— andy Ace was talking about this excellent song on Twitter. It may possibly be the #1 hit of the '80s.
Kidding of course. What a piece of crap that is.
"Abracadabra" is now only the 2nd most horrifying thing associated with the name Steve Miller

Oye como va.
Literally, "Listen how it goes."
And I like that song, but mostly because I played Tuba and the tuba part was something other than the basic "oomp-pa, oomp-pa."
Of course, if you're looking for songs to make your eyes bleed- Macarena.

Well then it failed...because disco didn't die.
It's still around, but now it's called 'Techno Dance' or 'Electronica' or 'Trance' music.
I still stand by my assertion that more puke has been hurled during the playing of "My Sharona" than any other song...since it was the number one college drinking song for long time.

It's still around, but now it's called 'Techno Dance' or 'Electronica' or 'Trance' music.
I still stand by my assertion that more puke has been hurled during the playing of "My Sharona" than any other song...since it was the number one college drinking song for long time.

Terrible song made even worse by the horse-faced skanks on "Sex & the City" reusing it in the 21st century.

Man goes to his doctor. "Doc, you have to help me, every waking moment I have this uncontrollable urge to sing What's New Pussycat. I can't control myself and it's really embarassing. "

You can't put novelty songs into a pop/rock 'worst song' category. Pretty soon you'd be inundated with votes for songs like 'Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah' and 'The Cockroach That Ate Cincinnati', which isn't really fair since some of them (most of them) were meant to be bad.

True story: my stepbrother owns a custom glass window business in Nashville TN. One day he's overseeing his crew's first day on a new job and notices that the owner of the (very nice large) house is a musician. He sees one of the records on the wall, says to owner, 'Oh, you were in Bread?'
Owner says, deadpan, 'No, neither of my parents are related.'

I've seen "Seasons in the Sun" mentioned here a few times. Hate that song too, but when I was a kid, my mom almost died laughing once when she found me picking grubs out of the yard, flicking them into the middle of the street, and singing "we had joy, we had fun, now we're writhing in the sun".

#609: Actually, the song was written and first performed by a man. And he was singing about a woman. Hence the prevalence of "you're so pretty" in the chorus.

Lol, I was wondering how long it would take!
Sucky songs are *usually* sucky because they were played to death and/or we went thru horrible times when we heard them, IMHO.
Lyrics are poetry. Yes, some are obvious, thus boring, yet they all tell us something about the times and writer/performer.

#685: Reminds me of Winds Of Change by The Scorpions. I initially liked the song, but after several months of hearing it three or four times an hour on all the local radio stations (including the country, Spanish and sports stations), I grew to despise it.

Now, this was early in the music video scene, so it might not seem all that terrible today. But when it was released, it was bad enough to wreck the career of an excellent musician. At least, that's what he says, and I think he's probably right.
The song itself is, well, somewhere in the neighborhood of mediocre. Still, it's a disappointment coming from the guy who created this...

Soulful and catchy, with beautiful lyrics. They just don't make music like that anymore. Rock Me Tonite may not be the worst song ever, but I think it's at least a solid contender for Most Disappointing.
