— Ace Guess.
He's confessed to the stabbing. He's an Islamic convert, described as a traditionalist or a radical. He was seen praying just before the attack. This prayer -- which I believe was bowing towards Mecca -- was seen on videotape, as the attack occurred in a train station, well surveilled.
So of course the Interior Minister said:
“I cannot talk about radical Islam."

As I noted before, when government functionaries say things like the above, or variants such as "It's too early to speculate," or "We can't rush to conclusions about motivation," that is dogwhistle talk.
The dogwhistle is this: "I know, and all of you know, that this is yet another jihadi terror attack. But I can't say so openly without having the diversity commissars land on me like a ton of bricks and ruining my career. So I am resorting to this widely understood circumlocution instead."

So why are the elites effetes so reluctant to call a spade a spade?
1. Fear of inciting religious civil war
2. Fear of alienating oil-rich Middle Eastern states
3. Alliance with the Left (anyone who opposes Western civ is my friend)
4. Keep the population in fear and you keep them under control
5. They all got the same briefing that said, basically, the Muzzies do the jobs the Europeans won't do and the economy will collapse for lack of white babies and unskilled labor.
6. Fear for their own miserable hides (e.g., same reason they would publish the Mohammad cartoons).

That was the original intent of the mass importation of Muslims, anyway.
Everyone looked at what the Germans did with _gastarbeiter_ Turks to offset West Germany's postwar labor shortage, and figured it was a brilliant idea they should copy.
Except they made a mistake in assuming that all Muslims were of sensibilities regarding work similar to that of the Turkish guest workers, and man, was that ever wrong.
All over Europe now, the welfare rolls have exploded with Muslims who have gotten plugged into those very cozy Euro welfare state benefits and are cranking out huge families of little Mohammeds on the dole. Imams at the mosque quite openly justify such gaming of the system as "jizya", which is the tribute that Christians and Jews are required to pay to the Islamic faithful in Islamic countries.
This won't end well.

I'd say there are a few reasons: first, they are running out of born and bred people that will willingly blow themselves up/otherwise perpetrate attacks; second, despite the continuing relative ease of crossing borders, it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to smuggle the useful idiots needed across borders; third, we're seeing a tactical change validated by Boston in which huge attacks like 9/11 are not needed and are much more difficult to pull off from both a logistical standpoint as well as due to the mass of intelligence and LE resources being directed against such attacks...they've changed from "swinging for the fence" to playing "small ball"...the new strategy is death by a thousand cuts.

He revealed on the Hannity show that despite assurances from the Treasury Department and the White House that the IRS had stopped subjecting tea party groups to special scrutiny in 2012, his office received a letter addressed to one of his clients ‘on May 6 of this year from the IRS, asking for responses to intrusive questions.’

I saw one fully veiled "woman" in RER train station in Paris last weekend. I know it is against the law, and wanted to pull a Gomer Pyle "citizen's arrest" and yank it off. Husband saw what I was doing (staring and watching with umbrella weapon at ready) and took my hand and led me away. They really piss me off #crankyChristyBwithjetlag
It is almost irreparable in some areas of Europe, this Islamo creeping Sharia has crept in and laid an egg in the heart of their freedom. I read Mark Steyn's book years ago, and he has been spot on. There have been, for years, areas of Paris, other cities in France and Belgium, city blocks of the cities, controlled by Sharia law as they buy property, breed like rabbits in polygamy, and, by voting bloc, elect their own into the government. France, per Mark Steyn's book, will be the first country to fall to Sharia. The police won't even go into these areas controlled by this "peaceful religion" even if you wander in by mistake and need them, which is why I stick to normal tourist districts. Saying that, I did not want to go there this year, but at the persuasion of son and dtr-in-law as we were going to be in the UK and Bruges, Belgium, went and did a few things I wanted and generally had a good time. Considering I looked like a bag-lady with TB, people left me the heck alone and/or I did not care or worry as I was nearly dead from plague anyway. At any rate, no problems, but I think it is my last trip to Europe. C'est la vie. As I have said before, the Parisians were nicer a decade ago when I was there, and they have no patience for your patois French and immediately speak to you in English---this did not happen on my last visit.
In Monmartre, area of Sacre Coeur which I have never wanted to visit in the past, but did last weekend because family wanted to, has always been known for pickpockets and, in past, "gypsies." Now it is "N. Africans." They accost you in line, try to tie a "friendship bracelet on your hand" and then demand money at the bottom of the stairs. We four said "NON!" to them, they said some Lion King garbage of peace (seriously, I had to ask son what that was about), and then moved on to the rest. No police in sight in entire area where crime occurs...as that would make too much sense! I was prepared with my "LEAVE ME ALONE" in French but did not use it.
The police in Paris? You could find them in riot gear stewing about the 200,000 Catholics marching peacefully as families against gay marriage and adoption. They were in subways, looking menacing and stuff, but, I am sure, not looking for man who sliced and diced the cop who is mentioned here. I am glad they found the bastard.

Unfortunately both empires had just emerged from a long and costly war between themselves and didn't take the early Muzzie threat seriously enough
Even the areas the muslims captured didn't really take them seriously and expected the occupation to be pretty short, hence all the stuff you read about the Muslims being hailed as liberators - the areas the Byzantines had just recaptured were upset about high taxes and were happy to poke their finger in Constantinople's eye. Once they realized that the Muslims weren't going anywhere and what "dhimmi" really meant they changed their tune.

Those Scandi yutes would certainly like to expand their playground to suburban Paris, where the government would rather be talking about anything else than rad-slam (gay marriage anyone? how about taxing the 1%?).
Personally, I'd almost like to see what Hollande would do if that were to happen, and the French yutes (of indeterminate religious persuasion) were to actually kick off some car torchings and other assorted mayhem.
Well, OK, what I'd really like to do is get a bet down early that he wouldn't do much of anything. Make some money out this mess....
