— Gang of Gaming Morons! Quick post since with my birthday and Christmas shopping, it totally slipped my mind to write one. Sorry.
Steam sale started last week. After the first day, this sale has been lackluster like the last few years. That being said, I still ended up buying: Rogue Legacy, FFVII, Hammerwatch and Castlevania: LOS (don't ask about this one). What have you guys bought so far?
Venture Beat has two write ups on early sales for BF. An over all look at stuff (iPads, iPads everywhere). And they have a
Turn 10 is currently having a 50% sale on cars in Forza 5 (till the end of the day) as a stopgap so they can re-balance the ecosystem. Haven't run into a grind myself but good on them for acting on the feedback.
And for someone who watches a ton of eSport stuff, I totally forgot to mention last week that this weekend has two of the biggest tourneys of the year going on. You have DreamHack Winter and IEM going on. Some good games have been played so far. I'm bad for not mentioning this.
Only two new releases this week. The first episode of Broken Sword 5 (there are two parts) comes out on Tuesday. It's also coming out on iOS, Vita and Android but I haven't seen a release date for those versions yet.
And Gran Turismo 6 is also out this week. With the furor over Forza's micro-transactions, it will be curious if it's in this game as they announced a few months ago that it would.
Sorry about this week's post :/

On the upside, I played some Civ V. Heavily modded so the balance is all wrecked, but at least I have enough gold to build some units.

I've taken a bit of a break from it. But I am still on my first game. Definitely extensive and I kind of like feeling that I'm not being rushed with a "Finish the game by this year" condition.

If I see the complete edition at $10 or less, I'll pull the trigger, but after 3 100 hour games got eaten by my PS3, I'm not sinking much more money into that game.
Yes, I know that means I got a heck of a lot of gameplay for my sister's Christmas money a couple years back. I'm just kind of bitter about the bugginess.

Anything I need to be warned about on any of these games? I'm thinking more gameplay-related issues rather than political baggage, which I can usually roll my eyes at and ignore.

"Gears of War" is free to download today for Xbox 360 Gold members, through the 15th.
"Shoot Many Robots" will be available on the 16th.
I didn't like "Gears" when I first played it, but I'll re-try it at that price. I know nothing of "Shoot Many Robots".

I also like the fact that it's set in a big, open environment. You're contracted to map this big, dangerous forest, so if you like exploring stuff, you will enjoy this game.

It's a co-op superhero game, where you team up with other players to take down a major villain. It's really well-designed!
It's not a "collectible" card game in the usual sense; you can just buy full individual hero and villain decks. Villains scale based on the number of players.
Even if you're personally defeated, you still have some powers you can use while unconscious. You won't be coming back, but you can still contribute.
I played in four games, against four different villains; the heroes won two and lost two. Playing the same character in all four games, I got to play a huge part in one of our victories, but not such a big part in the other.
So, I'd have to say the game is very well-balanced. I highly recommend it if you're into board/card games.

Actually, you buy boxed sets which have a number of villain, environment, and hero decks. Only one hero, The Scholar, is available as an individual deck.

The main set sells for $40; it includes ten heroes, four villains, and four environments.
There are three expansions currently available for $20 apiece; each one has two heroes, four villains, and two environments.
And then you have those mini-expansions, which are single decks; two heroes and two villains at $5 apiece, and two environments at $4 apiece.

Bioshock Triple Pack for $14.99 at Amazon. The first game was incredible and the last game, (Infinite), seems very good. It is also downloadable through Steam.

I'll third that being a great game.
My BiL got to test drive his copy of King of Tokyo, which is Yahtzee with a giant monster twist. Was tons of fun, and it was hilarious when we ganged up on him to maintain his losing streak.

But aside from Super Mario World 3D some good games I've found for the WiiU:
-Wonderful 101 - Definitely a hardcore game and has a great sense of humor. Basically it's Pikmin meets Devil May Cry.
-Nano Assault Neo - was a launch game but a lot of fun. Only problem is its kind of short but good arcade action
-Tank! Tank! Tank! - Free download and then buy DLC. Has more content than the arcade version and is a lot of fun for four players.
-Windwaker HD - I did not play WW on the GC but I have had a lot of fun with this one. One of the best 3D Zeldas.
-Backwards compatible with the Wii always a big plus.
I have a few more games I plan on getting for Christmas but haven't been able to build up a massive collection yet
-Ultimate Monster Hunter 3 - I've not played this yet but my friends that have this talk about it all the time
Where 2014 is the time where all the games will be coming along for all the systems I'm looking forward most especially to X - I know lots of WiiU fans are looking forward to SSMB and Bayonetta 2
