Fun New Meme: The "In the Way Guy"
— Ace

A guy proposed to his gal on bended knee. He'd hoped for a memento that would last a lifetime, but a guy walked right in front of the shot at the key moment:

So he put the picture online, saying, "tried to get a photo of our proposalÂ…nailed it!" The picture went viral-ish.

The Meme-Generating Community has taken the In the Way Guy to be the next The Tourist Guy, and is doing all sorts of funny photoshops. More here.

And Late Afternoon Open Thread. I've got a migraine and the computer screen is hurting my eyes and head. I should be back but would like to take a break.

14 Fun Nascar race at 7 pm on Speed channel. It's a dirt race at Eldora Speedway. It's Trucks race. First time any Nascar series has raced on dirt in 40 years. Should be a fun time. Probably a wreckfest cause most of the guys have no dirt racing experience. Some dirt-racing ringers also get to have their only Nascar race, too, so that's fun for them. Eldora is the premiere dirt track in America. Should be a fun race if likely chaotic. I'm betting on Kyle Larson the new wunderkind.

You are strong in the ways of matrimony-fu.

At my son's wedding a few weeks ago, the DJ asked all couples to come up and dance. Once everyone was on the dance floor, he asked all unmarried couples to leave the floor. Then he asked all those married for less than five years to leave the floor. Then ten years, then fifteen, then twenty. That left my wife and I, and another couple we've known for years on the floor. The DJ announced twenty five years, and I and my bride had to leave the floor.

That left one couple on the floor. DJ called out 30 years, then 35, then 40, then 45, and finally asked them how long they'd been married.....51 years. Richard and Caroline...still living in the same house they shared on their wedding night. Pretty damned amazing.

225 Weiner is truly the poster child for women being interested in the power.  If he were not a former congressman, in a new york bar, he wouldn't get a second look, might not even get a first.  He'd have been a matchmakers dream client for all the girls with a good heart.

230 I didn't actually get to propose to my (second) wife. We were going over to my parent's house for a dinner, where I had planned to propose, and I had made the grave mistake of telling my 8 and 5 year old daughters that I was going to be proposing to her when we got there. They went ahead and told her about it in the car on the way over. It is a miracle that the two of them survived to get a day older.

I was thinking that when the sharks start flying through the air in "Sharknado 2," Canseco quickly shoots himself up with steroids, picks up a Louisville Slugger, and starts swinging at the incoming flying sharks, driving the ones he hits 500-plus feet into the ocean. The movie then ends with him banging an aged Madonna, who during the banging transforms into Roy Scheider.

235 My boyfriend (now husband) mentioned marriage after a year of on/off/on/off and no reason except sowing his oats or whatever he was doing (we were young college kids). Actually, this was sort of seasonal, his freak-outs that he was serious about me and needed to see other people or whatever...he was quite the lady's man, so his family tells me...I was the first he brought home for dinner, a redneck princess to a Long Island family---what could go wrong?).

One night, during an on season and our last season, he was out with one of his friends as I studied for a test. He came back to my apartment a bit sentimental and mentioned marriage. I calmly told him to ask me in a year and I would think about it, as he was not going to mess with my head anymore and I had one semester left of school. Less than a year later we were engaged. Romantic, no? I have to say he has been a good husband and daddy, so he was worth it, unsentimental as our courtship was. As soon as he knew I was moving on with life, with or without him, he got pretty serious about me.
