Gun Knowledge Banned In Chicago
— andy

Really, Chicago Tribune? Really?

Now, everybody knows that's not a "Mount for bayonet, grenade launcher". I know what you're thinking, but it's not a sling swivel either ...

I'm sure you morons and moronettes will put me some more knowledge about what that sinister protrusion might be in the comments.

Yeah, me too.  Ace mentioned Aristotle, so I just wanted to point out this:

Aristotle said a "Citizen" was someone born to two Citizens.

"Who is the citizen, and what is the meaning of the term?"

"...Leaving out of consideration those who have been made citizens, or who have obtained the name of citizen any other accidental manner, we may say, first, that a citizen is not a citizen because he lives in a certain place, for resident aliens and slaves share in the place;"

"...But the citizen whom we are seeking to define is a citizen in the strictest sense, against whom no such exception can be taken, and his special characteristic is that he shares in the administration of justice, and in offices."

"...a citizen is defined to be one of whom both the parents are citizens;"

http://preview.tinyurl.com/azyyz5m

I figure if we were using Aristotle as an authority, we might as well cover this point as well.

Yea, I think they are thinking more of the Shaka Zulu non throwing type spears.

Essentially they are saying it allows the weapon to be used in a clinch as a version of the 500,000 year old weapon that mankind invented shortly after clubs and rocks.

On Jan. 22, Salon republished an article from one of our content partners, the Weeklings, that was sympathetic to unfounded 9/11 conspiracies. Salon has a long history of debunking fringe conspiracists — around Sept. 11, and more recently, Sandy Hook — and are proud of those efforts. We regret this oversight.

6 How does a bayonet allow the weapon to be used as a spear? Do you throw it?
Posted by: Bomber at January 23, 2013 05:20 PM (84w+B

Spear are used for thrusting, unless designated otherwise, javelins are for throwing.

As a matter of fact, "spear" is a generic term for a simple double-edged blade on a stick, whether used for thrusting, throwing, or (rarely) cutting. I have seen the term "lance" used instead, mostly by translations of non-English works, but in English the term is usually reserved for a horseman's thrusting weapon.

No, Dungeons and Dragons terminology is not considered valid by people who study old weapons and armor - based on some very bad info and has little relationship to original terminology.

303 Work has been proceeding in order to bring perfection to the crudely conceived idea of a machine that would not only supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors, but would also be capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters. Such a machine is the "Turbo-Encabulator."

The original machine had a base-plate of prefabulated amulite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the pentametric fan. The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots in the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a nonreversible trem'e pipe to the differential girdlespring on the 'up' end of the grammeters.

Forty-one manestically spaced grouting brushes were arranged to feed into the rotor slipstream a mixture of high S-value phenylhydrobenzamine and 5% reminative tetryliodohexamine. Both of these liquids have specific pericosities given by P = 2.5C.n^6-7 where n is the diathetical evolute of retrograde temperature phase disposition and C is Cholmondeley's annular grillage coefficient. Initially, n was measured with the aid of a metapolar refractive pilfrometer, but up to the present date nothing has been found to equal the transcendental hopper dadoscope. Undoubtedly, the turbo-encabulator has now reached a very high level of technical development. It has been successfully used for operating nofer trunnions. In addition, whenever a barescent skor motion is required, it may be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocating dingle arm to reduce sinusoidal depleneration.

372 Lets be honest here if someone were pointing a rifle at me that was equipped with a bayonet, I would be hoping they would attempt to use the bayonet. All a bayonet does is make a rifle a sharp pointy stick. Can never understand the fact that for some government it is OK you have the rifle but you are not allowed the pointy stick. Government=stupid.
