— Ace WSJ is subscription-blocked, but WSJ India lets you see the story.
"Following instructions," they say. Higher-level officials "had a lot of input," they say.
Hot Air has excerpted the print story.
Transcripts of the interviews, viewed Wednesday by The Wall Street Journal, appear to contradict earlier statements by top IRS officials, who have blamed lower-level workers in Cincinnati.Elizabeth Hofacre said her office in Cincinnati sought help from IRS officials in the Washington unit that oversees tax-exempt organizations after she started getting the tea-party cases in April 2010. Ms. Hofacre said Carter Hull, an IRS lawyer in Washington, closely oversaw her work and suggested some of the questions asked applicants.
“I was essentially a front person, because I had no autonomy or no authority to act on [applications] without Carter Hull’s influence or input,” she said, according to the transcripts.

So do I, but think about the psychological effect on everyone who's been named so far. Every day that goes by with the threat of prosecution hanging over their heads is another opportunity for them to think about releasing more names of more higher-ups.

There can only be one John Dean. There's strong evidence he was the one who orchestrated the Watergate break-in in the first place (although that was G. Gordon Liddy's conclusion and Liddy can't be considered a trustworthy source on anything). That particular John Dean mix of weaselly connivance, self-serving dishonesty, and craven self-preservation cannot be duplicated in nature.

Unless you're just slamming the data (via your phone's 4G connection) let me recommend T-Mobile's monthly option. It's cheaper (I pay like 55 - 60/mo after everything) and just as good.
I have some more research to do, obviously, but from what I can gather from the Verizon site, a data plan would cost me another $40 on top of the nearly $50 I already pay to them, which seems a tad high to me.
I'm open to suggestions and to hear the Horde's experiences, especially down here in FL.

It's cute that you think anyone will do jail time over this. Frustrating and make-me-want-to-hang-the-lot-of-them infuriating, but cute.
Here's my prediction: resignations, perhaps losses of pensions. Slaps on the wrists. "Disciplinary action." And the IRS will still be with us. The Dems and Repubs need it to criminalize the TEA Party and the Repubs are too fucking cowardly to blow the monster to bits.

It's pretty clear why Lerner would not speak to Congress. She was directing a great deal of the intrusions.
Let's see how smug and arrogant works for her in a prison cell. Right next to this Carter Hull dude.

The Clear Lake Tea Party of Texas publicly complained about an IRS employee cited in IssaÂ’s letter, Elizabeth Hofacre, who handled the groupÂ’s application. Hofacre could not be reached for comment.
Mary Huls, president of the Clear Lake Tea Party in Texas, told Reuters her group received a letter from Hofacre in which the IRS requested answers to 19 additional questions.
HofacreÂ’s letter shows that the group was asked for a list of speakers and their qualifications for events, resumes for each board member, a list of questions the group asked political candidates at so-called job interviews and a list of who was invited to those events.
“They were personal and they didn’t seem to have too much bearing on whether or not we could be tax exempt,” Huls said.
The group stopped the process “because then we thought that we would lose our rights of free speech,” Huls said.

In the just-released ruling, the court wrote that ZimmermanÂ’s lawyers have a right to question Crump about his dealings with a woman whoÂ’s expected to be the stateÂ’s most important witness.
SheÂ’s a young Miami woman who was on the phone with Trayvon moments before he was shot.
ZimmermanÂ’s attorneys had twice asked trial judge Debra S. Nelson to order Crump to sit down for a deposition, and twice she said no.
So defense attorneys went over her head, filing a writ with the Fifth District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach.
It returned a unanimous five-page ruling this afternoon in ZimmermanÂ’s favor.

And a month ago, none of heard of Lois Lerner. Two days ago, none of us heard of Carter Hull.
So this is their strategy. It's an onion. While you're busy peeling off layers, the White House sits there knowing full well you'll never reach them in the center.

I don't want to see Boehner until he decides that it's time for a Select Committee, and it's not time for that yet.
Plus, since him acting like Pelosi did is what the dems would expect, I would like to think his invisibility makes them nervous.
