— Ace I don't mean the media Narrative, I mean the public Narrative, what people tell themselves, the Conventional Wisdom people share.
I don't think the media will ever fall out of love with their Beloved -- he cheats and he lies, true, but it's nice to know there's a Bad Boy under that smooth, Nice Guy exterior -- but the national narrative might just.
Pollster Stu Rothenberg:
. It’s hard to overstate the potential significance of the past week. What we are witnessing is nothing less than a dramatic reversal of the nation’s political narrative...The danger for Obama, of course, is that many Americans will start to doubt his administration’s veracity and values. If that happens — and for now it is only a danger, not an inevitability — then the president could well turn into a serious liability for Democrats in next year’s elections.
An anonymous Democratic strategist wrote:
“The AP phone records thing just sealed the deal for what the newest narrative around the Obama administration is going to be. They are the new Nixon admin when it comes to bullying, withholding info and targeting enemies. The right won’t probably call him directly Nixon because you know, Nixon was a Republican, but it will be the basic idea. You will hear claims that there has never been an administration who reached so far to suppress information and dissent. While I don’t think this is actually the full truth, it is hard to not realize this is fully the fault of the administration that perception has gotten to this point."
McConnell had some advice for reporters which they'll ignore:
“Before taking a few questions,” McConnell said, “let me just add one thing. As you continue to file your stories on this subject, ask yourself before you write, how would I be writing this story if this were a Republican administration?”
“Listen, a few more days like this — Obama’s going to claim he was born in Kenya just to get the heat off,” Miller said. “Listen, nothing is going to happen. Show’s over folks."...
Miller said he suspected the AP angle will be the only thing that motivates the press to investigate the Obama administration because, unlike the other scandals, it impacts them personally.
“But when you tap an AP reporter’s phone line and find out how much they’re not getting laid, that’ll get the press P.O.’d. The rest of this is all smoke and mirrors. They don’t care about Benghazi. They don’t care about the IRS. They’ll feign a little indignation, but nobody’s going to go after this guy on that. To think he was tapping reporter’s phones — what a perfect symbiosis that they’re such ass-kissers and he’s someone who really just looks them in the eye and says ‘kiss my ass.’ It is beautiful, it is beautiful that they met each other on this planet.”
I agree. I've been annoyed at the AP and media trying to jockey for First Victim status, especially because you know they're just going to apologize to Obama for ever having suspected him by next week.
On the Me Front, I'm sneezing so hard I'm biting my tongue at the edges.
I wouldn't call myself a Hero.
Others might. But I shy away from such talk.

I know its shallow and not the most important thing but the myth or narrative that I want most broken is the notion that Obama is some type of cool, superior athlete.
The fact that he is one of the least athletic Presidents we have had makes it all the worse.

You assisted and allowed the Attack on a private citizen Joe The Plumber for responding to an idea The President stated , You disallowed the Opinion He shared with the public and then Used You power to try to destroy him? why speech you didn't like.
you outed gun owners..you colluded with a local govt .allowing personal information to be released not for committing a crime but that They Had a Right you disagreed with.
you've spent the last 4+ years calling speech and dissent not a right, but racism and using Your right to speech and opinion to threaten anyone that disagreed with the massive growth of govt.
I am cynical that all of the sudden you have found your regard for rights of citizens and your job as Journalists given special rights to share information . you only care that You were the ones gored when they decided to intrude on Your rights and your personal lives, You are not special anymore than Joe The Plumber, or any american citizen, we share the constitution It is our blessing from the Forefathers. for All of us.
I will repeat this ; as american citizens, we Share the constitution .It is our blessing from the Forefathers.. for All of us. And as despicable as You have behaved being a ideological political force instead of actually committing to the Job of Journalism , Truth :what , where , when , we will defend your right to exist and stand with You against those using govt resources to threaten, intimidate , and chill your right to speak freely .

I keep thinking back to that video somebody put together that showed Obama's campaign ad where he told everybody that the claims about him regarding "you didn't build that" weren't true - but also showed what he actually said, at the same time. It was an obvious, bold-faced lie about Obama's socialism, and about his contempt for what is commonly known as "the American Dream", and the whole purpose of that ad was to tell that lie.
If more people had seen it, maybe they wouldn't be so shocked at the constant stream of lies. They're pathological about it, and probably would feel downright uncomfortable actually telling the plain truth - even once.

History tells us that presidents suffer a sort of personality fatigue during their second term, i.e., the People get sick of their shit.
But Obama is different. This is a president who has a massive PR firm pumping and pimping and protecting his image.
What's more, that same behemoth PR firm is simulatenously running down the opposition. So, with Obama, the People don't see any viable alternative. Who are they gonna turn to, the Republicans?? No way; their image really sucks.

I enjoy the schadenfreude.... I really do. This administration is unraveling.
But .... think a little further out. The midterms are looming. The Republicans cannot be portrayed as the evil obstructionists any longer. IMHO .... most sane Americans are prolly up for a little obstruction at this point.
Think a little further out. Obama sees himself as the Anti-Reagan.... big government is the fixer of all ills .... the provider of all happiness. That narrative is shot to hell and back. These scandals are a weight around his scrawny Kenyan neck and will destroy his legacy.
He .... as of this week... is a dead lame duck. His agenda is dead, Jim.
And.... to top ALL that off..... his overreach in the suppression of all who oppose him.... has united and emboldened what had been a diminishing influence of the Tea Party.
And finally.... the cherry at the top of all this Chocoshit Sundae???? He stabbed his loyal Praetorian Guard in the back. The press is NOT amused.

The national narrative:
People have got to know whether their president is or is not a crook. I am not a crook.
Richard Obama... errrr.... Barack Hussein Nixon... no, that's not it.... Barack Milhouse Obama.... Damn, I know it's in here somewhere...

Unfortunately, the "national narrative" on Obama is something like... "hey, dude, at least he's cooler than that rich guy who wore the Mormon underwear and shit. Chill, bro!"
The low information voter doesn't know where Benghazi is.
The low information voter doesn't know what a 501(c)(4) organization is.
The low information voter doesn't know what the AP is.
National narrative? Try "national haiku."

And, my prescription is: Claritin, Aleve, and a hot, steamy . . . shower.
Neti-pot is optional, but if it's allergies, it's probably not a bad idea. (I use distilled water, microwaved to warmness, but boiled tap water sufficiently cooled would probably work, too.)

Tex Lovera posted this on the earlier IRS thread, but it's worth repeating here. The MFM is pissed because Obammy's gone after THEM with the AP thing. So the White House is offering them an olive branch by trying to revive the Media Shield law.
The Obama administration sought on Wednesday to revive legislation that would provide greater protections to reporters from penalties for refusing to identify confidential sources, and that would enable journalists to ask a federal judge to quash subpoenas for their phone records, a White House official said.
NYT link, so be warned: http://tinyurl.com/axbkqhb
The White house KNOWS that they are going down hard if they lose their media protection. Don't expect them to just let that happen. And the MFM is going to lap up any signs of affection their Boyfriend tosses their way and forgive him all his trespasses as a result.

Obama won reelection on one of the smallest margins in 100 years running on tax returns and free birth control. He should have lost, but our side botched the basic turnout ground game. Independents had turned on him and even his side had a collapse in turnout from 4 years ago.
Obama will not leave a beloved President, my only concern is if the nation has hit a demographic wall where it doesn't matter anymore.

This is what I was saying yesterday. And I'm still feeling a bit uneasy about it today. Makes me wonder if this is just interference for a really huge scandel. Or something even worse than a scandel.
I'm at a loss as to what something worse could be. I mean, what we're hearing about is bad enough, and in line with a few of the things we already know about corrupt Chicago politics.
I could see one scandal rising to the MFM's attention, but so many in such a short length of time?
Something else is up. This just looks to me to be a smokescreen.

And don't forget, was triggered by lies and stupid. Sources (I don't remember who) leaked Wilson's "not worth the paper it was printed on" report, and tried to make it look like Wilson had been sent by the White House (specifically Cheney's office, iirc). The whole reason for Armitage (no friend of the administration) to bring up Plame was to clarify that Wilson had really been sent by his own wife.

No, it was basically just a loss because of Republican turnout.
Romney stomped Obama in the debate, and raised plenty of money for plenty of ads. But it didn't matter if your base doesn't get to the polls.
Had the same base showed up for Romney that did for Bush in 2004, Romney would have won in a near-landslide.
Bush actually LOST the independent vote to Kerry, but enough Republicans overcame the deficit. Romney won independents by about 5 points. It should have been 53-47 for Romney.

Exactly. Which is why our mission must be to put her nuts in the juicer. Given a choice of rolling over on Obama or seeing her shot at the WH vanish she will roll. But only if she is facing that choice. Without her rolling we can't punch through the obfuscation and lies and pin the decision to not send relief in on Obama.

And people need to stop talking about every fake issue. If you can't name "turnout" as one of the biggest factors for why we lost, you don't understand how elections work. It had far more to do with Romney's loss than the debates which everyone including Democrats would agree Obama almost got his head handed to him.
Our side blew it on getting voters to the polls. I honestly place most of that blame on Republican voters, more so than the Romney campaign. Who sat out this election because they didn't get bugged enough by campaign spam?

I agree, and what's sad is what Nixon did seems so trivial with what's happening today. It was basically the equivalent of hacking into an opponents' email, and he didn't even know about it or order it.
Still, Republicans should not go down the impeachment road. They don't have the votes and it will almost certainly blow back on them the way it did with Clinton. It's going to be viewed like the Scott Walker recall.
Does Obama deserve impeachment? Yes, he's a 3rd world thug. But unless you have the smoking gun of all smoking guns, it's stupid politically and will only empower Obama.
