20 State Democrats Rush A Vote Because A GOP Senator Stepped Away To Nurse Her Baby

All of you  "You must breast feed your babies or YOU ARE A HORRIBLE MOTHER!" regressives, time for you to step up and defend this woman!      Nanny Bloomers, you want to speak up?  I know this was    Washington, but like that would stop you from sticking your bigass nanny state nose into the issue.      Considering you    were planning to force women to breast feed their newborns in NYC hospitals last year,   I'm sure you'll have something to say about this.

What's that?   She's a    Republican, and therefore doesn't count?    Oh, right.   Because women who call themselves "Republican" rank somewhere between   pond scum and whale shit on the scale of "things regressives will defend."   Gotcha.

"China: Japan must recognize Beijing's will"

What have I been saying for ages and ages?    China's   economy is a tissue paper castle.    It's so-called superpower status is a paper tiger, rotting from the inside out.   The people are getting fractious and are none too pleased with their government's insane levels of graft, corruption, and totalitarianism.    There are too many young men, not enough young women, and the cities are so polluted you can barely breathe    in them.

They WANT a war.   Nothing distracts a country from its internal strife better than some good ole nationalistic fervor, and there's no love lost between Japan and China;        Japan is the perfect target.    China's got millions of disposable young men they're    dying to get rid of before the rabble rise up and make trouble, and Japan has a population of     old men and women with a dwindling      supply of youth.       And    with Obammy in the White House, China knows there's a good chance that America would sit out any conflict between the two    Asian powers, preferring to issue strongly worded memos    instead of    actually coming to Japan's aid.

This is not going to end well.   Either one or both of those countries will suffer some kind of internal collapse, or they'll flare up and start shooting.   Only time will tell.

At least Welky's going to a GOOD team.   He deserves a shot at a ring, and frankly    his kind of receiver skills are exactly what Peyton needs to get another one.   With Peyton's arm strength in question, Welker's ability to catch short passes and pick up serious    yardage after the catch is going to be really, REALLY important.  If they get a QB/receiver relationship going like Welker had with Brady, then they might just be unstoppable.

Senator Rob Portman now supports gay marriage because his son is gay.  That is the worst reason I can think of for the Senator to try to convince me his change is reasonable.

All this tells me is that his decision making is based solely on what's in it for him.   His previous stance in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act should have been based on logic and what's good for the Country.  His son being gay should not have changed any of those positions.  Instead he likely voted solely for political reasons which is the next to worse reason.

I cannot respect any of his future stances even  if  I  agree  with  them because he has tainted it with this self serving decision.

Three diplomatic security agents were among the Americans injured during the terrorist attack last September on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, according to a State Department official speaking exclusively to Fox News.

According to the official, who confirmed Fox's reporting on the condition of anonymity, two were injured, including one “seriously,” at the CIA facility known as the “annex” and a third suffered smoke inhalation at the consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed.

Four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador, were killed in the attack, and the Obama administration faced intense criticism from Republicans in the aftermath over security problems and apparent inconsistencies in officials explanation of what happens. Lately, however, the focus has turned to the attack's survivors, who still have not been named.

Separately, a diplomatic security source told Fox News the State Department diplomatic security agent who was in the most serious condition suffered a severe head injury during the second wave of the attack at the annex from mortar and rocket-propelled grenades.

This agent was described as the likely State Department employee visited at

Walter Reed Medical Center by Secretary of State John Kerry in January -- a visit first confirmed by Fox News' James Rosen in a recent interview with Kerry.

While not denying the details, the State Department official offered no comment on the nature of the injuries or whether the agent was visited by Kerry or Hillary Clinton before she left office.

97 re-post from prior thread: The gay-rights movement was founded with the objective of destroying marriage and heterosexual society, and stated so openly. It has pushed, and has continued pushing, the objective of destroying heterosexual society by undermining "heteronormativity" in gender studies courses and "queer theory" courses in colleges---then walking back this material into high schools and elementary schools as "increased sex education" over a period of thirty-plus years. In the meantime, "marriage" has gone from the movement's must-destroy to the movement's must-have. It is not about protection for same-sex relationships---otherwise, would not the strongest domestic-partnership protections in the nation have been sufficient for the activists in California? No---they had to have the word "marriage". After decades of loudly trumpeting their difference from the larger society, the movement now demands that same larger society concede, not merely similarity, but identicalness---and invent a totally new form of marriage to achieve this. Does anyone notice the disconnect? The reason for the push for "marriage" is that this will provide a platform for further movement attack on First Amendment protections. Already the gay-rights movement, by popularizing the term "hate speech," has done major work to gut the First Amendment. Already same-sex couples are suing private businesses which decline to provide services for same-sex weddings. Within ten years, traditional religions (and those who practice them) will be under attack for "hate speech."

98 did the football story link open for anybody? Yes. They want to make it a foul for a running back to "lead with his head" when initiating contact with a defender. If you assume that the NFL is there to prevent concussions, it's a rule that makes a lot of sense. Leading with your head is a good way to get hurt. If you assume that the NFL is there to attract viewers/fans and make money, it's a terrible idea. Just one step closer to Professional Flag-Football.

No, because they're already getting that. I mean, they may say that's part of it, but why fight for something you've already been granted? The only place I can see that even sort of holding up is with DADT, and there are so many other reasons that gays in the military are a bad idea that the "spousal benefits" hardly even enter into the discussion. Most state governments already cover "Domestic Partners" including survivors benefits, and every employer I've worked at for the last decade (at least) has done the same. I guess one other place it comes in with SS survivors benefits, but- again- that's relatively minor compared to what they've actually been agitating for.

@AllenG,

Re: Football

I don't know if it will be a bad rule or not.

One of the things fancy helmets have given us is a loss of football fundamentals IMHO.  A running back leading with his head really isn't a good play absent a helmet, and even then it's more of a lazy play because you weren't properly taught to lead with your shoulder which gives you far more power.

The NFL is becoming like the NBA, I'm losing interest in it precisely because there are no skills anymore.  Sure they're athletes, and athletic people can perform in all sports better than non-athletes, but that's about it.

(Yes I realize head hits are a possibility of a missed lead with the shoulder, but if these are really the best of the best they should be able to avoid that.)

142 (Yes I realize head hits are a possibility of a missed lead with the shoulder, but if these are really the best of the best they should be able to avoid that.) My problem with the rule is that it's hard to tell a hit which "leads from the shoulder" from what that "leads with the head" when you do miss and hit head first. And then there's the part of the rule about "incidental contact shall not be a foul." I understand why it's in there, but it is precisely those kinds of rules that have led to some of the most wonky officiating decisions that I've ever seen. It makes throwing the flag purely subjective.

146 Brandon @ #115: I think a good chunk of the "marriage" push is so that gay partners can get spousal benefits from companies, such as health care or survivor benefits. a) "I wanna gimme" does not rise to the level of a "right." b) Those "gimmes" can be addressed by domestic partnership laws, if addressed they must be. c) That still leaves the issue of the movement's objectives, and the results of its objectives (whether intended or not), as distinct from wanting to do something nice for the neighbors down the block who maintain their house so nicely.

Nope, it's still out there. People still get it.

They don't normally get it from dogs anymore, but it's a worry any time anyone is attacked by any wild mammal.

Right, sorry I was being brief.

Allow me to rephrase: we've done yeoman's work at identifying and stopping rabies before it becomes a "death" thing.

It's random in this case because it required a perfect freaking storm. 1) valid organ donation case (rare-ish when you consider total number of patients in a hospital) 3) unreported animal bite 2) case of nascent rabies.

I just looked up the stats for what I could easily find from the 90s, and there were about 10,000 annual cases of *potential* rabies. (i.e. you got bit, so we're going to treat it as if you have rabies.)  That sounds big, but compare that to an rough average of 225,000-250,00 Lyme disease cases (random comparison.)

You obviously can't rid the wild of it completely, but we've done a lot of work of getting people to report animal bits (from non-domestic animals.)  Which (IIRC) is one of the reasons we don't test for rabies prior to organ procurement.  It's definitely a zebra case.

This was a great exchange:

MORGAN: I mean, that may be great for the poor. I guess what I would say by response is – what I might say is that if you are gay, and you want to be Catholic, at the moment, you are basically demonized.

GINGRICH: Piers, time out. Just go back and watch yourself say that for a minute. "It may be okay for the poor." There are several billion human beings who will be thrilled to have a Pope who believes that Christ loves them, wants to wash their feet, wants to feed them, wants to embrace them.

So we need to worry about the wishes of 2% of the population over billions of poor people.

I like also, that Piers goes on after this to blame AIDS cases in Africa on the Catholics not allowing them to use condoms.

I hope Piers Morgan fell down a long flight of stairs leaving the studio after this show.

If you thought Obamacare was fun, you ain't seen nothin' yet.  Barky's Common Core curriculum, on track to be in place across the nation in the next 12 months, ensures that U.S. children will be commie robots in no time.

Michelle Malkin has been doing a series on it, and the latest is below.  It involves all the data mining that's included with the program, down to monitoring facial expressions, logging the political affiliation of the family, bus-stop schedule and child's nickname.  They'll also get to wear biometric wrist bands to monitor other responses.

So far, only five states have said no to the "program" and the federal funds.  If you thought kids were dumb now, this will put them at least two years behind other countries with average math scores.  Literature will include song lyrics and the latest statements from the Fed (that's for 5th graders).   Algebra and geometry will be taught in the last years of high school.  Trig will move to college level.

Homeschoolers will NOT be exempt.  SAT tests will be geared to Common Core curriculum.

Here's Malkin's latest column in the series.

The fact that she actually had her baby there (instead of just pumping) was surprising to me (but it's state legislature, not exactly a place of business).  But other than that, I don't see it as much different than running off the use the bathroom. (In terms of "should it interrupt the work day.")

If they had done it while someone was taking a leak, it'd have been sneaky and underhanded as well.

If you thought kids were dumb now, this will put them at least two years behind other countries with average math scores. Literature will include song lyrics and the latest statements from the Fed (that's for 5th graders). Algebra and geometry will be taught in the last years of high school. Trig will move to college level. --- FUCK. I figured that my state would be one of the first to tell Barky where to stick it, but it appears that we're going to do it statewide.

Homeschool kids achievement tests will be on Common Core curriculum.  In other words, you WILL teach Common Core.  I can't imagine them still letting people homeschool on religious-exemption grounds when Barky's so anti-religion, so homeschool will probably go away ASAP for the Regime.

>>Homeschool kids achievement tests will be on Common Core curriculum.

You mean in states where they make the homeschoolers take tests? In Texas and here in Louisiana, for example, there's nothing I have to do*, so they don't have any opportunity to get any data.

*There are 2 ways and I choose the "declare yourself a private school" method and just have to say I teach 3 kids, without even naming them.

Posted by: Mama AJ at March 15, 2013 07:02 AM (SUKHu)

246 yah Mama it's a state-by-state thing (the CCS requirement for homeschoolers) MM makes that pretty clear you are homeschooling? good for you. I actually have my children IN private schools, but my son's Catholic school jumped RIGHT on that CCS train as soon as it was launched - idiots. they'd had a really good math curriculum before. fortunately my daughter's school is not parochial and not "trendy" - they are an old, old school and do things the old way. I love that about them!

252 Oh, yes, abolishing home schooling will be a big goal for the regime. The fly in the batter, however, is that it's now not only "RW religious nuts" who homeschool (I can say that since I am a RW religious nut since I think anyone who is conservative believes in traditional Christian theology is automatically a RWr religious nut" to "Christian" Obama and his admin. Lots of non religious people homeschool too as do a number of Muslims. Obama and his folks want to abolish homeschooling? They won't just get Christians upset

256 The linkline to the piece on Olbermann isn't right. Olbermann's lawsuit had a number of claims. One was for a special additional award for 'permanent harm and injury to his long-term economic earning capacity' from being fired from Current TV. Gabe Malor can confirm this: this is actually a pretty technical type of claim, mostly because it's so speculative. Who knows what the future will bring? So it mostly gets included in these sorts of claims for its 'for what it might be worth' value; it's actually SO common that if a claimant DOESN'T include it, it's taken as some sort of concession. Employment services contract lawyers throw it in routinely. But the opposing side still has to deal with it, because, again: if the claimant raises it, then no matter how speculative or fantastical, if the opponent doesn't try to erect at least some sort of pro forma response to defend against it, that failure also gets to be argued as some sort of concession. Which is why most of us wouldn't exactly be thrilled with the actual lawyering part in being lawyers. A lot of being a lawyer is a grindhouse of pandering bullshit and prevent defense. Anyway, one typical way to defend against this claim is go after the person making it for how seriously, OR NOT, he tried to explore even his current prospects. And that's how this came up in the Olbermann mediation. Current TV's legal beagles challenged this boilerplate claim, because d'uh. In response, Olbermann's attack dogs went with some suggested 'difficulties' KO supposedly experienced in determining who was going to be in charge of new program development at CNN for the 2012-13 programming season ... ... which was not exactly a closely held industry secret, given CNN was in the throws of negotiating for a new guy -- who turned out to be Jeff Zucker, recently ex of NBC. You can see the game here: Olbermann chooses to go with supposedly exploring the range of his future economic options with the only other major cable news operation that hasn't already fired him, then suddenly finds -- to his shock and suprise! -- that CNN is going with the guy who fired his ass from MSNBC, so ... profit! Anyway, the upshot is that all that ended up happening with this bullshit evidence is that the lawyers on each side get to say they didn't fucked up by raising it or didn't fuck up by rebutting it or didn't fuck up by rebutting the rebuttal, ad infinitum; which just gets back to the rest of the damage award claims, where at least Olbermann had a decent point to make. Here's what it came down to: Olbermann had Current TV over a barrel in the sense that it had signed him to a multi-year contract, with a specific term that said if Current TV were to change ownership then it would still be on the hook to pay him out in full. However, if Current TV WERE to change owners, then Olbermann would NOT be able to hold the new owners to the part of the deal that promised Olbermann an option to earn-in an ownership share starting into the second year of the deal. In effect, since KO was fired or quit inside the FIRST year of the deal, once Fat Al sold Current TV to al Jazeera, that would make Olbermann's claim worth NO MORE than the remaining face value of the deal, or $20 million ($5m over 4 years). So, that's what the trial was going to be about: how much of that $20m would Olbermann be able to get, versus how much of it would Fat Al be able to keep in his wallet. But once the sale to al Jazeera was announced, any lawyer would know the game was up for Fat Al, because his deal with al Jazeera would HAVE to mean that ALL of that would have to come out of Fat Al's pocket, and Olbermann's attack dogs would then be able to play for the jury literally hours and hours of Fat Al's big fat promises about how Current TV was never about the money but all about advancing progressive goals and other such cretinous bullshit. So the case being settled at mediation was a given, and being settled at the full 'real' value of Olbermann's claim was a friggin' mortal lock. If there WAS anything left over to fight about, it would have been about two things: - this bogus claim of Olbermann's that his being fired by Current TV somehow mortally wounded his future prospects, and - whether Fat Al would have to pay the full freight for both side's lawyering, or each side would pay its own. If I had to bet, I'd go with those two issues sawing each other off, with KO dropping the former so that Fat Al would pay the full freight. Upshot: Olbermann just got richer by $20m.
