"French soldier stabbed while on patrol near Paris"

I copied Reuters' headline directly. They make it sound like just another day at the office, don't they?

A police union spokesman said surveillance footage of the attacker showed him as tall and bearded, aged about 35, possibly of North African origin and wearing a white Arab-style tunic.

Beard? North African? Arab-style tunic? I don't know about you, but if I were a criminal profiler, I might flag the suspect as a member of the Euro-Tea Party. Or it may possibly have been one of those damned Lutherans ... they're known for doing stuff like this all the time.

Three days after a British soldier was killed in a London street by two men who said they acted to avenge violence against Muslims, the attack near Paris raised questions about a possible copycat attempt to kill a French soldier.

Interior Minister Manuel Valls noted the similarity in an interview on France 2 TV saying the attacker was clearly trying to murder his victim, but he added that it was too early to offer any theories.

"Let's be prudent for now," Valls said of the attacker's identity and motivations. "Everything is being done to arrest this individual."

Yes, yes. Let's be prudent. Mustn't leap to any conclusions.

The psychology of Muzzies is a   form of what they consider "hypermasculinity."  I've spent time amongst them, I know. If they were to have their asses  kicked and kicked well, like they need, they wouldn't be doing this crap.

Postmodernism's "ground zero" is definitely France, though. That it spread to the weak-minded in other countries isn't a surprise, but it could have been strangled in the cradle in France only, because that's where it was born.


WWI was definitely a devastating blow for Europe. Still, that was nearly 100 years ago. For them to still be impacted by it is ridiculous, especially since none of the problems they face now are analogous to the problems they faced then. They also tend to be pretty pacifistic these days. But getting back to World War I, it's not too hard to see how so many Europeans accepted the "all war is useless, pointless, and wrong" mindset. That war had to have scarred the European psyche. It was the closest thing to "mutually assured destruction" short of a nuclear exchange. My own father joined the Navy as soon as the draft was started in 1940. I don't know for a fact, but I suspect he heard stories about the horrors of trench warfare and wanted no part of the Army. I'm pretty sure he thought he would be safer in the Navy. Ironically, he ended up going for a swim in the Coral Sea a couple years later.

The French:

I worked for  French company, visited the country (Paris) a bunch of times, and have friends who are French.  They aren't ALL lazy, but that is a good description of appearances.  And postmodern deconstructionism , born in France, has now reaped tangible real world results,  and has broken the intellectual 'spirit' of a proud people. They themselves don't quite realize that  (although some do) and it would be bad manners to talk like that among the ruling elite.  All the people that "rule" France pretty much went to the same school,  Ecole Polytechnique, and regardless if they are "left" or "right", think about the same way.

 

This political uprising against gay marriage  (based on the strength of Catholicism in France) was pretty unexpected from the Elites, but it may or may not be the last cultural gasp of the old order, which has been under assault for generations.

 

Rickl is right though:  WWI ,  the Great War, broke much of Europe (and especially France) in a spiritual and moral way.    I don't think anyone of us can grasp the destruction and carnage wrought by that war, and how it destroyed the political and social way of life that was so positive and optimistic about the future just a few years before.  After the Great War, French youth was taught to "Give way" and avoid aggression, to avoid another episode of carnage like WWI.  And they did, and were conquered in a matter of weeks by the German Blitzkrieg, and suffered under occupation for years  (but were not slaughtered and a lot were collaborators), were grateful for Anglo-American liberation, and have never forgiven us for it since.  If you ever visit Paris and Les Invalides where Napolean is entombed, you would think that the French liberated themselves from the Germans in WWII.

 

And the French Resistance, the Maquis, were largely communists and playing for ruling the New France after the Germans were driven out.  If you think you hated DeGaulle, you should imagine just how bad it might have been without him and the Marshall Plan. And DeGaulle and the Free French Army would have been nothing if the Americans had not equipped them.

 

My uncle, who was in 3rd Army in WWII, hated the French and still hates them (still alive today at 89).  His father also fought in France in the Great War, and didn't care for the French either.  The difference between my Grandfather and my Uncle is that my Grandfather had some admiration for the Germans as soldiers and people, and my Uncle saw at least one of the concentration camps in Germany and hates the Germans too.

293 Lizzy- I really do not wish to see marvels disappear like Notre Dame. My family was French Huguenot. That were chased out for fear of losing their lives because they were protestant. We don't carry a grudge for 300 years, but the French have done very little to warrant our continuned interest. The cathedral is only a building. We still have the Roman Coliseum, but no Romans, unless you count Italians.

A world of difference between a standing historic building (visited and valued for its place in history) vs.having it used by them to rub the French peoples' noses in their defeat (and as a message to the rest of the West). This is what they do, and have done, for so very long. I wasn't attempting to diminish what happened with your family or any personal ill will you may have for France.
