— Ace Via Nice Deb, try this:
1. Open any YouTube video.
2. Pause it. After pausing, click a blank area on the side of the webpage.
3. Type 1980. This is tricky: Don't type it in the URL bar or the YouTube search bar. Just type into your keyboard. The letters won't actually show up onscreen.
4. Enjoy.
It seems to work worst in FireFox (and may not work at all) and easiest in Chrome.
Thanks to weft-cut loop for specifying "put your arrow on a blank area outside of the video box."

It doesn't have to be "1980" -- Any series of numbers will advace or rewind the video. I slowly typed 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 and advanced across the video until 0 which returned to the start.

sigh.
Missile Command was released in 1980 before Reagan was elected, and well before he proposed the Star Wars defense in 1983.

I don't think I could live my life the way you do, always "on" and thinking only politically. As I pointed out, Missile Command was released in 1980 -- before Reagan was elected. SDI didn't exist until 1983. Missile Command was designed based on nightmares the programmer had about the Soviets nuking California. Period. Atari at that time wasn't political; they were all stoned 24-7-365 because that was the only way to understand the primitive hardware.
Posted by: Ian S. at August 15, 2013 09:36 AM (OevbG)
That Missile command was released in 1980 does not make it unconnected with Reagan after the fact.
Among Liberals, one of their most common criticisms of Reagan was his Star Wars program. Reagan is Heavily associated with this program in their minds.
Since he took office in 1980, a Liberal wanting to mock him for the SDI program could have picked the Missile Command game to do it. Is there another video game out there more closely associated with the "Star Wars" missile program?
Nothing comes to my mind.
As far as affronts everywhere, that is what I see. Have you seen the crap they pull with the Google Logo?

I remember the flash cut to the tarantula, the guy getting into a fistfight in the middle of a construction zone, and...doesn't it end with him jumping off a building or something?

Jon is doing fine - saw him last summer (lives near SLO in CA). Working with Rabin and Wakeman on album. Rest of band that dumped him now have singer from Glass Hammer and are going in to studio for new album in fall.
Squire and Hackett did album together called Squackett. Meh.

Talk Talk may be one of the most underrated bands in rock history, but it's not because of their early (more famous in America) new-wave stuff like "Talk Talk" and "It's My Life."
Get on your knees so Sabrina can see your ass.
It's for the later post-rock stuff like The Colour Of Spring (1986), Spirit Of Eden (198 and Laughing Stock (1992).
Don't just look at it, Sabrina. Eat it.
Those three albums still sound modern, and have had an incalculable influence on modern art-rock, from Slint and Tortoise to Radiohead and every post-rock or art-rock group from the '90s onward.

I'm going to reveal my prog-nerd credentials by pointing out that this was in fact the full band Yes, and not just Jon Anderson.
Yes were actually a pretty great band from 1969-1983, with two truly unfortunate blips (Tales From The Topographic Oceans, every bit as bad as its reputation, and the somehow even worse Tormato). Just don't try to pay any attention to the lyrics. You'll go crazy and your balls will shrivel up.

"'Punch-Out!!' was a virulently racist game propagated by cis-normative white males of significant means, designed to encourage young white boys to internalize the axiomatic belief that "the black man" is their primary enemy, and that they must utilize all their skill and ingenuity to ensure his defeat and ultimate ouster from the "ring" of society. This served as a metaphorical banishment of The Black Man to the uncelebrated "field" of anonymity.
They might as well have slapped a cotton jin on the cover and called it 'Send Mikey Back to the Plantation.'"

They did indeed. I'd still say that "Close To The Edge" (the title track) is the single best "sidelong song" ever written. I love the others ("Supper's Ready" by Genesis, "Bel Air" by Can, "Thick As A Brick" by Tull, etc.), but each of them has some down moments...not a wasted second on CTTE. The second half of that album isn't quite as impressive, but who cares?

So what's wrong with making THEM defend themselves? What's wrong with
reading every move THEY make as consisting of some sort of "Dog Whistle"
?
Because even if it WERE some form of mockery, it's a lot easier (and more galling to them) to say, "Hey guys, this is really fun! Great idea!"
Leaves them gobsmacked and disoriented. "But... you're supposed to be angry...?"
I'll save my outrage for the clear and present dogwhistles that they sneak in everywhere else. Like on last night's "Royal Pains," when they had the brother running for some elected position, and one of the questions was, "Do you favor banning plastic bags." And his response was essentially, "Yes, because environment."
*click!*

It's a thing in that they're making progress on the technology, but it's not a thing in that young 20s liberals aren't going to be thinking much about SDI as something to criticize (which predates their birth).
Sure, their liberal indoctrination might have them spew some crap about Reagan and the SDI program if prompted, but they're generally going to be more concerned with being hip and cool, not concerned with the issues of a dead white guy.

Dunno. I searched for AtC, and nothing came up. Now I'm hearing these weird whistles and clicking noises around the cube farm.

First off, you put too much faith in "college educated."
Second, Reagan didn't become President till 1981.
Third, retro is "hip," and most of the leftwing coding geeks I've ever encountered are hipsters through and through. They'd program the game into the code as an ironic statement of "old school gaming" meeting "new school technology."

And the raptors and emus get pissed when you make them run for their dinner.

The good news, though, is that with MWR turning off her cams, we now have the bandwidth to monitor the ones that AtC doesn.....*cough cough*
I totes read that as MWR turning off her 'cans.'

Why yes, yes it is. They even included a video of MWR in action as a reference.
Oooh. That's why she's an Assault Hobbit.

268 I thought it was a Timex/Sinclair...
Could explain a lot. When a page doesn't load completely, it might not be due to tired gerbils, but due to Pixy accidentally bumping the table and knocking the 16K RAM expansion pack out of alignment.
