Home is the sailor from the sea
— Dave in Texas

Home is the sailor, home from sea
Her far-borne canvas furled
The ship pours shining on the quay
The plunder of the world.

Home is the hunter from the hill
Fast in the boundless snare
All flesh lies taken at his will
And every fowl of air.

'Tis evening on the moorland free,
The starlit wave is still
Home is the sailor from the sea,
The hunter from the hill.

-- A.E. Housman

RIP Chris Kyle. Your bride spoke of you in words that were remarkable. May God bless her and your children in the hard time.

We have a land full of broken warriors that we need to help. Chris Kyle understood the need. I hope we rise up to his admonition and courage.

5 If you missed the end of the service, you missed taps followed by a lot of bagpipes.

The CBS news channel that JohnE posted said after the service was over that he will be buried in Austin tomorrow....furthest funeral procession in TX history.  And they expected most parts of the route, down 35E, will have people on the overpasses.

Not from the government that broke them.

But, from you and I.

I won't worry about that.  You can not sue a dead man.  He has no case against the estate.  You have the right to defend yourself in court, dead folks can't do that.

Unless he already has a judgement, he is SOL.

You may be right but Ventura's lawyer seems to think there is something more he can do. (see second to last paragraph in the link) But a man of honor (even if he was right) would STFU and leave the family alone to grieve. Pineapple Ventura some sideways assembly required

41 @42

The lawyer is an idiot.  Unless you have a judgement in place he has no fucking case.

The is not a Mormon court, where you baptist dead people, you can not convict a person of anything when they are dead

You can not get a summary judgement, you can get nothing.  This might be a shake down.  Listen we'll go away for something, or you spend something to get it dismissed.

I think two things would happen it that was tried.  First, the court would award the widow attorney's fees, and second, the state where the lawyer was licensed would disbar him.

45 I read the Shooter article.  It is a disgrace that this man does not have insurance, pension or anything given his extraordinary service. (And not just him, all military, and especially special forces).  He virtually single handedly got O re-elected and O is doing nothing to ensure he's taken care of?  I wish I was surprised.  I hope GWB reads about him and makes an effort to see that at least the participants of that particular mission get what they rightly deserve.

I can see both of them debating... Id, ego and super-ego are the three parts of the psychic apparatus defined in Sigmund Freud's structural model of the psyche; they are the three theoretical constructs in terms of whose activity and interaction mental life is described. According to this model of the psyche, the id is the set of uncoordinated instinctual trends; the ego is the organized, realistic part; and the super-ego plays the critical and moralizing role.[1] The super-ego can stop you from doing certain things that your id may want you to do.[2]

60 When there is something real to be depressed about - depression is the proper response - it passes over time and with changes in circumstances.

Depression as a disease is when there is depression without the external cause - or when there is depression far in excess of what is appropriate for the external circumstances.

65 Joffrey, family court is stacked against you, as a guy. The chance of good outcome are very limited, if your lawyer didn'trepare you for that he or she is an idiot. Are you spending a few days in the cooler for contempt, no, then it could have gone worse. You have to organize for the long war, first to fight for every inch the court will give you - and more importantly to use every crack in their bullshit to ensure your daughter knows she can rely on you. I have an uncle, his wife got complete custody and the house, despite 1) cheating on him, 2) using coke, 3) being on powerful psycho drugs - she couldn't keep a job, keep the house warm, etc. He bought a lot down the street, put a trailer on it, moved in, and made sure his girls had food, clothing, safe harbor, etc. every day until they went to college. He had to fight for every inch, I think he picked up a PI license along the way.
