— JohnE. I dare you to try to read this without laughing.
GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — The chilly relationship between rival upstate New York ice cream truck operators got out of hand this season, with Sno Cone Joe trying to chase Mr. Ding-A-Ling out of the market, authorities said Wednesday.Mr. Ding-A-Ling appears to have won this round, but Sno Cone Joe ain't exactly known for bitchin' out after a little shakedown from the law.Gloversville police told local media outlets two Sno Cone Joe operators face harassment and stalking charges after heated confrontations last month that included one of them yelling "This is my town!" at a Mr. Ding-A-Ling driver.
The driver told police that Sno Cone Joe owners Joshua Malatino and Amanda Scott followed his truck, playing their music at high volume and trying to lure away customers with promises of free ice cream.
Police said Malatino also called the suburban Albany headquarters of Mr. Ding-A-Ling and said "I own this town!" while claiming Sno Cone Joe controls the frozen treats market in Gloversville, a former manufacturing city about 35 miles northwest of Albany.
Gettin' rough out there. Stay safe, morons.

The Glasgow Ice Cream Wars were conflicts in the East End of Glasgow in Scotland in the 1980s between rival ice cream van operators, over lucrative drug distribution territory. The conflicts involved daily violence and intimidation, and led to the deaths by arson of several members of the family of one ice cream van driver and a consequent court case that lasted for 20 years. The conflicts generated widespread public outrage, and earned the Strathclyde Police the nickname the "serious chimes squad" (a pun on Serious Crime Squad) for its perceived failure to address them.

My church would have an annual ice cream social...20-30 freezers all going at once, men breaking ice into chunks, women stirring up the custard in the kitchen, kids forced to hand crank and run the ice cream back and forth between the parking lot and the freezers in the basement...we'd sell most of it the following Sunday afternoon, but there was intense competition among the children for the "taste spoon", where the ladies made sure no salt got in before packing it up for the freezers.
And the pies. Oh sweet Jesus, the pies.

I ain't laughing. I have no idea what it is. But I do have the interwebs. Let me ask you this, if I held Derp's arms behind his back could you beat him to death with it?

I inherited my mother's old style ice cream maker, but haven't used it.

I have a Cuisinart one. I was on an ice cream making kick last summer. Mango, vanilla bean, and vanilla with snickers pieces in it. Took a lot of Lactaid too.

Just make sure you only issue those to the teetotaler Moron/ettes, or they won't make it to the front line.

Wow.
This is a surprise as I thought all of Gloversville was on public assistance.
We own property in the Adirondacks about 15 minutes west of Gloversville..once the center of glove manufacturing in the area. Until gloves fell out of fashion in 1959.
Result: Just about every employer closed and everyone who was smart left Gloversville.
These guys are pretty typical for the area.
We often feel melancholy when we drive through town to get to Wal-Mart as we pass old historic homes that already needed paint and new roofs 20 years ago (with the exception of the houses on Kingsboro Ave), but the most frustrating is that it is an absolute nightmare to find tradesmen and contractors worth a damn.
