— DrewM When last we saw Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, she was vetoing every piece of legislation the Republican controlled legislature passed until they agreed to her budget which included expanding Medicaid under ObamaCare.
Since that didn't work she's now doing an end run around the GOP majorities in the legislature to pass the state's ObamaCare plan.
Fed up with weeks of debate and delay on her top legislative priority, Gov. Jan Brewer called lawmakers into an unprecedented special session late Tuesday, bypassing the leadership of her own party to push through Medicaid expansion and the 2014 budget. The governorÂ’s surprise move comes after House Speaker Andy Tobin, R-Paulden, adjourned until Thursday, stalling efforts by a bipartisan House coalition to pass BrewerÂ’s 2014 budget and Medicaid expansion.
...
State law gives Brewer the authority to call a special session whenever she chooses. The only requirement is that she specify the topics of the session and not deviate from them, said election attorney Tom Ryan....
At least eight to 10 House Republicans are expected to join the chamberÂ’s 24 Democrats in support of expansion, a coalition that has been loosely organized for months.
Basically by calling the legislature into special session, Brewer is forcing them to vote on her proposals and enabling a minority of Republicans to join with the Democrats to pass ObamaCare's Medicaid expansion.
What this amounts to is what Boehner was doing for awhile to pass things a majority of his caucus doesn't support...let liberal Republicans and Democrats take charge.
Naturally Republican leaders in the state House and Senate aren't amused by Brewer's tactics.
"This evening, Governor Brewer summoned legislators to convene a special session to address the FY14 budget and Medicaid expansion. The special session was called without any consultation with Senate or House leadership, and was designed to commence at the precise moment it was conveyed. We are disappointed and stunned that the Governor and her staff would resort to such an unnecessary, impulsive and unprecedented tactic.""Since the beginning of the session, Senate and House leadership have made the budgetary process a top priority. Additionally, the debate regarding the full implementation of Obamacare in Arizona was already fully under way. In fact, these two specific items have not only consistently been a top legislative focus, but the other essential bills of the legislature have also been moving through our respective chambers. Instead of allowing the process to proceed in an orderly manner, the Governor made the impetuous decision to intercede and collude with the democrat minority in order to force an expedited vote on her sole legislative priority of Obamacare."
"We are frustrated and bewildered by her overt hostility and disregard for the budgetary process which was already well under way. The blatant disrespect and reckless practices exhibited by this Executive are less than what was expected of her and more than should be tolerated."
Funny how "conservatives" often move left but liberals never "evolve".
Remember, it's never over until the liberals win.

The million dollar question. These republicans are flipping at an insane rate. My theory is all politicians are corrupt and used to just give a wink wink to each other. The hard core leftist fascist scumbags waited until a scumbag like obama and company took over and got control of the "intelligence", then they used it on all their opposition in the belief that they'll never NOT be controlling the intelligence.

Rubio, Toomey, Ayotte, Ryan, Brewer... and remember that Scalia sided with the liberals on the last decision.
George Soros must be changing solid conservatives into liberal commies using a ray gun from orbit. Only tin foil hats will protect the few remaining true believers.
It's either that or some of the cobloggers and commenters at a popular smart military blog are acting like hysterical women.

I can't help but think of this every time one of "ours" crosses the aisle. Same goes for Rubio. And we know the dems don't have to pay any consequences for the actions but the repubs are lambasted and personally destroyed by the media.

One of the alinsky rules is about never compromising. The dems seem to have a perfect record in that. The repubs think of compromise as a good thing, they are wrong.
OT side note, 2015 of course:
Buried in a little-noticed rule on microwave ovens is a change in the U.S. governmentÂ’s accounting for carbon emissions that could have wide-ranging implications for everything from power plants to the Keystone XL pipeline.
The increase of the so-called social cost of carbon, to $38 a metric ton in 2015 from $23.80, adjusts the calculation the government uses to weigh costs and benefits of proposed regulations. The figure is meant to approximate losses from global warming such as flood damage and diminished crops.

Everything we see happening around us points in that direction. One need not believe the Bible to at least acknowledge that much as true. For the first time in history, the technology needed to implement that all-seeing global rule *actually exists* and is being used for purposes that can and will lead toward that ultimate end.
But not only the technology to do it exists; the global statists among us - most of whom would sooner defecate on an open Bible than read it - have the desire to bring to pass exactly what the the Word foretells.
Here's the point: America as founded is in the way of both the global statists and of Bible prophecy.
Personal liberty guided by law and conscience MUST be eradicated for the final global system to come into place. Today we only glimpse what will come. The IRS quashing freedom of opinion. The NSA seeking to know the thoughts of everyone it can categorize, enemy or citizen. The defection of people we thought and hoped we could trust to "save us." It's all what could only be expected to happen, and at an accelerating rate, if the Bible's prediction of the near future is true.
Disbelieve and disregard it all if you like, but if you look at these individual puzzle pieces in isolation, they may not make sense, you'll get even more frustrated and angry, and they'll blur together before long, shedding light but no illumination, leading only to despair when the people you thought you could trust betray you.
But hang everything - EVERYTHING - you know about our current state of affairs onto the framework of a coming one world government/economy/religion and it ALL starts to make sense, even if your mind and heart recoils from the realization.
Try it and see.

Conservatives know that you can't have the liberal fantasy of paying for the entirety of medical technology for every person in the country regardless of age and affliction. Only a left wing idiot would thing otherwise.
Conservatives agree with the position the NRA held for years that criminals and crazies should not be allowed to buy guns. Whatever your paranoid ideas are beyond that are, you should consult with your mental health provider.
Conservatives recognize that illegals are pouring over the border and receiving every benefit this country has to offer from day one. Conservatives want to change this. Keeping the status quo doesn't accomplish it.

The American political system used to be predicated on the theory that all politicians were either out-right whores, or potential whores that hadn't gotten the right offer yet.
Under Obama, there is an alternate theory that the remaining politicians (or their family members) have engaged in highly questionable activities in their past and someone now has really good documentation (pics or it didn't happen) and has reasoned with them persuasively to reconsider their political positions.
