There was an AP article this weekend that went into detail about all the ways that gay marriages are breaking the traditional paradigms of the marriage ceremony. Most of the changes were benign, but a though that crossed my mind as I was reading it: IT BEGINS.
It also mentioned the growing importance religion is playing in gay marriage ceremonies, the clamor for it in younger generations; one of the couples they interviewed got married at their synagogue. I assume it is a progressive synagogue, but will they force all synagogues, even the orthodox ones, in this direction? The article did not say, of course.

Nobody's ever going to stop lying about this. It's our chopped-down cherry tree.
I know part of it is just media delusion that, e.g., summering with the Geithners (like Obama-as-a-boy did) is your typical American childhood memory, because that's the kind of life they had--or are obliged to act like they had.
But also, they (most of them) know that that's bullshit, and they know that you know it is, but they're gonna make this god right in your fuckin' face anyway. You're powerless to resist. If you point out that Obama's never lived a single moment outside the ruling-class "bubble," you sound like Alex's Jones's crazier brother. Because everybody knows He was born a poor black child...

You are right, by the time of Coral Sea and Midway the VS and VB squadrons were equipped with SBD-3 Dauntless dive bombers. Identical airplanes in both squadrons.
The VS planes when launched for scouting would only carry a 500lb bomb on the centerline. Lighter bomb load means less gas consumed so greater range. Once a scout did find a target and report the contact, him and his wingman were expected to attack with their 500lb bombs. Reasoning is clear. Get a lick in and perhaps lame the enemy for the larger strike wave to finish off. -Though one of the most iconic images of a scout bomber comes from the Doolittle Raid where we see an SBD fly at low altitude, bridge height, and see the radio-gunner drop over the side of the plane a weighted message sack.-
Compared to Japanese scouting dogma, the American's concept was better. I know the book Shattered Sword is supposed to upend all the conventional wisdom on how Japan lost Midway - contradicting Walter Lord, Gordon Prange, and Okumiya; but from reading the precis of the book all the authors manage to do is further refine how badly flawed Japanese carrier and aviation doctrine was.
American doctrine called for an almost pre-dawn launch of VS SBDs. It would not be a 360 search, just sectors where they thought the enemy might be. In the case of Midway Hypo and Midway based PBYs had already narrowed the search area. Still Fletcher on Yorktown did launch scout bombers. While Spurance launched on the PBY contact reports, Fletcher waited on his scouts to report. Which is why Yorktown's bombing and torpedo squadrons arrived at almost the same time as McClusky did with 32 Enterprise SBDs - Fletcher's scouts had caught Nagumo's fleet after he had turned away from Midway so they had better information.
As opposed to the Japanese. They depended upon float scout planes launched from their cruisers to be the eyes of the fleet. All the planes on the carriers were meant for offense. Bushido and all that. To this day no one really knows why Tone's No. 4 scout plane was delayed or flew the search patten it did. But the Japanese search plan was haphazard and sloppy. Adding to the problem was dangerous assumptions by the Japanese.
When I was at the Armaments Museum at Eglin I got a chance to look at a map of USS Hornet's cruise from East Coast to Doolittle Raid and the dash Hornet and Enterprise did to try and meet with Lexington and Yorktown for Coral Sea. On that map it was amazing to see this little note in red pencil 'spotted by Jap plane.' That sighting convinced Yamamoto and others there would be no American carriers at Midway. Still the Japanese had a contingency plan. They would launch Emily seaplanes from Wake, land at French Frigate Shoals to refuel, and then scout Pearl Harbor to see if American carriers had made it back. But Hypo and Nimitz had figured out that part of the plan so when Japanese I-boats arrived at French Frigate Shoals, there was an American warship so the plan to scout Pearl Harbor was called off. The final nail in how badly the Japanese operated was Yamamoto and his staff were at sea aboard Yamato so they had to maintain radio silence just like Nagumo, hence Yamamoto could not pass on commands least he be detected - ie his own plan muzzled him. So messages from Tokyo like the abandonment of the Emily flying boats missed Nagumo aboard Akagi since Akagi's radio mast was short. Nagumo and his staff assumed there had been no changes in American dispositions because they never picked up the message while Yamamoto's staff assumed Nagumo had gotten the message but could not transmit to confirm it.
So it was more than scouting doctrine that undermined the Japanese, but it certainly helped.

That said, it's pretty clear that Obama really does believe his own hype. His outrage over the gun control bill failing is an example.
His small, incestuous inner circle no doubt assured him that 90% of voters were in favor of expanded mandatory background checks. I'm sure they heartily agreed with Obama that if he expended some campaign-style magic, it would be a slam dunk, with voters ready to crucify any Republican who dared defy him.
There likely existed no doubt in his mind that it would pass. And when reality smacked him upside the head, he could only explain it by malicious intent from his opponents.

Today radio host Joyce Kaufman calls Rubio a "fraud" and "Sen. Amnestyman."
It was never going to be easy for Rubio to step into the immigration debate, but the release of the 844-page bill he helped write is doing little to counter the opposition...

@196 First thing you gotta do is get black. They rest takes care of itself through affirmative action. You will be everyone's special little snowflake. You will do no wrong, and everything you do you will be praised for and receive medals and citations.

Unless, of course, you go against the Liberal Orthodoxy.
Then you're a dupe for whitey.

Important update: new Pacific Rim trailer? Still awesome.
I thought it sucked. The movie looks stupider each day.

Let me see.
Unemployment is much higher than reported.
people who are looking cannot find jobs.
Welfare is bigger than what they claim, which is very big.
People that aren't looking for work recieve $$$.
Let's "import" over 30 million people, so they won't find work and will become welfare recipients.
At one time I was good with math, I guess that got sequestered.

Having a good bubble takes constant maintenance. ...I have people for that.
My bubble maintenance crew maintains the structural integrity of my bubble, at all costs.

It's called the MFM. It's really surprising that a self absorbed narcissistic prick like Barry would do this.
