Now, I am on disability and had to fight a serious bout of depression upon the realization that my best working years are behind me. My identity was so tied to my career that, even now, 9 months later, I still have no idea how to adjust to the change. While there are those who have no problem being part of the unemployed masses, there are still some of us for whom it is an utter humiliation.

We need Community Organizers - someone like you needs to train people from other districts to get people contributing what they can where it's needed. The GOP is a SCOAMF in that respect. I have looked a little into what to do locally but it's both incestuous and I don't have a lot to offer (yet). Also I'm in a red county in a blue state, so I'm kind of preaching to the choir. I have pondered this problem for years. The problem is not my area, or even my state. It is conservative. (let's stop using the color RED to describe conservatives. That is the color used to describe Communists, meaning Liberals.)

In order to have an impact, I have to perform operations in other states, and that is expensive and difficult, not to mention the fact that Americans resent interlopers.

Really people, it is mostly the cities which are the problem. Unless you can produce a message that will be seen by these folk, you are mostly wasting your time. Billboards placed along roads leading into cities is a plausible option, but not if you have to pay for them. Even then, you need a catchy and quick message.

The real problem is that the Liberal Democrat Union members who control the media from their New York Social environment serves the function of a goalie who won't let you near the public unless you can get past them.

I say break the goalies legs, if we can. This ain't soccer. It's war.

108 MDLS and TN. Knowing what to do, and what is necessary to put up with, would indeed be valuable to know. OSP's story of how his wife whipped a local county GOP org into shape earlier today was inspiring.

I've been considering getting more involved, but I've worked mostly alone for over thirty years, and there's a reason. Not sure how much of the necessary BS I can tolerate, especially on an extended basis.

109 My Congressman has a lifetime ACU rating of 100.0. Could probably be more effective, but I don't see myself trying to oust them. Our *local* politics could use some work as far as buddy systems and cronyism, but locally we're not broke and not totally overrun by the various problems - though my State is boned and will take us with it. I would, I am sure, not *entirely* be spinning my wheels here, but it's not the place that needs the most work. I would like to help people in other districts if I could.

111 If I were to simply *jump in* now I would almost certainly alienate people and be marginalized. These are *professional politicians*, their job is keeping other people out. I need to learn more about how these people work, either from someone who knows better or by helping out someone inside for a while. Personally I still have problems keeping schedules because of health issues, but I would still like to learn.

I've been a political soldier. Had a great deal of success with it too. I appointed myself to lead a dirty tricks unit, and it worked out great. The Democrat candidate was SO mad, he filed FEC charges against me.

Fucking loser ended up staying in Washington DC. Still there for all I know.

This raises an interesting point. To whom are our congresspeople beholden? With that many individuals in a given congressional district, the chance of any one citizen interacting meaningfully with their representative is negligible. Thousands of e-mails received, no way is the congressman or his staff going to actually read those. So, they tend to rely on opinion polls for input, and talking points (form letters) for response. It's no wonder individual citizens feel disenfranchised.

Crock pot ribs tonight. Slab of ribs cut up into 2 rib sections, put them in a crock pot with 2 cups of your favorite BBQ sauce, slow cook for 8 hours. So good they almost eat themselves.
