Ben,

the fluky goals the Islanders keep getting is maddening. The guy on NHL Network said you'd see 1 off the boards, off the pads and in goal against a good goal tender once every 4 months. The NY has 4 such goals in 3 games.

The Pens are totally bi-polar in this series and Malkin is playing stupid.

32

Jay,

I can barely even talk about it. I'm so pissed. Fleury is having another meltdown, which is okay considering we've got Vokoun as a back up. I think it goes without saying that Vokoun will be starting in game five.

What bothers me is Malkin. He's pretty much solely responsible for the fifth goal last night and has played a terrible defensive game all series long.  We can't scratch Malkin. He's going to be out there. He's been taking stupid penalties, specifically the f*cking retaliatory penalties. He's been playing with passion instead of brains. Either he gets his head right or he's one of the main reasons we have a first round exit when we should be making a legitimate cup run.

Fortunately the series is only tied 2-2. Despite the epic meltdown, the series is still ours for the taking. There really is nothing to do at this point but hope they pull their head out of their asses and begin playing up to their talent level.

Now they don't say the first part as much but they always throw in the 'killed Osama Bin Laden' bit.

What annoys me is that as much as they lied about the facts of Benghazi is they lied just as much about the facts of Osama Bin Laden and the public will never know. The air is so saturated with Obama lies and fuckups that we are forced to choose our battles at the expense of the truth in other matters. Same thing occured with the Clinton administration.

58 - "Americans Still More Interested In Jobs, Not Guns And Immigration" Obviously. Guns don't pay the mortgage or the rent. And fences along the Rio Grande don't pay tuition or fund retirement plans. For every spoiled brat on the Internet, frothing at the mouth over guns and immigration, there are a dozen people on Main Street who simply are worried about making ends meet. - "The US Has More Than 10 Million People On Disability" Republics fail when the general public figures out that it can vote itself largesse from the public treasury. - "Gun Crime Has Plunged, But Americans Think It Is Up" Not surprising. Couch potatoes. Waste cases. Zombies. Flakes. LIV's. The senile. Numbskulls. It all adds up. There's a lot of rank ignorance out there. On the other hand: - "Colbert-Busch Couldn't Win Despite Media Blackout On Her Leftwing Tweets And Arrest Record" Not surprising. All politics is local. And there are major differences between Zombieland at large and the sort of demographics which actually show up to vote for a May special election in an off year. The latter is no panacea, granted, but it's a far more sentient and informed group. Plus racial minorities tend not to participate in special elections and college and grad students are busy with finals and term papers. Hence the Republican won, despite his many flaws. It's actually that simple.

68 NYS healthcare exchanges and all that "platinum, gold, silver, bronze"
=========
One thing to keep in mind about ObamaCare is how it is such a screw job to the LIVs.
See, all this shit about "gold, silver and bronze?" Designed to (A) make the stupid fucks think there are now choices where there weren't before and (B) make them think they have a choice. (Platinum doesn't really exist as a viable option to 99% of the people.)

Here's the reality: Before ObamaCare, health insurers found they had to have a minimum of 6 risk/coverage levels to control costs--otherwise too many "risky" insureds would be in lower risk pools.

So now, they are require to go from 6 to 3--but keep costs the same? Yeah, right.

Oh, it gets better: You're going to find out that 90% or  so of people can only afford the "bronze" and it's super awesome 60/40.
Wait, did I mention that employers only have to offer the bronze level?

So: Paying more for less coverage--the ObamaCare way.

Looks like there are several issues in play.  First normally utilities write off a certain percentage of a property every year for tax purposes just like any buisness does for tools etc. Usually that occurs over a span of between 20 and 40 years.

Also this looks like one of the plants that fell under the infamous Obama EPA rules and the cost of meeting their new particulate rules exceeds the possible return on the plant.  In other words they would have to pay millions to upgrade it and they would not be guaranteed a rate increase to pay for it.

The other thing that it looks like is going on is  they have an issue with chemical pollution of the ground. Most likely this is from fly ash that has been placed in settling ponds that were not constructed properly.

That is what will make the property impossible to sell. Because under one of the stupidest acts ever passed by the bastards in congress, the current owner of a property with pollution is responsible for cleaning it up.  Not the people who polluted it.

Who in the hell is going to pay several million dollars for a piece of property and than have to pay $50M to clean it up under out stupid EPA rules?

Twitchy link in name because she didn't just whine about Sanford being elected.

She also tied it to gay marriage. Well, didn't tie it at all, just waved her arms and mentioned both.

She also wrote "I've been doing this since my gestation."

She also had written an article in 2009 that said "But what goes on in Governor SanfordÂ’s personal life, I believe, just isnÂ’t relevant to his role as a public official."

This is 100% correct.  I just wish that I wasn't pretty sure this would happen:

LIV sees premiums jump and coverage decline

LIV: "What!?  But they said it would bend the cost curve down!"

DEMS: "Well, it would have if those evil Republicans hadn't tried to stop us at every turn.  Do you know, some states even refused to create exchanges?  If they'd just acted in the spirit of the law, it would all be better.  See, you need to vote for us so we can have the power to implement ObamaCare fully.  Then you'll see your costs go down."

LIV: "Oh, that makes sense.  Thanks for looking out for The Little Guy, Democrats?"

LIV pulls lever for Democrats in national elections

That is not to say that Republicans should have done anything differently (after OCare passed.  Before it passed was a whole different matter), but I'm pretty sure that's how that conversation is going to go.

In January, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton defended her handling of the attack before Senate and House committees and was angered at Republican accusations that the administration had misled the country over whether the attacks stemmed from a protest.

Issa denied that Wednesday's hearing is an effort by Republicans - who hold a majority in the House - to discredit the Democratic administration.

"Why aren't the Democrats just as upset that we didn't do all we could do to save American lives?" he asked on CNN.

An official inquiry into the incident released in December concluded that "leadership and management failures" in two State Department bureaus led to a security posture "inadequate for Benghazi and grossly inadequate to deal with the attack that took place."

Wednesday's hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. EDT

I almost agree.

Except one thing: The states that refused to go along are solid R. And O-care has gotten less and less popular as it went along.

One of the things the dems wish-casted into this bill was front-loading all the benefits while back-loading the costs. They--stupid is as stupid does--think businesses are like they are, never planning for the future.

But the insurers saw what was coming and put the costs as much as they could before the required benefits. While fighting a rear-guard action to delay and get waivers.

That's why it keeps falling in popularity.

So, the dems could have made that argument, that "but for those evil R's, our O-care would be awesome" except that required at least a bare majority in favor of O-care by now.

Anyway: Ship sails on and the dems will make that argument anyway. But, it'll only juice their numbers in deep blue states. In the red states, it'll sound like, "let us put a layer of diarrhea on your shit sandwich to make it taste better."

Wild card: The R's. Never missing an opportunity to F things all to H and save the dems from their own failings.

About the neighbors, it just bugs me that a woman who lived across the street from them for 40 years claims she had no clue, as did all the neighbors.  Yet we hear these weird stories about naked women on leashes in the back yard, a baby with a slit throat, possible bodies in the yard, two of them are drunks, house all boarded up.  They all claim they had no clue.  In any other neighborhood except possible East St Lious, this family and house would be infamous

And about the authorities not knowing?  These guys had other kids.  Wonder if child protective services ever went to the address at some point?  No way child protective services, or some court or police haven't looked at this family for some reason before.  And the cops had been there.

Don't forget this is SC.  I thought Sanford would win all along but maybe it would be narrower because of the cheating issue.  Its OK for Dems in MA to cheat but not Republicans in SC you know.

But we wound up with a blowout anyway.  And Sanford was very conservative in his political actions for the 8 years he was Governor.

He never did a single thing politically that pissed me off.  So far Haley has done two.

Sanford was vilified by the national press for months. His indiscretions were either subtext or blatantly thrown about in most articles and reports about the race, and his opponent's flaws were carefully swept under the rug.

And the people of that district said: "fuck you" to the MBM, and handed Sanford a resounding victory.

I see that as good news. I expected a squeeker, maybe even a contested count. This was unexpected.

Are the Health Exchangey thingers portable to different States, even States that aren't going to implement ?
============
No.

And that's what makes the joke even more cruel.

If there isn't an exchange in your state (1) your employer pays no penalty for not having insurance, (2) you don't qualify for the subsidies. But, you still have to pay the "tax" if you don't have insurance.

Oh, like I said: It's a real screw-job on the middle class--and O voters especially.

But, your idea is too real-world based: Allowing insurers to sell a universal nationwide product that doesn't have to be approved by each and every state board of insurance is too free market and limits the opportunities for graft, corruption and cronyism. (And yes, the insurers oppose it too--as it'd allow upstarts to force them to compete.)

I think there's a lot to that.  Not excusing the really shitty cops that suck donkey balls, but I think many go into it with pretty good intentions, but after dealing with all the shitrats on a daily basis, PC bullshit from political superiors, and the general ass-suckery of  Western justice systems, they get jaded purely for mental survival.

205 Second, they were saying on the radio that other people had seen -and reported to the police- weird things. The police would do minimal follow-up and leave.

Yep. I read a giant Reddit thread (mistake!) about this and had the same thought I'm having now: This demographic is not familiar with what police in a shitty neighborhood actually do. I've done some 'hood time, slumming-bohemian style, and I quickly learned what the deal is--and that I'd better be prepared to save my own ass at all times.

Police don't find out what's up when a Loser seems to be in trouble. If they can't "help" them by fucking them up, it's none of their business. The way Loser crime is dealt with is to encircle it, not to stop it.

You can be fine with that, of course. And "we" obviously are. It's a near-universal strategy with clear benefits...for non-victims of it. But people like those girls (and the funny interview guy) are abandoned so we can keep people like their captors out of our lives. That's the deal.

The Tremont neighborhood is a strange one.  It used to be where all the DPs lived who worked in the steel mills and was a nice family neighborhood.  Then it got a major fuck job in the 70s when they constructed interstates all around it and a lot of the families said fuck this shit and left.  Since then it's been a mixture of people who stuck around, arty types, gentrification types and lowlifes.  My point is that any concept of a cohesive neighborhood went down the shitter a long time ago and it's very possible for shitheads to live isolated lives there where nobody knows what the fuck they're doing.

Cleveland cops have been on a prolonged streak of fucking things up for a while now.  I'm not sure if this will lead to things getting better but they don't have that much further to drop.

Oreo
: Chocolate cake iced with Oreo butter cream & dipped in chunks of crushed Oreo bits.

Brownie: Chocolate cake, topped with chocolate fudge icing & yummy brownie chunks, drizzled with milk & white chocolate sauce.

Salty Caramel: Vanilla or chocolate cake, filled & topped with a salted caramel butter cream, a caramel drizzle & a sprinkle of sea salt.

Bastards.

Many years ago, there was a little boy that disappeared from his elementary school, the same one my youngest stepson (the Marine) went to.  He vanished from the school, never made it home.  A search went on for months, and a psychic met with the family trying to re-assure them saying he's alive and eating doughnuts and getting fat.  A few weeks later, the police find his body stuffed inside a suitcase in an empty field near where I used to live.  He had been dead for quite some time.  His estranged father kidnapped him and murdered him.  Police had him as a suspect from day one, but he never gave up any info.

Reading the latest on that limo fire (yes it continues to bother me, I want to know what caused it) to me it seems like part of the reason 5 of them died is because one of the ones who got out ran around and opened the door by the fire which gave it oxygen and made it burn even more. I am speculating (because I don't even play a fire investigator on tv) that if that door had been left closed at least a couple of the other women could have gotten through the front panel.

308 Meggie Mac is just redoing the Ron Reagan schtick of speaking ill about Republicans while being the ne'er do well child of a prominent Republican.

309 We really should stop referring to John McCain as a Republican. Kinda like Colin Powell is still referred to as a Republican.

All cars should have car doors which you simply open and get the hell out.  Did this limo not have doors where the women were located or did the doors get stuck or what.  That's what bothers me.  Open door, bail out.  Seems simple but something obviously prevented this.

312 Has anyone ever asked Meggy Mac why ahe calls herself Republican? What Republican core tenets does she actually believe in?

314 I had a pre-consult for a crown with a very nice young lady dentist about half my age.  Scheduled soon.
Years ago I was having the wisdom teeth out and before they started my leg was shaking. They asked if I was ok and I said I was perfectly relaxed and just the leg was acting up. The assistant was a really good looking tall girl and she was holding my hand on my leg trying to help me out.

315 170 []I read Meggy McCain's previous 20 or so tweets.

She is in fact quite stupid.

Kinda like her cheating dad, who graduated near the bottom of his class at Annanpolis.  How in the hell did he get into flight school?  Oh that's right, his daddy and grandpa were admirals.

316 Something important to add:  Meghan McCain wrote a Daily Beast article in 09 asking the Republicans to forgive Sanford.

"Sex scandals like Governor Sanford's and John Ensign's are private matters that don't effect public policy and shoot down rising political stars.  It's time to end hypocrisy in America."

But now, of course, this is bad for some reason that only makes sense in her head.

317 "Yep. And not just CS grads. I've worked with lots of computer-y people who had history and poli-sci degrees but got into IT consulting one way or another. They're all doing fine and weren't affected at all by the recession.

Not investing in technology is suicide, recession or no recession. And this goes for any company in any industry.

That is not my experience.  I can also introduce you to a couple of dozen other people who will refute the "no recession for comp sci folks" meme that you are peddling.
