I really, seriously think we're overlooking a very real threat in NoKo.   They're hilariously bumbling and incompetent, but even the most incompetent idiot can      be dangerous.    Kim Jong Unni is a spoiled child    and wants attention, and if people don't start giving him ALL THEIR ATTENTION!!! he's going to throw a fit and start breaking his toys.   And by "toys" I mean "rockets," and by "breaking" I mean "blowing up bits of SoKo and whatever else he can reach."

I don't think Kim Jong Unni actually WANTS a war -- he just wants to act like he's big and important and "deserves respect!"   But his country, its government, and its military are so stunningly bad at getting anything right that I really do think    they'll end up starting WWIII        by accident.      Or at the very least they'll reignite the Korean War and finally bring THAT clusterfuck to an end, one way or the other.

38 Here's the deal for all the "Republicans" and the chattering class that think another retreat will finally bring victory (from PowerLine):

This passage caught my eye: “once many Americans believed that the gay movement was de-radicalized and domesticated–much of the opposition to gay marriage began to dissipate.”

Pete is right to attribute the shift in opinion in part to the perception that the gay movement is de-radicalized. He is also wise to speak of this perception as a belief, not necessarily a reality.

In my view, the gay movement is far from de-radicalized. LetÂ’s assume that gay marriage itself isnÂ’t a radical concept; the gay agenda doesnÂ’t end there. Nor do I believe it ends with mistreating religious institutions and people of faith who oppose same sex marriage, a concern that Pete raises.

For “civil rights” movements, there is never a final battle or a last frontier. And marriage is certainly not the final battle or the last frontier of the highly energized, embittered (not without cause) gay rights movement.

==========
That's exactly it: It's never enough with the radicals.

And at some point, those advocating retreat now will wish they had stood their ground as they'll soon find they've no ground to stand on.

Plus plenty of fan service with big-boobied girls.  Probably the most famous fan service scene is the boy with the sniper rifle laying his rifle right between the large rack of his girlfriend because she is flat on the ground and he goes prone over her.  And the recoil from the rifle causes ripples to travel across those large tracts of land.

I would be more amused if it weren't for the fact that running background checks on everyone appears to be the new hotness.  Honestly, think about how many ads there are on tv and ye olde internets about running a background check.   It's apparently now perfectly fine to be a nosy parker into everyone's past.  Honestly, we have a client who admitted that she runs a background check on every person she meets.   That is insanely creepy.

Not if you watch a lot of TV, Imperial One.  It's full of "men are out to kill you, rape you and then bar-b-que your dog."  For instance, IDTV has a commercial for a show called Dates From Hell -  the girl is shown going on dates with dopes, then meeting a good-looking fellow.  The two have dinner and go for a drive.  She gets in his car and says, "I wish this date would never end."

The smile vanishes from his face.  "Don't worry."  *sound of doors locking*  "It won't."

115 isn't that recalcitrance based on the submarining of a hideous "common core" curriculum? My wife has like 30 plus years in teaching in a private school system. She knows her stuff upside down, inside out, forward and backwards. Two degrees, one in education, one in Psychology. She's had kids that outperform every other school in the county on standardized testing. This year her system adopted common core. I've tried to pin her on the common core curriculum as being deficient in some way to what she teaches, has taught, etc. Nope. She doesn't have an issue with it except redundancy and paper work. As far as the educational content, she's okay with it. I'll keep pinning her, because that's what I do, but at this point in the year she's fine with it. I was afraid the common core would be bringing Arkansas to every state. Not seeing it so far.

123 Meanwhile, in the Golden State:

Thousands of Medi-Cal medical interpreters would have the right to join a public employees union and collectively bargain with the state under a legislative push to regulate that profession.

Assembly Speaker John A. Perez is leading the drive, fueled by a major public employees union and sparked in part by federal subsidies for Medi-Cal expansion as part of national health care changes.

Perez's Assembly Bill 1263 would create an oddity in which Medi-Cal interpreters would remain independent contractors but would pay dues to a public employees union for representation. They would be guaranteed at least $60 an hour.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is pushing Perez's bill and is jockeying for position to represent Medi-Cal interpreters if the measure becomes law.

147 The thing that scares me about NK is that we don't have any idea if Kim Jong Un is living in reality or playing the part of a desperate communist Messiah. The kid is 30 years old and has been living a sheltered life in a country where free thought is essentially banned. His father and Un share a dream of world admiration and greatness brought about by the reunification of Korea. Un saw Kim Jong Il ridiculed by the rest of the world and how the only time respect was given was when he acted out towards South Korea. This is a very dangerous situation...Not because I think Un wants to start WW3 but with his troops on such a razors edge, the smallest thing could be misconstrued and explode into a conflict. Yesterdays sending of the B-2's over South Korea was an unnecessary provocation and quite shocking to the rest of the world who view BHO as the peacemaker. I understand that Un needed to be sent a message that we would not be dissuaded from our total defense of SK but the B-2's upped the ante a lot and probably pushed Un further into a corner where military action is the only option he feels will save his country.

My parents were lower middle class and I've had a job since I was eleven. They moved back to the formerly working class, now wealthy NYC suburb where they grew up just before I started high school. Most of these kids never worked a day in their life until they were given their first job at age 25 in daddy's law firm. The ones that weren't so lucky as to have a high-paying job handed to them are now mostly Occu-tards blaming rich people (themselves) for not hiring their incompetent asses. Shocking, I know.

And it's not like people are currently unable to have scam marriages for insurance/green card/whatever. 215 At the gym I go to, they have all these big screen TVs near the equipment.  Some of them show CNN.  I usually don't pay attention but I can't help noticing that whenever they have a conservative on, they are always identified in the caption as such.  Last night, it was Dana Loesch "Conservative Radio Host."  A few weeks back, it was Ben Carson "Conservative Brain Surgeon."  I remember seeing a video clip that identified Andrew Brietbart as a "Conservative Columnist."

On the same show last night, Van Jones was on.  Naturally, his ideology was not identified.  Funny, ain't it, how we never see "Left Wing Film-Maker" Michael Moore, or "Marxist" Van Jones.

I know the whole idea is to simply dismiss a person's viewpoint by identifying them as partisan, while allowing the opinions of those on the Preferred Side to be broadcast without labels--and thus, to be considered more fully by viewers.

I wish there was a way to call them on it.

220 I have to take issue with that Forbes link:

And, don’t go into major debt chasing that BA: there is a growing “uncollege” movement that aims to unseat the four-year baccalaureate BA as the key measure of smarts. Expect colleges to respond with shorter degree programs and employers to start looking for better ways to evaluate talent.

Businesses are using that BA to filter out the "undesirables".  By demanding a degree they insulate themselves from the lawyers.

224 They're more educated than like everyone. They can't read, write or do math but they like know like technology or something and about racism, sexism, homophobia and global warming or something Posted by: TheQuietMan at March 29, 2013 11:00 AM (1Jaio) --- Funny you bring up that they are experts on racism, because the one thing I noticed that they seem extremely racist, but its framed as joking around. Such as joshing the Mexican in their group about being mexican, and throwing out joke insults as if they are trying to parody being racist. Used extremely sparingly it might be funny because of the surprise factor, but the kids I've seen are obsessed about race.

225 This college grad/jobs issue reminds me of a conversation I had recently with a friend whose daughter is a Senior in college.

Apparently, said daughter told her mom that "She wouldn't take a job for less than $60k."

Mom replied, "Oh, yes you will even if that job requires you to say 'Do you want fries with that?'!  You WILL take anything that comes along and you can work on looking for something else....you don't get to START out at $60k."

227 221 Vic,

How's that working out for them?

They are buying the fecal offerings of Billuy Ayers with that sheepskin....

Conservatism needs to start offering an alternative...maybe a social group that says "I will work my ass off, show up, not make onerous demands, and walk through hell in a gasoline suit for you if you treat me half fair."

I know that difference in attitude is a difference more important than "having stomped on paper Jesus" checked off in a box to me....

Hudson's reaction is knee jerk at best to be honest.

I played the original Bioshock and enjoyed it immensely.  Yes it was heavily critical of Objectivism, but especially when combined with Moral relativism. (which I think is the more over-reaching theme of the game personally.)

Furthermore, to a certain extent, the game followed a similar plot line to Atlas Shrugged.  I don't recall the game every saying Ryan left Rapture because he didn't want to "coax big government" his leaving is supposed to be akin to the people inside the mountain in Shrugged.  It's an unfair critique.

And who gives a flying shit why Levine says, the thing about art (if we're going to agree that video games are art) is that it's creator never controls the end result.  This is especially true for video games.  Just because Levine doesn't like the right doesn't mean his game is going to turn out exactly like that.

229 EC the EUtopians are obnoxious as hell online because they live in a huge insane asylum....

Aside from the poor English, they're pretty homophobic and racist, especially Russian players.  They have no qualms about dropping the n-word or gay slurs when they find out you're from the US.

Posted by: EC at March 29, 2013 07:09 AM (GQ8sn)

230 I play FPS games online and you should see some of the outfight anti-gay, anti-minority stuff coming from players on European servers. It's like Hector without the threat of TBH3K cranked up to 11.

In comparison to just about EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD, the United States is about as unracist as you can get without    inflicting pre-frontal lobotomies on the entire population.   Europe is a cesspit.   The things they say and do over there are unbelievable; the kinds of things that would get them arrested and/or    shot if they tried it over here.

I mentioned on another thread a few days ago -- I think the one about Sean Penn's racist son -- that it would never even occur to me to use a racial or ethnic slur like n****r or    c**n,   or a sexual slur like   faggot.       I    think using such terms is abhorrent.

(Oh, I'll gladly call someone a fucktarded douchebag, but that's multi-purpose    and equal opportunity.)

But I'M the one who gets called a racist,    in one way    or another,      EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.   While genuine racist scumbags like Alec Baldwin and other lefties get a pass because they're "progressives."

Fuck that noise.

I'd love to see a state department of education eliminated and responsibility for curriculum put under the department of weights and measures.  Let the state develop a GED test that it uses to assess competence for civil service positions and that's it.  Let schools choose how to proceed after that.

242 Sven, Dwayne Johnson is an amazing carny. He is one of the greatest wrestling personalities of all time. His race and his politics are kind of irrelevant to me when it comes to him being a carny. That being said, personally, he bores me. But you can't ignore his natural talent for the genre. And he's not a great movie actor. I think his best role was in Doom (!!!) when he did a straight up parody of himself.

250 Some of them want to be scientists or engineers, but those math and science tests are just SO unfair !!! Posted by: kbdabear at March 29, 2013 10:52 AM (mCvL4) Do you really want the mechanic who works on your car to be ignorant in math and science? To be a good mechanic, one has to have a good understanding of the fundamentals of physics and electricity. And math is essential for both. Otherwise, you ain't a mechanic, you're just a parts-changer.
