Supreme Court.

They'd be able to do whatever they wanted - no matter how sloppily, how corrupt, how unethical, how illegal - until at least the midterms of Obama's second term and maybe longer.  By then it wouldn't matter because the leftist agenda would all be chiseled into law and policy so deeply that it'd take a decade or more to sandblast it out.   So steamrolling the opposition fast and hard became much more important than dotting i's and crossing t's and obeying silly laws or complying with fatuous regulations.

89 In regards to all these scandals where government folks basically paid no heed to regs or laws that said "you can't do that": So I'm sitting here in a public space doing some work, and there is a gent nearby interviewing folks, and he asked "so where are you from?", making small talk in a pleasant way, and it occured to me that this could conceivably be viewed as a question you might not be able to ask in an interview (lest you be open yourself up to discrimination charges), and it reiterated my belief that hiring and interviewing folks can be hazardous, because "disparate impact" can be the functional same as "he's a witch"--and then I thought of all these current scandals, and I thus was once again was confirmed in my belief that a government that every so often arbitrarily punishes you for failure to avoid any possible conceivable infringement of the law (lest you molest its friends or beliefs) while at the same time acting as if its own writ of power is unlimited (lest it not molest its "enemies" and help its "friends") is one in which a tyrannical nature will eventual become instinctual, assuming it is not already. Americans already live under too large of a blizzard of "thou shall" and "that shalt not" Executive Branch regulations for the minions of the Executive Branch to think what they are doing, vis a vis simply not following the idea that there are limits that they must adhere too, is not going to leave a mark on the public consciousness. Americans are not yet serfs, and will not ratify the concept.

113 "Mr. Carney, is it not true that the job of the President of the United States is to be the chief executive officer of the federal government? And as such, is it not the responsibility of that chief executive to keep himself informed of the operations of that government? Can you explain the President's consistent inability to perform the basic tasks of his position?"

114 And now a word from the NAACP:

"Former chairman of the NAACP Julian Bond said it was Â“perfectly legitimate” for the Internal Revenue Service to target tea-party groups because they are “the Taliban wing of American politics.”

Ironically, targeting the Taliban is not perfectly legitimate.

127 Basically, as I think about this last week--if the glory of the Romans was the law and order they brought, then the glory of the Anglo-American world, when all is said and done, will be the concept of a government restrained by as rigid of a system of rules as the one imposed upon the people, that mere possessing power was not sufficient enough justification to act as one desired. I submit that the Barack Obama administration is making a mockery of this highest accomplishment of millennia of Anglo-Saxon/American legal development.

Btw.  What's happening  with the immigration bill.  It's kind of been out of the news since all of this started.   We shouldn't be focused totally on  scandels.  There's other shit-piles we don't want  to step in also.

I'm sure the likes of Schumer, McCain, Rubio and the shitweasels like them are enjoying our distraction.
