Funny/Sad Report on Corey Feldman's Birthday Party
— Ace

A Vice reporter went Corey Feldman's birthday party -- which Feldman charged men $250 for the privilege of attending, though women and/or prostitutes could attend for free if they agreed to walk around in stripper lingerie for the entire night -- and was permitted to report on it, on the condition that Corey Feldman would have the power of final edit over the article.

No reporter should ever agree to let his subject edit his work, of course. But offered the opportunity to peek behind the scarlet curtains of the "Feldmansion" (as Feldman decrees his stately pleasure dome*), one can understand if the pillars holding up journalistic ethics might buckle and break beneath the pressure of Awesome.

Long story short: The reporter called Corey Feldman a total SadDouche. He did this by sarcasm. Instead of calling Feldman's party sad, weird, weird, and sad, he called it "f***ing awesome" with a little too much gusto.

So much gusto, in fact, that no one could possibly miss his intent to convey the opposite impression... No one, that is, except Corey Feldman himself, who seems to have been absent the day they taught "Come On, Dude!" in "Come On, Dude!" school.

Of all the sad parts of the short article, the piece's saddest passage is this one:

It's funny, weird, sad, and cruel. So read it if you want to read about the sad world of Corey Feldman, and also the dickish, abusive world of reporters who are sometimes smarter than their subjects and can thus exploit that inequality for purposes of communal humiliations.**

Content warning for lots of pictures of women in stripperish lingerie pretending to be excited to be at Corey Feldman's Feldmansion.

Corey Feldman has by now reacted angrily to the piece whose text he approved, accusing himself of slander and threatening to sue himself for defamation.

Actually, given the fact he blessed the text, he has shifted his anger to the "horrid pictures," which he claims were carefully culled in order to make an aging child star surrounded by strippers and charging his "friends" for admission appear to be pathetic. But I think in reality he's mad that he didn't catch the sarcastic tone of the piece, and he can't say "You tricked me and it wasn't even that hard to do!" because admitting that would be the final humiliation.

* Caveat: It's not a dome, does not appear stately, and the "pleasure" seems to come chiefly in the form of surprise Celebrity Guests such as DJs no one's ever heard of. And Ron Jeremy. Who I believe I once read will literally go anywhere he's invited if there is free food. (I really think I read that.)

** Not really a shot at this guy-- I would have done the same thing. In fact, I imitated his jokes in this post.

But that's sort of why I feel the pangs of shabbiness here -- because I personally would have enlisted myself into the cruelty and I don't think I would have let my conscience trouble me too much about it.

What the reporter did to Corey Feldman was unwarranted and mean and also just what I would have done, too.

At the end of the day, the dirty little open secret about humor is that an awful lot of it is grounded in cruelty and humiliation.

And this party, while not worth MY 250 shekels, is certainly worth it to the type of person who goes to a party that Corey Feldman would throw. 60 I don't think Feldman thinks his life is that awesome. He has revealed he was sexually abused as a boy in Hollywood, like I suspect lots of kids in Hollywood are. They just use the kids up and spit them out. And kids don't really have the maturity to consent or not to being in the Hollywood system. In that sense, he didn't choose to be a child star. So I'm not that ready to blame him for being screwed up now.

I recall seeing some clip of  'The Two Coreys'  where Corey Haim was trying to talk his way into his own bit role on the 'The Lost Boys' remake with Feldman.

 

To this day, I have yet to determine what is saddest.  Corey Haim's desperation to be in it, Corey Feldman pumped up over his own part but awkwardly trying to feel bad for Haim, or that I actually saw the clip.

I have to think the cameraman understood this, that using a flash (as opposed to a camera which can auto-adjust to lower light) was a way to make every look seedier, more pathetic, and more washed out. Corey Feldman used to be popular, back in the 1980s.  I bet there are articles about Corey Feldman, from his popularity era, which framed him as "cool" and "intelligent" when, in fact, due to both nature (IQ) and nurture (Hollywood University and advanced studies at the Michael Jackson Child Development Center), he is neither.  The guy is FUBAR but seems a genial sort and is still functioning without posing a threat to the rest of society.  Well, other than the threat that each and every one of us poses to the rest of society: embarrassing the hell out of the rest of us when your life is examined under a microscope.  Anyway, along comes this asshole "journalist" to, what, debunk the myth?  Really?  The 30 year old myth of Corey Feldman needs debunking?  No?  Then, what?  Vengeance for "The 'Burbs?"  A cautionary story on the importance of updating your hairstyle?  No, I'd say this is all about cultivating clicks.  There you are and I am at our little jobs.  We were never famous but at least we're not Corey Feldman!  Haha.  What a pretentious douchetool he is!  He didn't even see he was being set up!  He had his moment and he pissed it away.  Haha.  So satisfying.  Well, back to that LP-1023 report.

Of course a real "journalist," one interested in reporting news, e.g., NEW INFORMATION, would deconstruct a star who is actually currently popular instead of candyassing around with Corey Feldman, Lost Boy.

I have no clue.  I do not even use prescription pain drugs because of allergies.  But, as the MaryJane proponents claim it does soothe nausea and promote appetite.  OTOH, it is a gateway drug.  Most people in search of a serious high, leave pot behind as they move onto the heavy stuff.


I know the stuff about heroin because of reading about the effect that legalizing it has had on the economy of the Netherlands.  They now have a whole class of people who do nothing to contribute to the economy because they are high 24/7/365 on heroin.  They are on the dole.

Also, since legacy media reporters are part of the opposition, they ought to get their own opposition research.  When they do damaging stories, they ought to experience some damage themselves.  Do they have any DUIs?  Since the current generation of 20 somethings have photographed most of their young lives and posted a lot of it on line, it should be possible to find some photos of adolescent misbehavior, ill considered halloween costumes or poor sexual choices.  Each time a new youtube video of a reporter's bad behavior goes up, it will help lower the respect and credibility of the Democrat media establishment and that is a good thing.

I asked because I also know someone like that too.   He will go to Whole Foods or Fresh Market and buy all sorts of organic whatever food, and will have the gall to ask his guests to help pay for what they just ate.  He thinks he knows about food and wine, but really just gleans all that stuff from magazines or wikipedia.  No idea what he's talking about.

420 We have something of a problem here. Movies do, indeed, have parts that require little kids and teenagers. By definition, however, any parent who puts their children into that industry is 99.99% certain to be a parent that is so bad, they should be jailed. Feldman's life is a tragedy. Yeah, I get it... humor is often based on mocking the tragic, particularly when the tragic acts like this guy does. But that doesn't make it a tragedy. I see a great outcome ahead, don't you?
