— Purple Avenger Kissing lions, snuggling barracuda, investing with Bernie Madoff, doing some recreational smack on the weekend; these are the kind of innocent mistakes we all made at some point or other in our lives.
Getting married may also fall into that it seemed like a good idea at the time category. Calling in bomb threats because you forgot to confirm your wedding venue and get necessary paperwork is also a perfectly reasonable mistake anyone could make too, right?
When I'm going to miss an appointment, the very first thing that leaps to mind is to call in a bomb threat. That's pretty much my instinctive "go to" play for almost everything; forgetting that its a pretty stupid thing to do just kind slips your mind sometimes though and some mall or other building is getting evacuated. Look, you didn't really mean it, you just forgot it was a really stupid thing to do and slipped up. Do over, right? Mulligan.
Sorry, it just kinda seemed like a good idea at the time.
...a bomb hoax on his wedding day to try to prevent his bride discovering he had failed to complete the paperwork required for them to marry.Neil McArdle, 36, had forgotten to fill in the necessary forms but could not face telling his fiancee, Amy Williams, because the wedding was "all she talked about", Liverpool crown court heard...
...Police quickly traced the call and he was arrested the same day. He admitted to his "embarrassment and shame" that he had panicked over bungling the forms and staged the bomb scare.Love apparently conquers all; even profound stupidity. Whoops, no mulligans or do overs for this rocket scientist. True love is gonna be on hold for 12 months.Williams has stood by the defendant, the court heard, and they are still together...
...bridegroom has been jailed for 12 months after staging a bomb hoax...In another recent episode of it seemed like a good idea at the time, the police in Sweden are appealing to some perp(s) who boosted a safe thinking they were going to have a nice score once they cracked it open.
..."They probably think it has money but in fact the safe has ten kilos of gunpowder. A man who works at the company said that is enough to move 40 tonnes of rock," said Mikael Pelagalli to Mitt i Stockholm. He added that the safe will likely blow up if the thieves use a blowtorch to cut it open. Police are using the media in order to warn the burglars about the risks of their raided goods before it is too late...
to boosting safes in the future.

But boy, what THAT a dumb idea.
* I don't know the specifics of the bomb, but it was something incredibly simple that undoubtedly involved mixing Chlorox and ammonia, and a "delay" mechanism to give you time to run away first. he probable filled the bottom of the can with Chlorox, then Put a pint or so of ammonia in a paper container and then dropped it in -- after a few minutes the paper would weaken and break, and the two liquids combined, with well-known results.

I have a theory that Telling the Truth, being trustworthy, and following rules, have Darwinian impact.
Mankind is a Social species. It cooperates to do things that one person alone cannot do.
How many people do you think it took to build all the things in your house? Let alone the House itself (from raw materials on)...
However, telling Lies, and flouting the rules, leads to mistrust... which breaks down the cooperation needed for society to operate.... which leads to People dieing....
For countries? it leads to people NOT keeping agreements which help your country.... as in the EU push to stop cooperating on the Terrorist banking stuff, because we spied on them...
We have blown a lot of our Moral Capital since the advent of the war on Terror... and it is coming back to bite us...
