Iran's new "stealth" drones [Purp]
— Open Blogger

From the looks of it, it could fly. I'll give them that much.

...Defence Minister General Ahmad Vahidi was quoted as saying the Epic, which can fly at high altitudes, is a "stealth aircraft that cannot be detected by enemies."...
Rumors that its a fairly straight forward rip-off of the 15+ year old US RQ-5/MQ-5 Hunter design are of course completely unfounded...

Given the slab side fuselage, upright'ish vertical stabs, and dangly (apparently non retracting) landing gear, Iranian claims of stealthiness are HIGHLY suspect...although its radar profile would be somewhat less than Mt. Fuji.

1 It certainly can evade detection of Iran's enemies. Their enemies, i.e. the freedom loving people of Iran, lack the technology to detect anything out of eyeshot or earshot.

2 Looks like a tricked-out Stuka

3 Fuck the drone. How cool wwould it be to own a working Stuka? Of course you couldn't actually drop a 500 pound bomb on anyone, but I can think of a few folks I'd like to make shit their drawers by making a bomb-run on their house at 7 in the morning on a Saturday. That high-pitched scream of the JU-87 was chill- and shit-inducing for sure.

4 I clicked the link, and it took to a website called Bing?

5 Wait..., the Throne Drone...., do I have that right? To early.., not enough coffee

6 Bing is a search aggregator website like Google, without the anti-American, anti-Christian totalitarian creepiness the Google commies are always showing as their true faces. Our gracious host was showing us pictures of our own drone that the nefarious Iranians most likely copied down to the number of rivets, since no Muslim country has created anything original on its own except murderous screeds and suicide bombers for about 800 years.

7 So, the 12th Imam's first weapon that will ultimately lead us to the prophesied Apocalypse is a surveillance drone that looks remarkably like a flying woman's dildo. Discuss at your leisure.

Wasn't there actually a siren attached to a strut that made the noise?

I've never known any flying women, so it it is hard to comment.

Yep.  Say what you will about the Luftwaffe, they knew their psyops.

11 @7: How many flying women do you know, exactly?

Posted by: Ian S. at May 11, 2013 02:57 AM (OevbG)

12 There was indeed a siren attached to the Stuka for just that reason. My primitive mid-20th century Polish and Ukranian ancestors almost certainly thought that scream meant the unfortunate arrival of the legendary Banshee, as they were diving into the nearest roadside ditch for safety.

13 "The Throne..." And antique tech. I find it hard to take seriously the theory that Iran is the Great Enemy and we must destroy them before they destroy us! These guys aren't up to it. And we've had plenty of wars.

14 So they put a motor and wings on one of the clerics?

15 All you need to know is that Bing is not Google. As someone once said, Bill Gates just wants your money, but Google wants your soul!

16 There is one JU-87 B-2 Stuka on the FAA registry.

17 Google probably already has the app to accept your "personal" scan tag from your biometric data card. See page 666 of the Comprehensive Immigration Sellout Bill.

18 Oh, I see. A couple of retired librarian/sentence structure scolds want to talk about form over substance. Nice. Flying women? Well, funny you should ask . . . "Dear Penthouse Forum: I never in my wildest dreams thought such a thing could ever happen to me, a mild-mannered Clark Kent-looking frequent business traveler from Phoenix to LA and New York back in the late 80s, but one night returning to Phoenix from NYC on a red-eye, I had a chance encounter with a flight attendant that convinced me your publication, while rumored to peddle in fantasy for the most part, may actually publish real letters containing true, mind-blowing stories. I call mine "The Tale of the Flying Dildo". It happened something like this . . . . . . . . . . . . So, you see, membership in the Mile High Club might not involve actual coitus, but rather may just require a willing stewardess (what we frequent business travelers sometimes call "Winged Angels of Mercy"), about 4 AA batteries, a French Tickler, and an adventurous soul. Ahhhhh, good times, good times. Very truly yours, Sharkman"

20 Good morning rons.

21 Hey AP, all the work we did on the cover and the editor says it's shit because it's too pixellated? WTF is that. It looks fine in actual size on my computer.

Posted by: Oldsailors Poet Palin/Bolton 2016 at May 11, 2013 03:23 AM (XIxXP)

22 Uuhhmm, I would be really really nice to them and ask for a detailed explanation of they mean.  Are they talking just of the photo or the whole image?

Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at May 11, 2013 03:27 AM (iKxKF)

23 Pixilated-- adjective 1. slightly eccentric or mentally disordered. 2. amusingly whimsical, prankish, silly, or the like.

Oh, wait..., you said 'pixellated'..., never mind

Posted by: Mike Hammer at May 11, 2013 03:34 AM (aDwsi)

24 I should Photoshop one of the Iranian clerics with wings attached...  and put against a blue sky while putting as title - "It's!"

Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at May 11, 2013 03:37 AM (iKxKF)

25 you kinda have to feel a wee bit sorry for them.. only a bit though.

Posted by: Smiles at May 11, 2013 03:47 AM (OJzKk)

26 That thing would be totally undetectable if they just left it on the flatbed.

You're welcome.

27 Yawn, might as well go back to bed!

Posted by: Hrothgar at May 11, 2013 04:05 AM (Cnqmv)

28 I know some guys here who have a whole fleet of their own flying drones, and the fly them every week. Well, they call it the RC Plane club, but same thing. I'm pretty sure most of them could outduel anything the Iranians put up, they've been at it for a long time now.

Posted by: Tom Servo at May 11, 2013 04:35 AM (hTDbY)

29 The Wright Bros want their wood and canvas back.

(The picture needs a can of Plastic Wood on the end of the flatbed for effect)

30 "Iranian stealth technology" means photoshopping the plane out of the picture.

Posted by: T. at May 11, 2013 05:27 AM (rSMx+)

31 We are going to so shoot these things down. Like right away. What a bunch of milkduds they've got over there. jeeze.

Posted by: and irresolute at May 11, 2013 05:58 AM (DBH1h)

32 Too bad they named it after a Twentieth Century Fox movie rather than a Disney film. Disney lawyers would make mincemeat of them.

Posted by: Average Guy at May 11, 2013 07:24 AM (/aCfM)

33 Iranian claims of stealthiness are HIGHLY suspect...although its radar profile would be somewhat less than Mt. Fuji It could be painted plywood, which should be fairly stealthy even with gangly landing gear.
