I am Remiss in Posting the AoS NCAA Bracket Results
— Dave in Texas

My bad. My bad.

Here's how the winners made their mark. Place, name, games picked right out of possible games, points and possible points.

1 Need Moar IBUs Nick 39 of 63 139 139
2 mesablue mesablue 40 of 63 138 138
3 bp Bill Pohlmeier 42 of 63 136 136
4 From Sixteen ThePoet 44 of 63 134 134
5 NJRob's Championship Bracket NJRob 43 of 63 127 127

I'm looking forward to meeting up with mesa, who encouraged me to keep my commitment on this. I hope he's wearing loose-fitting shorts.

Because he's earned some special recognition, and avocados are in season right now.

Most bracket's I've played in use increasing points for each round.

I've seen single point increases (1, 2, 3, etc.) all the way to doublings (in the latter obviously each round would have the same number of points.)

42 Rubio's amnesty support mainly makes him look stupid. Does he really believe Repubs will benefit? He never acknowledges the fact that 65-70% of Mexicans and Central American immigrants are socialist Democrats. They want free shit. They won't vote for us. Rubio doesn't even engage that argument. He just insists they are "natural" conservatives and provides zero evidence. He must be aware of these stats, why won't he acknowledge or try a counter-argument?

51 I'll say it again... but the only way I can support citizenship is if the illegal has registered under a legit SSN and has than gone one to earn and contribute $50,000 or more in Federal income taxes.   That ought to guarantee they've established themselves as a member of the middle class before they get the vote.

I payed $6k last year in Fed taxes.  I don't think its fair that people who snuck in and are only pitching in a few hundred bucks a year get to vote on how my $6k is spent.

59 Most charitable interpretation of Rubio is he just kinda dumb and blinded by growing up Cuban and assuming because Cubans speak Spanish and are anti-commie that means Mexicans and Guatemalans will be, too. But that's be like Jonah Goldberg insisting that Jews are natural Repubs cause he grew up in a right-wing Jewish Republican house. Cubans are outlers and Rubio won't admit it. And young Cubans are trending Univision and away from their anti-commie parents and grandparents.

Posted by: Flatbush Joe at April 17, 2013 07:08 AM (ZPrif)

62 That's a Veteran's hospital in Salisbury , N.C. SALISBURY, N.C. — A bomb threat was reported at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury Wednesday morning. Hospital officials sent out an email alert that said the threat was reported at 9:15 a.m. Officials said they are taking the threat “very seriously.” A hospital representative said police are searching two buildings: building No. 4 and building No. 11. Building No. 4 is for inpatient/outpatient mental health patients. Building No. 11 is for health/social work offices. Pateients have been moved to gymnasium in building No. 6. Bomb-sniffing dogs have been brought in. Roads in the area are being shut down. Stay with wsoctv.com for more on this story.

The reason I was so supportive of Rubio is one, his background.  Two, he's not "white".  Three, he seemed very grounded in good conservative principles.

Jim DeMint is his best friend in the Senate.

As much as I hate identity politics, GOP needs to get ahead of the game.  By having a hispanic on the national ticket, that will forever kill the "old, white guys" meme the media loves to hammer.

Oh sure, they could say he's just a cuban, but that "criticism" lacks any real bite compared to the "old white guys" meme.

70 If the political right wants to survive in America then immigration needs to be slowed -- both legal and illegal. 70% of immigrants step onto American soil proud Democrats. We legalize 1M+ every year. 700k for Dem and 300k for Repubs. We basically fall behind a half million every year just to due to today's immigration system.

"From DU:"Others are scanning photos of the marathon, I've got a better idea. I've been reading all the comments on rightwingdouchebag sites like Ace of Spades for someone admitting he carried out the bombings so everyone could pat him on the back. I haven't found anything yet, but I'll keep looking. Right, but if you're going to do that anyway it makes no difference if they're illegals or not.  That arrangement is *more* illegal when they're citizens because of minimum wage and other laws.

So the question becomes again, what are these corporations really getting out of this?

200 OT but it relates to basketball at least ... Tracey McGrady was just signed by the Spurs to replace Stephen Jackson, who they just released. Three quick thoughts: 1. WTF were they thinking?!?! 2. I didn't realize that T-Mac was still alive; I see now I was mistaken, only his career was dead. 3. That useless choker may finally win his first playoff series; if the Spurs somehow lose their 2-7 match up, I predict it will be McGrady's fault.

Really don't understand that one, but the more times I read it the closer I get to convincing myself that it just needed a sarc tag. Not at all. 226 I worked at a company as a consultant for about 6 months. The front line workers there were I'd estimate 70% illegals. But their name tags all said "John from Rochester, NY". They couldn't string together 3 words in English, but they were from Rochester or Dallas or Salt Lake City.

Everyone knew they were full of shit. But they had a SSN card with "John from Rochester" and that was good enough for HR. And they all got benefits, vacation pay and every other benefit a real "John from Rochester" got as well as the same hourly rate.

Sure they can.

Most are currently paying higher than minimum wage for low skilled labor.  Even with high unemployment few people are willing to work for $7.75/hr when they can get a higher standard of living being on the dole.

234 Speaking of illegals - I had the most surreal experience getting my drivers license when, as I'm standing there being told that the amount of identification I was required to show (according to the DMV website) would not be enough identification for me. The main glitch was that they were unable to verify my SSN due to computer problems. I was told I would need to go to the Social Security office across town and get a letter from them verifying my card. When I got back - 3 hours later, I stood there watching a van load of illegals (and a translator) getting their drivers licenses in front of me. The clerk asked one 50 something guy if he was born in the US. His translator translated the question, and he nodded in the affirmative.
