Fresh Thread - [Niedermeyer's Dead Horse]
— Open Blogger

From RD Brewer at Twitter, it looks like someone ticked off the lighting crew.

I don't even care if it's real, it's crafty.

And something more in keeping with the spirit of giving, Homefront Hugs is trying to raise money to send hand warmers to the troops. Pitch in if you can. As well, they need volunteers to correspond with the troops.

Thanks.

As children we didn't care that the unwrapped Christmas candy in our Christmas sock was inevitably covered with a thick layer of lint. Today it would be considered roughage. and, oops someone forgot to buy the batteries for the new fangled toys. No problem, days later when the batteries finally materialized, you had to figure out why those little army men were in the doll house and why the easy-bake oven was full of play-dough.

94 Gah. I have to take another break from wrapping. The thing that makes me unChristmassy-cranky about wrapping is that, no matter how many boxes you have, everything you want to wrap is either too big or too small for the boxes. Then you cut the paper for a present and have a nice piece left over. Nice? Did I say nice? NO. It's never nice. It's always just a teeny-tiny bit too small for the next thing you have to wrap.

102 100 Is this " The View " thread ?

Lotta chix on here.

Do you chix like my uni-sex glasses ?

It is my opinion that all hipster glasses should be rounded up and melted down. It is your choice if you're still attached to the glasses when I throw them into the fire.

105 101 --- Good tip. With enough nog, I suspect I wouldn't care if the paper is half an inch too small or whether the ribbon really matches. Yeah, I guess I should take your suggestion before they make it illegal to drink and wield scissors. CUI.

I hate wrapping gifts - the gift bag is a wonderful invention, but somehow it doesn't seem right for Christmas. I've learned my lesson. Now I wrap gifts as soon as I get them them home, or else I'm cursing and swearing on Dec. 24 and wrapping the last few gifts any old damn way, because I reason "Hey, this paper is going to come off in 5 seconds anyway - an 8 year old boy is not going to be admiring how beautifully you wrapped up the Legos box."

Lesson for next year -NEVER order the gift-wrap option when you buy a gift on Amazon. I did it with a gift for my brother. I got a plain box with a piece of ribbon around it. I paid $4 for that.

107 My son still wants to see his grandmother and crazy aunts and uncles and cousins.

I don't blame him, because he's young and has missed out on most of the family drama, except his evil oldest female cousin telling him on the eve of his deployment, "I just want you to know I don't support your service.  Are you going to enjoy killing people?"

My husband's parents didn't believe our son.  We did.

Anyhow, he knows who the enemies are in the family, but loves the kinder cousins.

I'll be along to deliver the "showcase cake" and whatever else.

In the meantime, our doorbell rang a few minutes ago, and there's the tall, strapping private school buddy/bff.  The buddy has a sweet job in finance with Caesar's Palace in Vegas.

Gave him D'oh Boy's number (he's sleeping over on Tybee with brothers and their divorced dad.)

In the meantime, I exchanged numbers for their iPhones.

Will be interesting how they will connect.

Pooky would probably tell her, "Yes, I will! Anyone in particular you want me to kill to protect your freedom? I'm taking requests!" *grin*

115 You know, I had a pair of those hipster glasses. Just about 40 years ago. Can't tell you how many pairs have been thrown away because when I see a newdnik wearing them, I get out a picture of Me Back Then to show how cool they are.

Just another service I have offered the nation. Everyone is an example; some of us are good ones, but both kinds can work.

Can he see them at another holiday besides Christmas? Look, I only know you from this site and I don't know the inner dynamics of your family - crap, I don't know the inner dynamics of MY family! I just hate to see someone gritting her teeth and having a miserable time at Christmas because of crappy inlaws. You wouldn't mind the drive there if these were people you wanted to see.

118 106 --- Good tips. (Seriously!) I've been tempted by the Amazon gift wrap but I guess it's fortunate that I didn't go for it. I'm surprised they would be so chintzy for $4.

119 Hey NDH Baseball analogy, you're a great middle reliever, you're called in with the bases loaded and retire the side. I'm sure hope that the team and the closer appreciate it.

120 Son is anxious to meet up with the buddy who came to our door.  He finished college and is a financial manager of Caesars in Vegas.  Will be interesting to see those two together after four years.  God, he used to look like a kid and now he's a tall, handsome, preppy man.

The meet-up should be...interesting.

To My Democrat Friends:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.
