Fun YouTube Game
— Ace

Via Nice Deb, try this:

1. Open any YouTube video.

2. Pause it. After pausing, click a blank area on the side of the webpage.

3. Type 1980. This is tricky: Don't type it in the URL bar or the YouTube search bar. Just type into your keyboard. The letters won't actually show up onscreen.

4. Enjoy.

It seems to work worst in FireFox (and may not work at all) and easiest in Chrome.

Thanks to weft-cut loop for specifying "put your arrow on a blank area outside of the video box."

17 Yeah, missile command. I mark it as a typical liberal asshole mockery of Ronald Regan's SDI program mocked by such fuckwits as Ted Kennedy as "Star Wars." Missile interception was heavily supported by Edward Teller and the Soviets were in fact convinced we could do it. A lot of people credit the SDI program with forcing the Soviets to the negotiating table, and eventually walking us back from the specter of nuclear exchange. Ronald Reagan was a fucking Genius.

154 I don't think I could live my life the way you do, always "on" and thinking only politically. As I pointed out, Missile Command was released in 1980 -- before Reagan was elected. And SDI didn't even get proposed until 1983 or 1984, something like that. Not everything is part of the global conspiracy against your own brand of arch-conservatism. Posted by: Jeff B. at August 15, 2013 01:29 PM (n/+FT) And what does the actual history have to do with it? So Missile Command came out before Reagan proposed his program. A Young Liberal writing code for Youtube may either not know that or not give a shit. "Reagan is associated with Star Wars? Good enough!" The closest game to mocking SDI is Missile Command. 20 something year olds probably don't care about sequence of history. As I recall, you didn't do so good last time you challenged one of my predictions. In the Span of a Week, THREE examples of Forced indoctrination in Schools occurred, and you had to walk back your earlier argument.

Those three albums still sound modern, and have had an incalculable influence on modern art-rock, from Slint and Tortoise to Radiohead and every post-rock or art-rock group from the '90s onward.

216 Spirit Of Eden Everyone is always telling me what a classic that album is. I was severely disappointed when I finally got around to buying it. Sarah Palin using target symbols on Democrat Seats is conflated to be an inspiration for violence. The nonsensical "Mr. Makaka" is conflated into a Racial slur. Their typical modus operandi is to force us to defend any and all of our actions against their morally heinous accusations. So what's wrong with making THEM defend themselves? What's wrong with reading every move THEY make as consisting of some sort of "Dog Whistle" ? What is wrong with putting THEM on the defensive by deliberately construing everything they do as an attack against us? Alinsky tactics work. They just do.

So what's wrong with making THEM defend themselves? What's wrong with
reading every move THEY make as consisting of some sort of "Dog Whistle"
?

Because even if it WERE some form of mockery,   it's a lot easier (and more galling to them) to say, "Hey guys, this is really fun!   Great idea!"

Leaves them  gobsmacked and disoriented.   "But... you're supposed to be angry...?"

I'll      save my outrage    for the     clear   and present dogwhistles that they sneak in everywhere else.       Like on last night's   "Royal Pains," when they had the brother running for some elected position, and one of the questions was, "Do you favor banning plastic bags."   And his response was essentially,  "Yes, because    environment."

I've seen so many articles and commentary on it over the years that I now simply take it for granted that if it has a Google connection, it's liberal revisionist crap.   I think Ace has done some articles regarding how Google puts little commentary into their Logo when they change it from time to time on their search engine.

The Google logo thing is primarily a "crime" of omission.    They'll celebrate the birthdays of obscure historical figures by showcasing a special Google Doodle, but they generally skip Veteran's day and Easter/Christmas for any type of recognition.

Free speech and all, but it shows how the company has a "world citizen" culture.

It also makes this particular Doodle special.

322 CAIRO — Egyptian authorities have authorized police to use deadly force to protect themselves and key state institutions from attacks. The Interior Ministry, which is in charge of national security, says in a statement Thursday that the new measures come after supporters of the deposed Islamist president torched two local government buildings in the city of Giza, home to the famed pyramids. Egypt's military-backed government also pledged to confront "terrorist actions and sabotage" allegedly carried out by members of former President Mohammed Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood group. In a long, wide-ranging article taking up three pages of Communist Party newspaper Granma, Castro, whose birthday was Tuesday, wrote about being stricken with a near-fatal intestinal ailment on July 26, 2006. "As soon as I understood that it would be definitive I did not hesitate to cease my charges as president ... and I proposed that the person designated to exercise that task proceed immediately to take it up," the retired leader said, referring to his successor and younger brother Raul Castro. AP In this Feb. 3, 2013 file photo, Cuba's Fidel Castro talks to reporters at a polling station after casting his ballot in parliament elections in Havana, Cuba. Castro says he never imagined when grave illness forced him from office in 2006 that he would still be alive seven years later. It's a thing in that they're making progress on the technology, but it's not a thing in that young 20s liberals aren't going to be thinking much about SDI as something to criticize (which predates their birth).

Sure, their liberal indoctrination might have them spew some crap about Reagan and the SDI program if prompted, but they're generally going to be more concerned with being hip and cool, not concerned with the issues of a dead white guy.

First off, you put too much faith in "college educated."

Second, Reagan didn't become    President till 1981.

Third, retro is "hip," and most of the leftwing coding geeks I've ever encountered are hipsters through and through.  They'd program the game into the code as an ironic statement of "old school    gaming"    meeting "new school technology."

372 As Egypt descends into chaos, President Obama is facing increasing criticism that an "incoherent" policy toward the country -- much like U.S. policy toward Syria -- is putting U.S. money and influence on the line without a clear end-game. The Obama administration claims to be staying neutral in the violent confrontation between the military-backed government and Muslim Brotherhood supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi. More than 500 people have been killed so far across the country. "America cannot determine the future of Egypt," Obama said Thursday, in brief remarks from Martha's Vineyard, where he's vacationing, as he appealed for calm and condemned the violence. Yet the administration is sending mixed signals. While the president directly spoke out against the military-backed government on Thursday -- and canceled upcoming joint military exercises -- the U.S. has refused to label Morsi's ouster a coup. That means, under U.S. law, the administration can continue to send $1.5 billion in annual aid to the Egyptian government. The mixed signals raise concern that the U.S. is simply breeding distrust on both sides. The argument in favor of aid is that it helps secure U.S. influence in Cairo, which is critical not only to Mideast stability but also the security of U.S. ally Israel. Yet the crackdown this week showed U.S. influence with the Egyptian military is waning, analysts warned. A wave of phone calls from top administration officials to their counterparts in Cairo, as well as an unconventional delegation of U.S. lawmakers to the country, did not quell the unrest. "While President Obama 'condemns the violence in Egypt,' his administration continues to send billions of taxpayer dollars to help pay for it," Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said in a statement on Thursday. John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. under the George W. Bush administration, called the current policy "completely incoherent." Fox News: Incoherent is the least of it

If that's the case, I get it (don't agree but get it) but why fuss about a silly easter egg either way? Posted by: Jenny Hates That Song at August 15, 2013 02:38 PM (GmTxn) It has been demonstrated that their usage of "Missile Command" and "1980" are likely innocuous and not thinly veiled mockery of Reagan. My intent was to note that this may very well be just another Propaganda attack on the Philosophical structure of Conservatism as personified in Reagan. It has long been a Liberal tactic to mock and malign Reagan and I have come to expect it routinely. Would I expect people to stop using youtube? Not at all. That is not a realistic expectation. I just expect people to be aware that much of the people in control of our Electronic/Software infrastructure Hate our ideas, hate their history, and hate us. We need alternatives. We need to make them ourselves if we have to.
